WEC 48 fighter payouts and salaries for 'Aldo vs Faber'

The official fighter purses for those who competed at WEC 48: "Aldo vs. Faber" this past Saturday night (April 24) from the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California were released earlier today by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

The WEC's first pay-per-view event was supposedly designed to largely increase fighter paydays, but according to these numbers, there doesn't appear to be too much of a difference in this fight card's payouts and other WEC events that preceded it.

Defending featherweight champion and fast-rising pound-for-pound contender Jose Aldo walked away from his title defense with $40,000, the highest salary of any of the card's participants. His opponent, Urijah Faber, pulled in a cool $28,000.

The promotion's lightweight champion, Ben Henderson, earned $26,000 for his first round submission victory over Donald Cerrone, who took home $14,000.

Leonard Garcia -- $28,000 ($14,000 to show, $14,000 to win)

Takeya Mizugaki -- $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 to win)
Rani Yahya -- $9,000
Mizugaki defeated Yahya via unanimous decision

Tyler Toner -- $5,000 ($3,000 to show, $2,000 to win)
Brandon Visher -- $4,000
Toner defeated Visher via technical knockout in round one

Keep in mind the salaries listed above do not include fight bonuses, sponsorships, percentages and other unofficial payments. It also does not include deductions for expenses such as insurance, taxes, etc.

For example, the WEC hands out extra cash for "Fight of the Night," "Knockout of the Night" and "Submission of the Night." This event did see a rise in those numbers to a tune of $65,000 per award. To check out these figures for WEC 48: "Aldo vs. Faber" go here.
