What was that league they made where 2 dudes are tied to like a circle stand in the middle with one arm and just throw bombs with the other and up kicks? Anyone know what I am talking about?

I saw a video of it. It was like a hybrid between arm wrestling and MMA. I think it boasts that the creator of the UFC brand is behind it, but I can’t remember what it’s called.

Myth: 170 division is more stacked than the 205 division. Fact: 205 division is more stacked than the 170 division, why else would Hughes still be in the top 10 while Thiago Silva, Franklin and Jones and/or Couture aren’t even in the top 10 LHWs… maybe cause it’s more stacked? lol

Fedor played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won... but still avoids the UFC!

Anderson Silva haters will be back on his nuts after he gets another amazing KO just like when he embarrassed Forrest in a way that nobody else has or could ever do. Very Matrix like. GSP on the other hand can't even finish people in his own weight division. The only time Andy goes the distance is against a decent fighter who he either isn't motivated to fight or train for and just toys around with them. Get a top fighter in there and watch him get destroyed within 2 rounds in a way that person's never been handled before. He's board at MW, get him to LHW so he can take that belt too and let's watch GSP be brave enough to take a fight at MW period. Facts are pretty amazing!

Congratulations on coming a couple days late again. You probably do this because you don’t think I will respond. I love owning you though so I will. Don’t worry man, you’ll get me one of these days. The FACT is (I know you like that word), according to the site which you told me to look at (MMAWeekly-even though I’ve always thought their rankings were shit anyways) has more top ten WW in the UFC than top 10 LHW in the UFC. By your own definition that means it’s more ‘stacked’. I had originally said that the UFC WW division was close to or equal to LHW as far as being competitive, while you’re the one who said I knew nothing about MMA and I should check out MMAlive and MMAweekly. Using your own site it clearly demonstrated that I was right. Maybe you should take some of your own advice and actually watch the sport. There I owned you again. Do you feel better about yourself now that you jumped in on a thread and commented where it didn’t concern you. I thought not. I’ll check back in a week to see if you’ve come up with something else stupid to say.

offtopic, nothing against Firas here...

But I think people who have met any fighters/coaches/refs/commentators tend to almost always say they are very nice guys. I would say in 99% of cases that’s the case. It just seems that people seem to always rate up people who they had a chance to meet that are famous.

Again, nothing against Firas, I just wanted to make an observation.

when I meet someone, I don’t ask for a picture (if I’m a fan) and have never asked for an autograph. I have some pictures with fighters, but mainly guys I didn’t really care about. If I’m a fan (Shields for example) I walked up and talked to like a normal guy. Of course if you walk up a bright eyed and drooling they will be nice, they want to take all the sucking up they can get, believe it or not, it feels nice to get sucked up too.

It’s true, they are clearly on their best behaviour as well. But if the experience is positive then I won’t be jaded enough to think they are definitely putting on a show. Until I see otherwise I’ll think they are genuine…no need to be pessimistic about it.

by MM_Eh on Jun 15, 2010 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Nono I am not pessimistic about the famous person behavior at all...

What I mean is actually more that the person meeting the celebrity is starstruck to a certain degree and even if the celebrity is a dick to an extent, they would be overlooking that fact and only saving the preferred parts of the experience in memory.

There are some psychological phenomena that describe that sort of selective deletion and distortion. But i just wanted to throw that out there, I don’t want to generalize and take away from people’s experiences. Just saying it CAN happen.

I don’t know about that. It’s not like GSP graces every cover of every newspaper or anything. I think people know who Chris Bosh is before they know who GSP is to be honest. My friend isn’t a huge fan of Firas so I doubt he was starstruck. When he met Cote though he was a little starstruck and said he was a bit of a bumbling idiot, but Cote is probably used to that type of thing.

The honest truth is the that GSP gets almost no mainstream media coverage in Quebec.

Way too many extreme fighting freak shows took place in this province before GSP and the UFC became big I think. The image of the sport is still tainted. The perception is changing rapidly though thanks to a few enthusiast radio DJs. The press and television barely mention him the morning after a victory. It’s a damn shame. If you rely on mainstream media only for your information than you’re a fucktard anyway is what i think. Those who need to know about GSP and mixed martial arts can find plenty of adequate information sources on the web, Mania, of course, being da shit.

