James here!
Jamie "C-4" Varner vs. Kamal "Prince of Persia" Shalorus (155-pound limit)
Round one: Varner looks bouncy. He lands a hard right hand to open up the action. Shalorus looks a little stiff here. He lands a leg kick. Now another. Kamal showing his jab now. Varner leans in now and unloads a hard combination of punches. Kamal connects on a leg kick on the exchange as well. Kamal lands another cracking leg kick, but Varner counters with another flurry of punches. Jab lands for Shalorus. Hard right hand now from Shalorus. Varner tees off again, but Kamal makes him pay with a nice hook. Varner stumbled back on that one. Body kick from Kamal. Nice right hand lands for Varner. More hard leg kicks from Kamal. Varner now finally answers back with one of his own. Varner now with a straight right that puts Shalorus backwards momentarily. Varner misses a high kick now. He's starting to open up a bit and now connects with another right hand. Leg kick again by Varner. Shalorus fakes a takedown attempt and Varner drills him with a right hand. Kamal looks hurt and Varner charges. Shalorus stands tall and Varner backs off. Hard leg kick from Kamal. Now a huge exchange and both fighters land some serious shots. The round ends shortly after that. Close round. Varner landed some hard shots, but Shalorus did a nice job with the leg kicks. Tough to judge. Varner had him wobbly a couple of times though. 10-9 Varner.
Round two: High kick lands from Varner right out of the gate. Shalorus looks like a robot just walking forward. Shalorus goes back to work on Varner's lead leg. Varner is doing a nice job of countering with punch combinations though. Body kick lands for Kamal. Varner says it was low, and Rosenthal calls for a halt in the action, which seems standard for a Jamie Varner fight. He recovers and we're back underway. Shalorus pushing forward now and Varner trying to circle away. Varner times a nice counter jab off a Shalorus low kick. Shalorus continues to walk forward and now he lands a body kick. Varner counters again with a nice one-two combo. Varner goes down again to a low kick to the groin. This time Rosental takes a point from the Iranian for the error. That point could come back to be crucial. The round ends shortly after that. Close round again.
Round three: Shalorus may have a broken right hand. He was complaining about it between rounds. Varner eats a hard kick from Shalorus. Another one finds a home. Again it's to the groin and Varner crumbles. Rosenthal doesn't take a point this time for some reason. It was probably the worst one of the three though. Back underway now. Varner is cringing. Back to sticking and moving with the jab and two punch combo for Varner. Shalorus with a kick to the outside of Varner's leg now. Surprisingly Shalorus hasn't shot in for a takedown one time in this fight. High kick from Shalorus gets blocked. Now finally Shalorus grabs a leg and gets a takedown. Varner has full guard. Elbows from the bottom from Varner. Punches to the body from Kamal. Punches to the head now from Shalorus on top of Varner. Varner holding on from the bottom and now he lets go and unloads with a few punches. Shalorus is picking up the pace now and he lands a few hard strikes. Varner scrambles and pushes Kamal off to get back to his feet. Varner misses with a high kick. Shalorus misses with a leg kick. Varner circles around and shoots for a takedown at the bell.

