Strikeforce results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Los Angeles' on June 16


Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" is set to go down TONIGHT (June 16) from L.A. LIVE at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of "Los Angeles" beginning with the Showtime telecast at 11 p.m. ET. Up-to-the-minute quick results of all the under card action will begin earlier than that at approximately 10 p.m. ET.

Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" will mark the return of Renato "Babalu" Sobral as he takes on hard-hitting slugger "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. Several of the promotion’s other top fighters will be in action as well, including a lightweight match-up between KJ Noons and Conor Huen as well as a 185-pound scrap between Tim Kennedy and Trevor Prangley.

"Ruthless" Robbie Lawler vs. Renato "Babalu" Sobral

Round one: Main event time! Feel each other out. Renato lands a leg kick. Lawler goes for an overhand right. Renato lands a knee to the face of Lawler while in the clinch. Babalu is pushing Lawler up against the cage. Renato is really working the clinch. Big John breaks it up. Lawler stuns Renato with a left hook. Lawler jumps in with a flying knee. Renato controls in the clinch again, hanging on for some recovery time. Babalu works on knees to the body. The two men are circling. More feeling out and circling. Babalu lands a leg kick and scores a takedown. Lawler is back up to this feet. Lawler checks a leg kick from Babalu. Lawler goes for a knee and Babalu drops him with a leg kick. Babalu gets on top but Lawler comes up to his feet again. Lawler's hands are low as they circle each other some more. Lawler is just looking for the hook and keeps trying it. Babalu throws a wild hook and engages in the clinch again. Babalu lands a right hook. The two men circle some more. The bell sounds.

Round two: Lawler lands a nice hook, he is more aggressive. He pushes Babalu back again with another hook. As Babalu grabs a single for a takedown, Lawler lands an uppercut. Lawler lands a left straight. Renato throws a leg kick. Babalu tries a head kick and lands, Lawler playing possum as Babalu advances, he smiles after Renato doesn't take the bait. Babalu tries another head kick. Lawler pushes Babalu back again. Lawler throws two haymakers that miss the mark. Lawler's legs and left side are red from Babalu's kicks. Babalu and Lawer are circling, Renato is beating Lawler to the punch with crisp jabs. Babalu lands a big right hook and a knee to Lawler's face. Lawler is tired. Crowd is cheering for Babalu in unision, shouting his name. Lawler tries for a head kick. Babalu turns it up. The bell sounds.

Round three: Renato gets Lawler in the clinch. Babalu lands a front body kick. Babalu goes for a take down, Lawler stuffs it. Lawler is jabbing more now and trying to set up his hook. Lawler lands a big left hook. Lawler's hands are down at his thighs now. Crowd chants "Babalu" again. Babalu goes for a spinning back fist that Lawler blocks. Lawler is clearly tired, Babalu is way more active. Lawler jukes, feints, and then goes for a head kick. Bablu lands a front kick. Crowd is cheering "Babalu" again as Babalu lands a nice shot to the body of Lawler. Lawler counters with a nice right hook. Lawler delivers two straight stiff rights to Babalu's face. Lawler turns it up and advances he knows he needs the KO to win. They trade punches. Lawler is swinging for the fences. Lawler tries and lands a right hook at the sound of the bell. Enough to win the round but probably not the fight.

Final result: Renato Sobral def. Robbie Lawler via unanimous decision


Marius "Whitemare" Zaromskis vs. Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos

Round one: Excited for this one, will we see a "Whitemare" head kick knockout here in LA? Cyborg looks much bigger than Zaromskis in this fight when they approach. They touch gloves. They are circling and feeling each other out. Whitemare with a lot of movement. Whitemare misses with a left leg kick. Cyborg delivers a flurry on Whitemare. Whitemare lands a nice left body kick. Zaromskis is rocked by a big hook from Cyborg. Whitemare goes for another head kick, almost lands. Santos lands a nice leg kick after blocking a head kick from Zaromskis. Santos delivers a nice leg kick, Zaromskis answers with a crushing body kick. Santos lands a left head kick on Mariusz, Whitemare goes for a flying knee a la Arlovski Santos knocks Zaromskis out with a counter left hook!

