Jamie Varner: 'Kamal Shalorus is the toughest guy you've never heard of'
Props: MMAWeekly
Quoteworthy:
"This is a really crazy fight because we're both wrestler/boxers, and I feel like where I lack, he exceeds, and where he lacks, I exceed. I feel like I'm definitely the better boxer and technical striker, but he hits really, really hard, but yet he's a better wrestler. He's nationally decorated, he's an Olympic alternate for Britain; I mean, he's no joke. Kamal Shalorus is the toughest guy you've never heard of."
Former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner prepares for an all out war when he faces Kamal Shalorus in the main event of WEC 49 on June 20 at the Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The "Prince of Persia" is 2-0 for the WEC (6-0-1 overall) and could make himself an immediate title contender if he detonates "C-4" on Sunday night. Anyone thinking that Varner is in over his head? Or is it the other way around?

good to hear and I hope he kicks your ass
Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.
So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.
shalorus
is an animal, I think he wins this fight easily.
you know whats sad to me, they could have a Brock Lesnar takes a dump thread and it would get 500 comments, yet WEC/SF don’t get any comments at all. The same 4 or 5 guys commenting, yet all these other guys say they are huge mma fans. Last night there was a Bellator fight where and it was good, no one is commenting!
i couldnt even find the bellator thread last night
But I saw one this morning.
Varners comments sound eerily (sp?) Simular to a certain ufc HW’s who ended up geting ktfo a couple weeks back.
"You're in this dark tunnel and you've got no way out, you're waiting for light, and you see that light, what do you do? What do you do? You start digging, and getting out. ... I've always beleived you stay in the tunnel and you keep digging when you expect no light. You have the same faith when you expect no light. You have the same beleif in what you're doing when you expect no light. ... It's dark and I'm going to dig through. My shovel is sharp and my pick is sharp and my will is outstanding." --Rod Marinelli 2008 (on his way to that sweet 16!)

I don’t comment on wec as we don’t get it in the uk. Don’t know enough about it really, other than what I read here. That rules out most uk posters.
Ps where’s the Brock taking a dump story, I fancy reading about that?

Shalourus had very rudimentary stand-up the last time I saw him. As long as Varner is not dumb, he should easily outbox him.
If KS gets ahold of him though, he will crush Varner, but I don’t see it happening. KS is not ready for this big a step-up in competition.

Like a soda can. :) He is a HUGE 155'r and has world-class wrestling. If he gets ahold of Varner, I think he can take him down and pound him out.

BZ, I don't think he will get a hold of Varner. I think Varner KO's him.

I disagree
his wrestling is leaps and bounds better than Vartner, he’ll catch a hold of him and dump him on his back…followed by excuses from varner!
This is an interesting fight
I am glad Varner is not taking him lightly. Kamal is a dangerous dude.
he already has a built in excuse ready if he losses. i'll put more pressure on him.
if you lose to this guy you have to hug rosie o’donnell just like urijah faber did.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Craig Thompson just might end up being a savvy guy. Hell is just a word, the reality is much much worse." Event Horizon". Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean, I mean plumb, mad dog mean. cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live or win. That's just the way it is. "The Outlaw Josey Wales". To protect the sheep you gotta catch the wolf, and it takes a wolf to catch a wolf. "Training Day". Rashad will beat Rua b/c it's a bad matchup for him. 2/1 odds. Josh Koscheck will dethrone Gsp and win the welterweight title. 2.9/1 odds on that too. Peace.

That is the most obscenely ripped human being I have ever seen
Holy Christ in a sombrero.
Anderson Silva will fall via brutal Republican dry-humping.