Mark "The Machine" Hominick vs. Yves "Tiger" Jabouin (145-pound limit)
Round one: Gloves touch and we're underway with the co-main event. Jabouin shows his jab and Hominick answers with a right hand. Nice high kick gets blocked by Hominick. More jabs and some nice movement from Jabouin. Nice kick gets blocked again. Jabouin is punching and kicking in bunches now and he's really looking to land that high kick. Hominick is stalking, but he's eating a lot of little shots from a very active Jabouin. Hominick still walking him down and he eats a kick to the gut. Jabouin just misses on another high kick attempt. More jabs and kicks from Jabouin. Hominick is living up to his nickname here though and he just keeps walking forward seemingly unfazed by anything Jabouin has to offer. Jab and spinning backfist lands now from Jabouin. Hominick eats it and steps forward. Hard left hand lands for Hominick now, but Jabouin keeps scoring points with his jabs and straights. Both fighters exchange leg kicks now as Hominick backs Jabouin into the fence. Difficult round to score because Hominick kept coming foward and pushing the pace. But Jabouin landed more and probably won the round.
Round two: More jabs right off the bat from Jabouin. Into the clinch momentarily, but Jabouin pushes out. Jabouin continuing to fire with punches and kicks and then circle out. Spinning elbow lands now from Jabouin. Hominick stands right in there and continues to walk Jabouin down. Nice left hook lands for Hominick, but Jabouin fires back with more kicks. A hard punch to the body crumbles Jabouin and Hominick pounces. Jabouin recovers and gets back to his feet. Hominick is still firing punches with Jabouin's back to the fence. Now a huge flurry from Jabouin sends Hominick flying backwards and he's on the mat. Now he's standing over Hominick raining down punches. Hominick pulls him down and into his guard. Hominick sweeps and gets mount! Holy shit Jabouin is eating big punches. What a crazy fight. Jabouin can't get out of the position and he's getting drilled with strikes. The referee finally steps in and this fight is over. Another great fight.
Final result: Mark Hominick defeats Yves Jabouin via technical knockout (strikes) at 3:21 of round two
-end-

Round one: Grispi is huge. He towers over Davis in the staredown. Grispi comes out throwing a lot of kicks. Davis is countering with a nice one-two combo that he's landed a couple of times already. Grispi continues to land an assortment of kicks here. He's kicking to all three levels and mixing it up nicely. Davis doesn't like it and he shoots now and gets a nice takedown. Grispi has full guard and he has a deep guillotine choke locked in. This is very bad for LC Davis. He's out. That's it. Another outstanding first round victory for Josh Grispi.
Final result: Josh Grispi defeats L.C. Davis via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:33 of round one
-end-
Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki vs. Danny "Boy" Downes (155-pound limit)

Horodecki lands a leg kick and initiates a clinch. Downes with his back against the fence. Horodecki with a single leg takedown attempt now. He's working hard and he's got it. Right to half guard. Downes is trying to stand and Horodecki straps on a guillotine choke. He has full guard now and he's squeezing it, but Downes looks to be okay. He's out and they stand. Horodecki drives him right back into the cage. Dirty boxing from both fighters out of the clinch. Knees from The Polish Hammer. Single leg again now. Downes isn't having it. Horodecki with a body lock now and that does get Downes on his back. Half guard again. Nice ground strikes from Horodecki. He's looking to pass to mount and he gets it. Downes gives up his back with 1:20 left on the clock. Horodecki has his hooks in. Downes is fighting it, and Horodecki lets go of the hold. Downes takes his back now briefly before they stand and Horodecki drives him back into the fence. The referee is screaming at Horodecki to let go of the cage and the round ends there. 10-9 Horodecki.
Round two: Downes eats a counter punch right hand after showing a one-two combo. Horodecki backs him up with a big punch. Downes leans in and eats a hard two punch combo. Again he makes the same mistake. Nice counter striking from Horodecki. Now a spinning back kick to the body lands for Horodecki and Downes looks like he's tired and hurt. Nice left hand lands for Horodecki who has picked up the pace here. Another nice combination of punches land from Horodecki. Downes grabs for dear life and initiates a clinch. Horodecki drives him into the fence and then punches his way out with body blows. Back into the clinch with The Hammer looking for another takedown. He gets it and goes right to side mount. Downes gives up his back now and he's trying to crawl to his feet. Horodecki looking for the rear naked choke. It's under the chin and it's deep. That's it. Danny Boy taps angrily on the mat and Horodecki has a submission win.
Final result: Chris Horodecki defeats Danny Downes via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:09 of round three
-end-
Will Campuzano vs. Eddie Wineland (135-pound limit)
Round one: No gloves touching here. Campuzano leads with a double jab. Wineland with an inside leg kick. Campuzano returns with one of his own. Wineland flashing his jab, but not landing it much. Hard leg kick from Campuzano wakes the crowd up. Wineland lands another inside leg kick. Wineland with some nice head movement and footwork as he avoids a combination. Campuzano trips up and gets hit with a right hand. He swings wildy, but misses with a left hook. Jab to the body lands for Wineland. Nice leg kicks land from Wineland. Campuzano now with a nice kick to Winelands hamstring. Big right hand lands for Wineland now and Campuzano is backpedaling. He lands a jab and circles out. Wineland charges with another combination followed up by a high kick that gets blocked. Good defense from Campuzano there, but Wineland is winning this round by pushing the pace. The round comes to an end without much more action. 10-9 Wineland.
Round two: Jab lands from Wineland. Now a double jab lands. Looping right hand misses from Campuzano. Now he lands a straight right, but Wineland's movement is much better so far in this fight. Campuzano is going to have to start mixing in more strikes. Nice jab now from Campuzano, but Wineland circles away and flashes his double again. Wineland is settling in now and he's out-boxing Campuzano again. Nice exchange with both guys landing. Campuzano gets a body kick blocked, but Wineland can't connect on the counter punch. More stick and move combinations from Wineland and Campuzano is having a hard time finding his range still. Wineland connects with a big right hand now. Campuzano is on queer street. Wineland pounces and he's raining down punches! Somehow Campuzano recovers and gets back to his feet! Wow! He's throwing punches and knees now, standing toe to toe with Wineland. Wineland has him backed up against the fence now and he's continuing the onslaught. He connects with a brutal body shot and Campuzano is down for good now. This fight is over! Great start to the Versus telecast.

