Jose Aldo eyes UFC future after taking care of featherweight business

Quoteworthy:
"At the moment I am still not thinking about it. First I have to train and defend the title a few times in my division. It is a plan for the future, but not now, just for a distant future. I intend to fight in the UFC, absolutely. I do not believe in fighting against B.J. or anyone else (right now). Before I get there, I have to do some fights to adapt to the weight, and then I'll just see what happens."
145-pound wrecking ball Jose Aldo makes no bones about moving up to lightweight for a future in the UFC; however, "Junior" recognizes he still has some unfinished business in the WEC featherweight division and will need a few fights to adjust at 155-pounds before taking on the world's best. Still, it's hard not to get excited about the prospect of Aldo mixing it up with the UFC's best -- especially after he laid waste to Urijah Faber, Mike Brown, and pretty much anyone else the WEC had to offer.

defend the title a few times in my division
Against who? Probably Manny then the winner of Faber/Brown 3? Or Cruz at 145? Or Henderson at 155? F it!!! 155 in the UFC now please

there's nothing for him in the WEC
He needs to make the move asap! He will destroy everyone in the WEC (135, 145, & 155).
agreed...the only guys I'd be interested in seeing him fight now in the WEC would be Cruz or Torres just so he can say he not only cleared out his division...he cleared out the organization

Aldo/Henderson?

I think he'd embarass Torres!
I’d enjoy that fight just becaue it would showcase his stand up, but he would lay a beating on Torres IMO. If the WEC stays around, I doubt they’ll let him move weight classes and destroy all their champs. I agree w/ you that if he has another fight it will probably be Manny, and then who knows…
lol @ that idea CHAMP...but not becuse its unrealistic...I'd pick Aldo

I know it's funny but crazier shit has happen lately.
I’d pick Aldo too.

If we have to see Aldo Fight in WEC.....
…Let Manny Fight Faber, Aldo Fights for 135lb title and 155lb title… If Manny is the title holder and hasnt lost at 145lbs Aldo can clean Manny’s clock before he goes into the UFC..
leave wec already!
There is no comp there in wec. There plenty of fresh challenges in the ufc for him..can he take them on ?? That’s sumthing we gotta see for ourselves.

There really is nothing in the WEC. Why in the hell would he stay there? Aldo vs _ isn’t going to sell any PPV’s in the WEC. He’s already beat up the best. Manny is a waste of time.

Its like the entire fight world missed the memo...
EDGAR is the UFC LW champ. people keep talking about aldo going to the UFC to fight bj…yeah aldo/penn would be a sick fight. but i just find it interesting no one is talking about aldo going to the UFC to take the belt from the CHAMP, Edgar.
apparently although I've heard BJ might try and wait till a Hawaii show

I heard an interview where BJ
Said he didn’t care who he would fight, just that he wanted a fight right away. Dana told him they wanted him to rematch Frankie and towards the end of summer. Gotta be the Boston card.

hmmm...I did not know that...I wouldn't want to wait either

Too long of a wait for both guys.

Here's The Bottom Line
You guys know I’m a huge Bj fan. I’ve been a fan for years and he’s the reason I got into mma, but I’m not liking his chances at any future success right now. First of all, he looked pudgy as hell in his last fight…he looked like a different man then the lightweight that fought Kenny or Diego. Check out bjpenn.com he’s got video blogs of him eating bacon cheeseburgers, fries, fried chicken, pancakes…what the hell? This is his job…wtf? He really is pissing me off as a fan. He’s in his prime and just lost his title and he’s chillin in Hawaii eating this shit…I would be training my ass off like a wild animal. If Penn comes into his next fight out of shape, i’m done with him…I will no longer be a fan because most people in this world have to work their asses off to make it and Penn is throwing his rare, God-given talent away. He’s done a lot but he’s got so much more to give.

I think more than the belt
Aldo would want the highest profile fight at LW. Which, right now, would be Penn even without the title.
I would like to see him defend
the FW title a few times. WEC has been pretty agressive signing fighters and there are some matchups to be made for sure. Before Bowles, Torres seemed unstoppable at 135 and people were starting to talk of him moving up. Not taking anything away from Aldo, who I think highly of, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
I don't think Torres was ever as dominant as Aldo is
I was never sold on Torres, and wasn’t surprised when he lost. He won a lot of close fights, and it wasn’t like he never got in a bad spot, or didn’t take any damage. Aldo isn’t even getting touched!
How was he not dominant?
This was Aldo’s first defense of the title. Again, I love Aldo, but let’s not get too far out there on him.
why not? I've never even seen him remotely in trouble

I didn't say he wasn't dominant
I said he was never as dominant as aldo is. Torres fought a lot of closer fights than Aldo is fighting.
Ok I see what you meant but,
Torres defended the strap 3 times and only had 1 decision. But you’re right Aldo does seem to be on another level from the rest of the competition. I guess my point is that I had similar thoughts about Torres before he lost to Bowles. I would just like to see him defend a few times before all this talk of being a 3 div champ and all.
I know what you mean
Torres was top 5 pfp on some lists. Aldo is still young and doesn’t have a ton of fights behind him in the big shows, so there is still a lot to be determined. There is definitely nothing wrong w/ your POV.
We are on the same page then.
It’s crazy the dude is only 23 and already such a bad ass. I also think that 145 and 135 are going to be much more competitive in the next couple of years.
Nothing new!

"No one wants to be defeated" Michael Jackson on MMA fights
Dana stated Aldo could fight at the lighter division. There’s Torres out there and Bowles. I prefer, with this scenario, he goes up.
"No one wants to be defeated" Michael Jackson on MMA fights
I think Cruz
would make for a great fight. Cruz has good movement and technique and is very tall and rangy for 135. I don’t think he would win, but depending on how bad the cut drained Aldo it could turn into a close fight.
Good and news, he could wreck havok on his division, but gotta give him credit for moving up
unlike (cough, cough) that canadian guy.
