And the 2 big connections were both when GSP was attempting a punch of his own but lost his footing both times, Serra caught him while he was slipping both times. Go watch for yourself. And if anyone should no better its you ANS, taking a punch when your slipping takes you out of your realm, element of surprise is huge then, and it loosens what you normally have clenched (your jaw).

MMA Striking is not the same as Boxing. That’s why any pro boxer would destroy a MMA fighter if it was striking only, but in a fight the MMA fighter is the best and most exciting.

JasonFahQ I totally agree I was talking about this with some friends last night flipping through the channels and boxing was on how a good punch starts in the feet and the way they are standing SCREAMS take me down or leg kick the shit out of me. Proper Boxing stance which = good punches because that is all they do, does not make sense in MMA. So the most basic part of trying to be technical to through a punch cannot happen so people must adapt.

While He may need space to shoot, Paq would have to worry about the kicks, the hands, and the takedowns. Another thing is GSP may not need all that much space to shoot, he needs just enough room to grab him, tie him up, grab the legs or trip, and down they go. It is not like GSP has no punch defense(he has good defense), while I would venture to say that Pac Man has very little kick and takedown defense. So to say GSP would be out instantly is crazy. Suddenly GSP has 0 punch defense because Serra caught him in transition?

The first hit hurt gsp badly, he was messed up……watch carefully?…ya I did, and each time, serra hits gsp behind the ear as he ducks which was serras first hit, gsp staggers and falls down, and serra keeps hitting him. After the first hit the rest was gravy, the first hit is the one that won the fight. The follow up hits kept gsp from regaining his composure/equilibrium, serra did a great job. But I’ve never seen gsp even ONCE get rocked originally from the chin, gsp was on queer street after the first hit, he was a duck in the water.

St. Pierre has never been Ko’d. He was rocked by a punch to the head and took about 20 follow up shots and still wasn’t KO’d.

Your example of Tiger Woods winning such a poll actually gives support to the question you are attempting to ridicule. See, golfers aren’t exactly “athletes”. Golf is a competition, and for some reason people often erroneously equate competition with athletics. It’s the same with Poker. Not a sport.

GSP would lose a boxing match, but, in any other set of rules GSP kills him. GSP beats Pac Man in kickboxing, wrestling, Juijitsu, Muai Thai, Greco, Karate and Street fighting. Hell, I would like to watch Pac Man fight a Muai Thai fighter or Kickboxer, he loses those fights too.
