Scott Smith and Cung Le 'in talks' for another go-round in Strikeforce on June 26
MIRACLE IN SAN JOSE!
Or was it a fluke? Hard-hitting middleweight Scott Smith is hoping to prove the former in a potential rematch with ex-Strikeforce 185-pound Champion Cung Le at the upcoming Showtime event planned for June 26 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
MMA Fighting first reported the proposed match-up on April 18 and MMAmania.com has since confirmed with a source close to one of the fight camps that the fighters are currently "in talks" and bout agreements have not yet been distributed.
"Hands of Steel" first met Le back at Strikeforce: "Evolution" last December, where the part-time movie star battered him for the better part of three rounds. Apparently Le forgot to read the manual on Smith's third round heroics and got caught in one of his patented come-from-behind miracles in the bout's final minutes.
Repeat -- or retaliation? We may find out this June.
Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Werdum" is hoping to arrange a battle between famed Russian heavyweight Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko and Brazilian grappler Fabricio "Vai Cavalo" Werdum.
Unfortunately negotiations between Strikeforce and M-1 are still ongoing, and Emelianenko's participation seems more and more unlikely as time goes on.
The promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for future updates on this still developing fight card.

i would say you don't get "lucky" twice
but scott smith has a made a name off of doing it
I'm not afraid of dying, I'm a little bit scared of what comes after

Yea I can't call it luck after it happens 3-4 times
He takes a beating but he’s just dangerous at all times no matter what happens in the fight; Cung looked great first 2 rds, then he gassed and got dealt with; can’t take anything away from Scott. One of the most entertaining fighters out there.

It wouldn't surprise me if Smith wins again
He’s relentless, never gives up and has the firepower to make it happen. Just can’t count the guy out.

kinda gay..
they wanted cung to win so they make a rematch, it does crack me up wen ppl call him “dung le” though..
For what profit is it to man if he gains the world , and loses his own soul?

Dung le?
I guess it’s kinda funny, but I don’t see it. When Cung gets in there and showcases some flashy kicks and striking nobody’s satisfied and starts the Dung slinging. He ain’t in the top tier of fighters but what do you want people. When we get 3-5 rounds of ground n pound everybody gets butthurt about the whole event, snoozefest, rather have that people?

this sucks
why an immediate rematch? they have to invalidate scott’s win now because they wanted cung to win? not cool. i hope scott KTFO Le again.

Free cards
Well since every strikeforce fight hasn’t been a PPV I guess you’ll be watching every event.

Dung Le doesnt deserve it lol
Cmon you got knocked OUT, you dont get a fucking rematch right immediately after that.

Didn't care about this the first time....
And still don’t.
Somehow Dung Le (love that) has found a way to make striking boring.
Yawn.
I hope this isn't the future of Strikeforce
I’d rather see Cung Le vs. Melvin Manhoef and Scott Smith vs. Matt Lindland

true
but I was implying rematches…I don’t like seeing the same fighters go at it repeatedly, there are far to many other MMA fighters to do repeats.

trouble is...
strikeforce has no options but to just recycle existing fighters. the roster just ain’t that deep.
formerly JB, trying to figure out this whole new SB deal. oh, and another thing; i'm not impressed by your performance.
Would be a great fight
Have a feeling it’d be over quick but the anticipation/hype leading up to the fight would be great. Was also thinking Le vs Lawler.

Terrible
Just because Scott spoilt SF’s plans by KO’g their posterboy doesn’t mean that Dung deserves an instant rematch, that’s just ridiculous. Either they’re desperate for Dung to KO Scott or that is the only fight that the pathetic D list fight ducking poser will accept as he’s scared of fighting a top grappler like Jake, Jacare, Hendo or even Lindland and Mayhem. Hopefully my boy Scott ruins SF’s plans once again.

Congratulations Jake, Gil and Mo. From the only Maniac to pick all 3 of them.
