UFC 116 odds: Shane Carwin opens as a +160 underdog

Preliminary odds and betting lines are out for the upcoming UFC 116 event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring a titanic heavyweight showdown between division champion Brock Lesnar and interim titlist Shane Carwin.
"Lesnar vs. Carwin" marks the return of the promotion's biggest box office draw, Lesnar, who will try and battle his way back from a career-threatening intestinal problem to once again establish himself as the undisputed man among men.
Apparently the time off hasn't hurt his reputation, as the pasty-faced goliath has opened as a -200 favorite against fellow muscular meatwagon, Carwin, who currently stands at a very temporary +160 underdog.
Don't expect that number to last.
As more and more of the "Engineer's" faithful drop their change into the Vegas offering plate, plan on watching those odds plummet considerably.
Rashad Evans, who faces Quinton Jackson at UFC 114 tonight (May 29) on pay-per-view, also opened on the triple-digit side of the dogs, and now stands dead even with "Rampage" at -115.
Keep that in mind if you want to try and make some money on Carwin this fourth of July weekend.

I agree he's been off a while
But I still think brock has it in him. He’s a natural athlete and it’s not really that difficult to bounce back. I’m not saying he’s gonna be as good as he would have been had they fought a while ago but I think he still has a good chance to win this fight, regardless of his past illness.
Also on the betting topic. I really think no matter what happens to Brock he’ll always be the fav in betting, lol.

Never bet on the long layoff guy coming off an injury.
Especially one that almost died.

A good strategy for Carwin would be to test Brock's cardio.
Then again, a first round knockout sounds good too.

I like the 1st round KO idea.

Love bones and couture but the odds arnt worth it. I’m lost on the penn/edgar fight and may take maynard if the odds move a little further in his favor…

I am backing the Mechanic here . . . I can not wait until he connects on Lesnar’s jaw. I really think there are two likely outcomes here:
1. Carwin KO’s Lesnar
2. The two gorilla’s go back to their tights wearing day and cuddle on the ground
I am betting on outcome 1.
