This past weekend UFC counter programmed Strikeforce with "Ultimate Fights" and it worked. Strikeforce Heavy Artillery had 308,000 viewers tune in to their Showtime broadcast. The UFC's "Ultimate Fights" special more than doubled that number with 894,000 viewers.
Showtime is available in 12 million homes, where as Spike is televised in 98.6 million homes. The numbers have not been to great for Strikeforce lately. The Strikeforce Miami event drew in 517,000 viewers with Nick Diaz, Bobby Lashley, Cyborg Santos, and Herschel Walker. Strikeforce Evolution drew 341,000 viewers with the Melendez vs Thomson and Cung Le vs Scott Smith bouts. I think if Strikeforce wants to compete they need to get away from showtime, their CBS events have done between 3 and 5 million viewers.
