I really thought Varner was going to start crying.

Either way it was a bad decision.

the guy who arm-barred darebedyan(spelling?)_

Just couldn’t keep it together…it was a little odd cause you could tell it was gonna be hard for him during the interview…I kno it can be emotional but that guy sounded like his whole family was being held hostage or something

how was it a bad decision champ?

These stats show Varner getting absolutely crushed on the striking department. I had it as possible to go either way, but kinda thought Varner had the win due to the point deduction. So a draw wasn’t bad IMO.

Metric's got Varner winning 29-28 without the point deduction

I just don’t see how; the power punch’s Varner landed were really THAT good??

If shape it might be call'd, that shape had none,
Distinguishable in member, joint, or limb;
Or substance might be call'd that shadow seem'd;
For each seem'd either; black it stood as night,
Fierce as ten furies, terrible as Hell,
And shook a dreadful dart; what seem'd his head
The likeness of a kingly crown had on.
Satan was now at hand; and from his seat
The monster, moving onward, came as fast
With horrid strides; Hell trembled as he strode."

i agree. a draw is the right call

Only person who got it right was Cecil. 28-28. Would have been 29-28 otherwise.

So you guys think Kamel won that fight?

How? Varner actually rocked him more than once and yes he survived but Kamel never had Varner in danger. Maybe I’m way off but I don’t see how kamel won that fight if not for the point deduction.

Well I can't stand Varner

So IMO if a Varner fight goes to decision he should automatically lose for being Jamie Varner

I agree mmachamp. Varner won that fight even without the point deeduction. I had it 29-27 with the point deduction

by LOKIE on Jun 21, 2010 12:08 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I had money on Sholarus yet this was one of the easiest fights to score.

Varner won every round pure and simple. He was landing the cleaner shots, yes he was taking leg kicks but he was punching him in the head as the kicks landed. He had him wobbled and rocked in every round mutliple times. And Rosenthal should have given Varner the DQ win in the third according to the rules (No it was not a judgment call either, it’s what’s suppose to happen).

I had money on Sholarus as well and watched this on the dvr late last night. Was exhausted and wanted to vape.

After round 3, I almost just hit stop and delete cuz I figured it HAD to be Varner especially with the point deduction.

I know this, in the rematch, I’m taking Kamal and hopefully he uses his wrestling.

I AM SOMETIMES BIASED - Get over it!!!!!!!

DW!

Dude party foul! Don’t give Cecil Peoples any props, that Douche told all the MMA fans to go “F” themselves after the Rua/Machida 1 extravaganza. That guy’s on my permanent shit list!

Sooooo... Metric has him out striking Varner every rd, but somehow awards Varner rds 1 and 2..

They also have 1 TD scored in favour of Shalorus… Something really doesn’t add up here at all.

Yea but Cecil doesn't run FightMetric.com

I wrote them an email; hopefully I hear back from them, I DEMAND AN ANSWER! Normally the FightMetric winner is supported by statistics, but if I were to go off this report Varner landed 47 strikes to 105 and got taken down. It’s like they’re statistically backing up the fact that Kamal beat the crap out of varner and then saying “but Varner wins anyway.” I don’t get it.

champ just sticks with majority to get less gruff for thinking on his own

How is this Cecil’s fault? Oh, right, cause majority of ppl hate him, so its safe to say Cecil to get supporters. Why not the judge who scored the fight in favor of Varner even after the point deduction of 29-27, rather then Cecil who had it 28-28 due to it. Cecil’s scoring is right on.

A lot things went wrong with this fight however,

Cecil does get part of the blame as well the other judge who gave Kamel the fight. Also, I thought Kamel should have been deducted a second point after the third kick to the nuts. Why just a warning after you just took a point away for the same shit, Josh?

I actually don’t have a problem w/ Cecil scoring it a draw. Now the judge that scored it for Kamal on the other hand…

by HappyLittleTreez on Jun 21, 2010 11:07 AM EDT up reply actions

If it wasn't for the point deduction then Kamel would have won and

I don’t see how kamel did enough to win that fight.

I give him props for taking those huge shots and just shrugging them off. Dude is an animal. He should have used his wrestling though. Besides the leg kicks, he wasn’t doing anything but getting punched in the face.

they must really weigh the high power strikes highly

by Jimbobb on Jun 21, 2010 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

It doesn't make sense to me either

Thought Kamal may have taken the 2nd round but it would have been 9-9. Varner rd 1, Kamal rd 3. 28-28 Draw

by Damageplan on Jun 21, 2010 6:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Good night of fights.

Normally I feel bad seeing low blows, but I took some pleasure in seeing them happen to Varner lol. I really doubt he’s looking forward to the rematch. Shalarus is a scary dude, he was taking huge shots like it was nothing. Wish he would have used some wrestling so he’d atleast win the fight though.

Yeah definitely.

The Hominick/Jabouin fight was awesome…back and forth fight, with an awesome comeback finish. Anyone see who got the awards for the night? There were a bunch of candidates for sub of the night. Probably a few for FOTN as well.