And your the loser who always tries to sound so smart even after getting slaughtered in an argument! There’s typos and there’s people who just don’t know how to spell. You would fall into this category along with other stupid things you can’t comprehend like how the WW division isn’t more stacked than the LHW and that GSP couldn’t finish Hardy and didn’t toy with him like you claimed. Did you think I had forgot about the biggest dip shit here on the site?

What’s wrong with behaviour? Fail. There ARE typos, not THERE’S typos. There’s is a contraction of there is, while typos is plural. Once again you got owned you fool. Hey man, I quoted your own site in the other thread (MMAWeekly), if you didn’t like it you shouldn’t have brought it up (see that’s how you use a contraction). You just can’t go a week without getting owned by me. Come back again in another week when you’ve finished researching your weak arguments.

WTF was tubby in the background doing?

Looks like pushups or something.

I really hope Firas meant “staying healthy” when referring to MMA as an extreme sport and saying “70% is staying safe and winning”. I like GSP but I’m not interested in anyone playing it safe just for the W.

For the record, I think GSP plays it on the safe side with his wrestling vs. standup but at least he’s working for subs, position, GnP, etc. I’d do the same if I was a top notch wrestler. Who wouldn’t play to their strengths??

Agree with fris

it plants a seed in everyone’s mind that he might be, without actual proof and is Kos saying GSP beat him or will beat him again because of roids? I think a line is crossed without proof and bodytype is not proof! Genetics are a gift and some people have the ability to look great and others dont…

by Robert(1) on Jun 15, 2010 12:38 PM EDT reply actions

GSP is 28 years old....its honestly not that hard to look like that...he has high metabolism and a low % of body fat

its honestly not overly impressive

Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.

So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.

Your Right

But what Im saying is the rumors and allegations were already around before Kos said a single word. And maybe to you its not overly impressive but I would kill for the metabolism if thats what it is. In order to stay in the shape he does I cant eat certain things, I cant take too much time off of training, I have to constantly watch dieting. In my optimistic point of view I would just like to think he is a genetic freak and its not impossible. I have seen the Flyweight John Dodson balloon to 155+ pounds and still sport a six pack after throwing down at a buffet. Its not impossible to do what GSP does.

ANS for a MMA guru you seem very ignorant...

I’ve known many thin guys like gsp who have very low body fat, its just there body type, he claimed to have a six pack when he was ten, and so did my little brother, who was ripped naturally throughout his teens without even touching a weight. All this gsp and steriods shit is sooooo stupid. God either provide some proof or shut TFU. Gsp is no monster, has a flat chest and thin arms, half the guys in the division have bigger arms and are thicker. He’s lean year round? OMG, so are millions of other people out there with his body type who don’t work out. God you sound like an echo of sloppy bj penn. The old saying, its lonely at the top sort of applies in this situation. People try to tear you down. It just takes one gossiping lying douchebag to spread his shit and the romour is out of control. I hate shit like this because its happened to me, completely false allegations, started by who knows but people talk. Anyway, the subject is getting annoying, being someone who has relies on facts, gets a little perturbed by B.S.

well, first off.

He is not a thin guy ! He is a huge guy with extremely low body fat, he’s all muscles something the other guys are clearly not.. If it wasn’t hard to look like that all WW’s would look like that. There is no question he has the best body in his division and in the UFC and funny enough it helps his wrestling 100% so he can throw guys around which is what he wants just like Brock Lesnar when he roided his head off as a young man.

GSP!!!!! Poeple seem to have a very short attention span

It’s like ya, GSP’s last couple of fights went to decision…So what? He’s going up against top competition. Did people forget that he went up against competitors that have crazy knock out power? Of course he’s gonna take the fight to the ground and try to dominate. Why even risk standing and banging? I always hear meat heads say, “Ya, GSP is hella boring. He just takes the fight to the ground.” WTF?! of course he’s gonna do that. Stand up fighting looks really cool, but even the best stand up guys will eventually get knocked silly and risk shortening their careers, just bc people have short attention spans and would rather watch two guys throw punches…OVERRATED…Go watch a boxing match.

Did people forget about the BJ firght? or Fitch?

You get to see GSP’s dominant ground game with BJ (who is one of the craziest fighters of all time), making him quit before the fight was over, and also his skills in the stand up game. I swear all a fighter needs is two or three boring fights, and people label them as begin boring. Matt Hughes was boring, folks. Tito was boring, Mark Coleman was boring.
