…saying how that was the ‘best fake fight ever’, and how him and Rampage ‘totally had everyone buying into the fake hype’.
I believe it could easily be true, though they say it was hacked. Page and Shad, hated more then anyone apparently, and never once on TUF or anything even shoved or talked sh*t after the fight. Man some these guys only get 3 mos and meet once in person before the fight and are more rivaled. This was what 20 yrs? And no pre fight contact or post fight sh*t talk? Kinda reeks of sh*t to me.

There was too much hype for this fight!
I had friends asking me about this fight all weekend and these are people that don’t really pay attention to the sport, but they saw all the commercials all the shit talking and the fell for the UFC marketing. I don’t fall for that sort of hype anymore plus everyone here in mania doesn’t need that kind of stuff to get us to watch, we’re already going to see it. Feel bad for snoop dogg, mike Tyson and everybody else that had high hopes for this fight. But do I believe they hate each other? I kind of think Rampage truly does hate Rashad but Rashad was just selling the fight imo.

On another note (and not sure if this was discussed in other threads)….did anyone else think the Cane fight may have been stopped a bit early? It seemed like he WAS rocked but wasn’t even given a split second to compose himself and was starting to cover his face before Herb Dean jumped in.

It coulda been seen either way, but I wasn’t overly upset, it was not bad nor good, just kinda happened I guess. One more shot coulda been allowed but may have saved a tko from being tko. But its debatable. The one that urked me was Lavigne’s dumbass loosening Brilz grip and possibly giving Nog fresh inhale for new full lungs when he thought Nog was going out and grabbed physically the hand of Brilz/Nogs to stop the fight til Nog clearly waved him off saying he’s okay. Gotta be fukn careful for all we know Nog was going under but that early slight stoppage may have allowed one key inhale again allowing another 10 to in some cases 30 seconds to hang on and work yourself out. Annoying stuff.
Happened in Dream on Fri/Sat when Sakuraba’s only chance he had to beat Gracie (who looked fabulous btw) was completely ruined, to the degree I would call it the worst ruining of adrenaline and position I’ve ever seen in MMA with 1 min left in the fight.

I’m not a huge Cane fan so it didn’t bother me too much either. And I can see both ways too. One more punch could cause injury vs. early stoppage pissing people off and resulting in a bad loss. There just seems to be such inconsitency – that’s the problem. But, like with any human interaction, there will be times when they get it right/wrong. And Herb’s usually spot-on which helps to justify.
And ya – that Lavigne stunt was total B.S.

Plays to the crowd more than anything. Depends on the fighters, but some of the staredowns are actually pretty damn entertaining. Don Frye vs John Thompson; almost any Wand staredown; hell the Shad/Page staredown was more intense then the fight.