Final result: Evangelista Santos def. Marius Zaromskis via KO in Round 1, 2:38


Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Prangley

Round one: - Prangley lands a hook. Kennedy initiates the clinch. Prangley is pressed up against the cage and throws down Kennedy hard with a hip toss. Kennedy gets to his feet immediately. Prangley attempts a kimura. Trevor is pressed against the cage, the fighters dirty box. Prangley gets the takedown. Trevor cage walks and gets a double leg on Trevor. Prangley is on his back with Kennedy in side control. Prangley gets Tim in half guard. Kennedy tries to advance and is pressing Prangley up against the cage. Kennedy gets full mount and is laying down strikes on Prangley. Kennedy gets Prangley's back as Prangley tries to stand up. Kennedy wins VIA REAR NAKED CHOKE! Prangley is hurt.

Karl "KJ" Noons vs. Conor "Hurricane" Heun

Round one: - They advance immediately. Conor attempts a takedown. KJ gets out. Connor is aggressive. KJ lands a nice counter uppercut after ducking a large overhand right by Connor. KJ lands another uppercut. They're standing up and trading, something Heun should re-think. KJ is really finding a home for the uppercut. Heun throws head kicks galore, missing completely. KJ blocks a body kick by Heun. Heun lands a nice hook on KJ. KJ returns with his own. KJ lands a head kick. Heun is bleeding from his face. Heun lands a hook on KJ as Noons backs up. Heun lands a takedown and gets the back of Noons. Heun is trying to secure the RNC. Heun attempting full mount position. Heun is landing blows on KJ's face from full mount. Reminiscent of Hughes vs Gracie. Noons looks like he's in trouble. Heun has his back again. Heun still working for the RNC. Noons gets out of it. They're standing. Heun is tired. Noons drops Heun with an uppercut at the end of the round.

Round two: - Heun pushes KJ away after they engage in a clinch and KJ begins to dirty box. Heun almost lands with a head kick but is dropped with a stiff straight by Noons. Heun looks tired and worn out, his stand up is looking sloppy. Noons lands another big right uppercut. Heun attempts another left head kick, Noons blocks it. Noons lands a stiff left straight. Noons lands a right knee to the body of Heun. Noons lands a left hook and trades a leg kick with Heun in the process. Noons is spun around and almost falls, recovers. Noons lands a lunging left hook. Noons is really tagging Heun up. Heun taunts Noons, signaling for KJ to "come on". They stand and trade with Noons getting the better of the exchanges. Heun lands a big hook. Noons hits Heun with a knee to the face, Neun tries to reciprocate, the men swing wildly now. They're trading strikes. Heun lands a straight. They're both tired. Heun lands a knee to the face of Noons and attempts another takedown. Noons lands another big left hook. Heun takes KJ down right before the sound of the horn.

Round three: - Heun lands a head kick, but it doesn't do much damage to Noons. Heun attempts a sloppy takedown, Noons stuffs it. Noons lands a left hook. Heun lands a nice knee to the body of Noons. Noons tags Heun with a left jab. Noons jumps in with a knee to the body Noons lands two consecutive left hooks on Heuns face. Another big left hook by Noons. The men are standing, Noons is tagging up Heun's face with jabs and hooks. The men trade hooks. Heun lands a nice knee to the body of KJ. Heun attempts a long distance, slow takedown, KJ avoids it easily. Heun almost gets another takedown but KJ slips out of it. Heun attempts a big overhand that Noons slips. Heun tries another takedown but KJ avoids it. Heun lands an uppercut on KJ. KJ stuffs another takedown attempt by Heun. Crowd is cheering and clapping as Heun tries another takedown and lands a big right hook on Noons. Noons lands a big left on Heun. Back and forth fight, super exciting. Noons lands another big left uppercut. Noons lands another knee to the body after blatantly moving forward with jabs meant to do nothing. Bell sounds as Heun attempts a standing guillotine. Hard fight to call. Noons seemed to have landed more significant strikes but it could go either way.
