wtf another wwe start making the jump? pretty insulting to the sport of mma if u ask me. good thing he said he wanted nothing to do with fedor, at least he knows better. i hope this is just a joke tho, maybe a few people got him going while he had a few drinks in him nd nothing more comes of this.

if so, let me know when hogans coming he cant be too far behind

I would say its only disrespectful if he doesn't put in the right work behind it

If he comes in like what James Toney seems to be doing, then fuck him. But if he comes in and takes it seriously (which he seems to be doing) and trains with the right people (which he seems to have been doing) and puts in the long hours and actually picks up some MMA Techniques and doesn’t try to just bully his way thru, then I don’t see that as disrespectful at all.

A 40-year-old former bodybuilder/bouncer/pro wrestler doesn’t want to fight Fedor in his first MMA fight? What a pussy.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fedor's people were trying to set this fight up

He’s almost out of cans.

Yep

After he beats ANOTHER top 10 opponent (Werdum) he’ll fight a top 5 ranked guy (Overeem). Then he’ll prolly retire.

Name another fighter that has fought that many top 10 HW in thier career….none.

I would say let him fight Lashley, but Batista, even with his complete lack of MMA experience and any sort of legitimate combat skill, probably poses too much of a threat.

Hmm…I wonder if batista will be coddled like wittel bwock and get a title shot after ONE VICTORY

yeah damn they coddled him so badly making him fight former champions and guys with tons of experience. I bet all fighters wished they had it so easy.

by Jimbobb on Jun 21, 2010 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions

He got handed the belt yes...but coddled?

He fought Frank Mir in his first fight (who was top 15 at the time), in his second fight he got Herring in his 2nd UFC fight( who was prpbably top 20 at the time-He had nearly beat Big Nog and Kongo who was hoovering at top 10). In his 3rd fight he got Randy Couture, as old as he was he was Top 10 and he still is a top 20), then Frank Mir again. Coddled I don’t think so. He got a quick title fight yes, coddled no.

by coddled

I meant a quick title shot.perhaps that was a poor word to use…going 1-1 in an org and getting a shot at the belt is nonsense…and don’t give me the “there was nobody else” speech..hype and money were why he got the shot. Period.

Now that I agree with...I use the word "fast tracked" for the reasons you posted above.

former champions my ass!

Randy got a BS title shot for being popular and for Tim being so unpopular! I know Randy was gonna win and all the “oh he was a huge underdog” crap always amazed me! There were 2 major reasons to why Brock fought for the title after going 1-1.. A: Because a 50 lbs lighter man with the same strength (wrestling) and no knockout power held it. B: Because Brock sold more PPV’s than any other fighter and he had a bigger contract than any other HW.

+ anyone who knows anything about MMA.

knows Frank Mir would lose to any wrestler with ground and pound unless he is lucky as hell ! I would have a guy like Bobby Lashley beating him relatively easy.

The Brock hatred runs deep in this one.

by Jimbobb on Jun 21, 2010 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

You're a crack head Rob..

Randy was the under dog for a reason, coming off a loss and a lay off from retirement, giving up 50 lbs and about a foot of reach and height, then he goes in takes the big guy down over and over again AND even plays into his strength which is striking and beats him at it. Goes full steam, 5 rds, it was awesome. That was one of the best fights of ‘07 simply because Couture was NOT expected to win. Everyone wrote him off like they ALWAYS do, saying he’s done, too old, should’ve stayed retired etc…

lashley beating mir????

That’s the stupidest comment I’ve read in a while. I agree Mir is overhyped, but Lashley beating him easy? Wtf. The same Lashley that looked like shit against Jason Guida lol. Congrats you just won the tool of the day award

I understand what you are saying now...

Still, and I am not really a Brock fan, you have to give credit where credit is do. He got right in the mix with the UFC top 10. Regardless of weight or whatever, he was confident enough in his skills to compete with fighters that were light years ahead of him experience wise. Yes he is big and yes he is a good wrestler, but wrestling is different when someone actually is hitting you or trying to rip off a limb. Brock could have went Lashleys route and said he was not ready to step up in competition and take the slow road to success. I do realize money was the motivator in him being fast tracked, but the HW division was not exactly in its finest hour when Brock had comeover. It is not till the last 2 or 3 years with JDS, Cain, Carwin, Brock, and Nog that the HW division of the UFC finally has a breath of promise.

The same Heath Herring that should have beat Big Nog

just after that lose. The same Heath Herring that fought Big Nog in his prime two other times and did well, that fought Fedor for a solid 10 minutes(dr. stoppage not him stopping) while in the corner, fought Vitor Belfort in his prime to a decision, and beat Kongo (who was one of the UFC top 10 at the time). I am not saying Herring is an MMA God, but he is as solid and as experienced as they come, and was consistently a top 20 fighter for almost 5 years.

I hate Borck but he has beaten the people put in front of him so I wouldn't say that he was coddled. Fast tracked? Yes. Coddled? No.

What a stupid comment

Salamagogo, please explain how Brock was coddled?

by pjred13 on Jun 21, 2010 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

Brock isn't the first WWE guy to come over

Lashley wasn’t “coddled”. I really don’t think Brock was either. Just given an unfair push because of name recognition and lack of depth in the division.
