a had it 30-27 dunham

with the 1st rd up for debate, could’ve gone griffin’s way. rds 2 and 3 were clearly dunham’s though, he controlled the fight the whole way thru, not really sure how it was a split decision.

Dunham has done nothing but impressed me.

He is a very solid fighter who could very well be a future champ.

I’m a big-time Penn non-believer so I can actually see Frankie beating Penn again which his in and out speed(called it working the first time!!).. And if that happens again then Dunham could pose a lot of problems for Frankie.

dunham's a match-up nightmare for frankie

dunham/edgar could look alot like the fight last night. i was really impressed that dunham was taking griffin down, that’s not an easy thing to do

You called it...

Yet BJ won the first 4 rounds. Edgar’s plan was only effective after BJ slowed down. Bounce around a lot and look busy and judges think it matters.

BJ won the first 4 rounds?

Oh, I sorry.. I forgot they give the belt to the guy who only wins one round… It’s also why GSP won their first fight.. This is all making sense now!!!

You BJ fans are so S M R T.

Judges sometimes make bad decision. The fight statistics showed BJ having an edge for the first 3 rounds though.

by Jimbobb on Jun 13, 2010 10:10 PM EDT up reply actions

The fight statistics aren’t without their flaws either.

RayRay, you’re citing a decision as if it means something. Tyson Griffin just won a 29-28 round the other day. One of the judge’s in the BJ fight gave Frankie all 5 rounds. There are countless examples of idiotic judging.

Fight stats aren’t 100% dead on, but it proves that it’s not just a bunch of angry BJ fans bitching over nothing. Go read any play by play for that fight.. I went through about 10-12 of them and the closest thing I saw was a 48-48 Draw. Every other PBP write-up had BJ winning either 3 or 4 rounds. I guess they’re all BJ fans too.

Hey, All i'm saying is in the books, he lost, and in a couple years, thats all most people will remember.

My favourite fighter Shogun, lost to Machida, tho many many people thought he won, including myself, but at the end of the day, he got that loss. He came back and avenged it the right way, by KOing Machida and proving he’s the rightfully champ, if BJ does the same, good for him, I see Frankie winning again tho, personally.

Was it cecil peoples?

Haha Griffin winning TWO rounds? not even fucking close.

i was really impressed with dunham

i didnt want to overreact to the win over efrain (cause i think he’s overrated) but this was a solid win. dunham’s height and reach along with his ground game is gonna be a tough puzzle for any lightweight to solve.

by panthro on Jun 13, 2010 11:36 AM EDT reply actions

I don’t think Efrain’s overrated. He’s a tough guy. Hard to put away, has good wrestling and solid striking. I’d like to see Efrain vs. Joe Stevenson.

efrain's definetly tough

but also somewhat one-dimensional, he needs to really work on his overall game and his cardio if he wants to ever be considered a top-tier fighter

So whos next for Dunham?

Winner of Maynard Florian or maybe even the winner of Edgar Penn?

by Lester The Pimp on Jun 13, 2010 11:42 AM EDT reply actions

Dunham/Florian would be awesome. I’d like to see that.

i think the winner of florian/maynard

is gonna fight the winner of penn/edgar, i’d like to see dunham take on tibeau or maybe the winner of pellegrino/sotiropuoulus (excuse the spelling)

by panthro on Jun 13, 2010 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree with this

I’m hoping Sotiropoulos wins (he should) and then we get to see him matched up with Dunham for a shot at BJ.

by ballhawkdawk on Jun 13, 2010 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions

holy shtt

griffin looked like a effin midget. he should really consider dropping down to 145 if he ever wants to hold a title the guy is talented but the reach is gonna be a problem for him. at 145 he would be a beast. dunham really convinced me his jits are amazing but he needs to work on his striking and explosiveness

Pretty scary to think that one judge gave the fight to Griffin. That’s fucked up.

VERY FUCKED UP,

Tyson was never in control of that fight. To think a judge gave it to him is pretty fucking disturbing. Makes you wonder whether or not the judges are even watching the fight, sometimes it seems as though they’re to busy smoking meth!

by HEELHOOK on Jun 13, 2010 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions

yup

You know what they say… never leave it in the …………….

by Lester The Pimp on Jun 13, 2010 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions

nah if the judge had been smoking meth he would have been way more attentive and called the fight way better than the other judges

havent you ever seen a tweeker on a mission? when they set their minds to something damnit they accomplish it…..you tell em to judge a fight they’ll break that shit down for you…they’ll even write you an essay on the back of the card giving blow by blow commentary

you know you're having some good sex when you start planning what you're gonna say in the 911 call afterwards...

Evans bjj looked real good, but...

he didn’t look interested in finishing the fight. I know he said he was trying, but it didnt look like it. He wasn’t even trying to slip the arm under the chin. I think he was just hanging on to get the decision. Good bjj, but no killer instinct.

i disagree

he tried and almost snapped efrain’s arm in their fight. i think griffin is just a smart, tough fighter who knows how to stay out of trouble on the ground, he did a good job of controlling dunham’s hands every time he gave up his back plus as training partners griffin probably knows most of dunham’s tricks and tendencies

dumbfuck judging isnt out of the usual.
