He’s not even a gatekeeper he’s dirt!! What ha he donein his last 4 fights bar get hurt and get taken down. Even toilet was controlling him. I’m suprised they still use the boxing thing cos it’s pretty clear his stand up is basic!!

which is wrong. He’s never lost more than 2 in a row.

He had two KO's out of 11 fights in the UFC before last night..

I wouldnt say he was knocking everyone out. FYI: The guys he did knockout are nobodies as well. Having said this, I like Davis (as a middle-of-the-road fighter)

Yeah Davis has always been...

a great gate keeper. He is pretty solid b-level fighter. I always like watching him and Lytle. While he may not have a great record he has done well in a gate keeper position. He ran Hardy and Swick into decisions (who are both top 10 fighters) so to say he is dirt is a little far fetched. The guy is 9-3 in the UFC and he is garbage? Only losing to Swick, Hardy, and Saunders.

I was a fool for ever doubting Shogun. I should be ashamed for never giving him a chance to get healthy. Shogun made Machida look B-level-Just like my bet made me look b-level!

Dan hardy-just faught for the title
Swick
Alves-Already faught for title
Saunders-danger to anyone, just went to decision with top 3 WW

Hes got wins of tough guys like Chris Lytle (another good gate-keeper), Paul Kelly and Taylor, etc.

Hes a fine gatekeeper, imo.

I wouldnt call any of the guys he fought in the UFC elite...

Hardy is maybe top 5 but the rest are nowhere near elite… He fought and lost to alves 8 years ago outside the ufc, they are both much diff fighter’s today.. alves obviously is elite now, but back then not so much.. And swick is an average fighter at best

Saunders is dangerous to anyone that he can get in the clinch, thats about it.. lol and everyone goes to a decision with jon fitch.. He got dominated and really proved nothing except that he’s a tough guy.

Lytle is more well rounded and i really thought he beat him, but it was very close so i can see how it could have gone either way..
Paul kelly is a LW now, and not a great one… The paul taylor fight is the only time ive really been impressed by him, and even then he was getting smashed until he took him down and exploited taylor’s ground game.

He is a decent fighter but i dont wanna see him on any more main cards.. IMO there are better gate keepers out there.. Lytle, swick, condit, brown, even serra.

If Dan Hardy is Elite (as you said) so is Alves.

Swick and Saunders are good guys too!

he loses to those who compete, with some degree of success, against the elite and are “legit” in the division.

Obviously alves is elite....But he wasn't 8 years ago when he fought davis.

Im not saying davis isn’t a gatekeeper. I was just saying that the guys he has fought in the UFC are not “elite”, like you said they were. And there are better gatekeeper’s that i would much rather see than davis.

..misuse of the word “an”. Only used to be followed by a word that starts with a vowel.

a couple things

It’s spelled fought not faught. (Not trying to be a dick, but it’s probably a word you’re going to use a lot of your a fight fan)

He beats guys like Paul Kelly and Lytle, but they barely have positive records, he beats lower tier guys and loses to his betters in the top of the division.

Those examples you’ve posted exemplify why he is a gatekeeper.