Horodecki's stand up is looking good
But is this Downes guy a tomato can or what? Was Downes Syndrome named after this guy? He is horrible and yet is stll making a fight out of this which makes other dude’s performance seem less impressive. Just my take on it.

You may be right
But damn it if I just can’t stand the guy. I hate the way he talks, his stupid face, his gay ass hair cut…that goddamn picture of him looking all constipated with that naked chick with an ugly face with her side boob. They put that pic here on a Mania post back in the day do y’all know what I’m talking about?

FYI, this is the pic I was talking about.
Dude you are a fucking tool even if you are standing all up on an ugly topless chick.

by Captain Ernesto on Jun 20, 2010 10:29 PM EDT up reply actions
I can't say I agree that she is ugly
The Ducheness of Varner is not arguable though
Bullets dodge Fedor.
Well alright I guess I'm just projecting my disdain of Varner on his topless companion.
I mean I’d totally do her every which way but Sunday but compared to the top caliber talent level of the pin up chicks y’all maniacs usually post on here I’d say she’s pretty average.

Well, great night of fights and more weirdness for Varner
"Why am I here? Why does my mind have wings? Why do blue midgets hit me with fish?!" - The Tick
I hate Varner, no particular reason. I just dont like him.
YES!!!!!! Varner didnt win. Can’t believe the decision, especially with the point deduction for kicking Varner in his balls. Thought for sure Varner was gonna get the decision and its so funny that Varner thought he won at the end of the 3rd when the 10 seconds left chime sounded out, raising his hands and running away. What a douche Varner is but I can’t believe he didnt get the decision.
after the third and most powerful shot
he tried to say he didnt hit him. then the judge had to call him on his shit saying “i heard your leg hit the cup”. and what was up with rosenthol telling varner it was the end of the round when they were only 30 seconds into the round?
never have any regrets, because at the time, thats all you wanted to do
it was in the 3rd
watch the replay, shalorus kicks varner square in the cup then as varner shows he is in pain shalorus turns with his hands up like he didnt actually catch him. then after varner asks about the point deduction he asks how much time is left in the fight and rosenthol says “its towards the end of the last round” and varner was like “fuck it, lets do it”. i still dont see how varner gets into these really strange fights.
never have any regrets, because at the time, thats all you wanted to do
Huh
I had Shalorus taking the second and third rounds for a draw, but what the fuck kind of idiot would give him round one?
Anderson Silva will fall via brutal Republican dry-humping.
Yep there is no way he won the first.
That 29:27 judge is just a moron, I am surprised it wasn’t Cecil.
