Shinya Aoki (and his flip-flops) take 'Music City' (Video)
If both "El Nino" and "Tobikan Judan" bring their A-games you're looking at an early candidate for fight of the year.

Aoki is 155 lbs of pure danger and if he wins tonight he has to be considered top p4p I am looking forward to see this fight the most
I wouldnt be suprised if he takes the sforce belt back to japan and never comes back. His way of saying I came to america and beat thier champion. I know hes loyal to dream and it would add that much more to his ore he would be fedor like in japan and could help take his home promotion to another level.
But what I want to know is who is responsible for this guys world class jui jitzsu. He is considered one of the best ground fighters in MMA but where did he learn. Great non-brazilian ground fighters in most cases mastered the craft from a brazilian, like the diaz’s under ceaser gracie.
I mean this guy is an anomolly the only other japanese fighters that I can think of who had a decent submision game was yoshida and sakuraba
So again where and how and by who did this guy become such a submission wizard
your thought process is flawed...
Brazilians aren’t the sole keepers of the worlds grappling wisdom….

never heard of him but if hes partly responsible for aoki's skills thats impressive
I wasnt trying to imply that all great grapplers are braazilian (but you cant dispute the fact that most of them are)
fomer vale tudo/shooto fighter...
he didn’t fight for long though….only has an 8-2 record……or should i say he didn’t fight too many sanctioned fights…

Its because
Gerard Gordeau gouged his eye to the point of permanent blindness during the first round of Vale Tudo 95. While blinded Nakai heel hooked Gordeau in the 4th. Nakai went on to fight twice more that night fighting an American and winning then losing to Rickson Gracie with a patch over his eye to prevent further damage. After that his MMA career was over.
However while he gave up MMA, (keeping his blindness a secret for years to protect the sport from a backlash), he took up BJJ, became a black belt and took on Aoki and I believe Kitaoka as well. Aoki however is also a Judo black belt and has trained with Eddie Bravo extensively which is why he uses rubber guard so much.
Gimme 1 round!

I dunno how..
you have Aoki ranked ahead of BJ despite the bullish decision loss. Aoki has lost more at LW recently than BJ.
Undisputed Sig Bet Champion on the TitoOrtiz/Fight Pros forums!!
BJ Penn, best P4P fighter on the planet. I'll still stand by that all day long, bitches.
R.I.P. Dime.
Incorrect
Aoki has lost ONCE at lightweight. He avenged that twice.
His only other losses are to welterweights.
Do your research.
After a minor genealogical search, I have determined that Cain Velasquez's great-grandfather was a truck.
And Mirko Cro Cop is a direct descendant of a wrecking ball. But I think you already knew that.
I was thinking that too.
He has a great record. Hansen (2), JZ Calvan, Uno, Alvarez, Ribeiro, Hirota, and if he wins tonight, Melendez also.
By FAR
The highest degree of difficulty as far as record goes of anybody outside of like Dong Sik Yoon.
Gimme 1 round!

Not incorrect.
Reading comprehension, please. Shinya lost in 08’ and BJ in 02.’ Thefore Aoki had lost more recently than BJ. Especially now. Aoki lost more recently…like I said silly, child. Reading comprehension.

I got Aoki.
I am a fan though. He is one of those guys like Belfort and Valasquez that I always root for,
Aoki was already #1
Now hes just undiputed #1 and if he wins this he will continue to be undisputed #1 Gilbert gets the diputed #1 if he wins.
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
we know who the #1 is lol
i cant wait for this fight though hope Gilbert wins this and comes to the UFC
Open up the Shit Gates and where the Hell was Marv?
i would rather see an aoki/BJ fight
i don’t see that happening in the ufc though……..well lets get ready for another sub victory for the tobikan judan…..

you guys are crazy
aoki is getting abused tonight for likely 5 rounds en route to a melendez smashing decision if not tko gnp finish.
i’m calling it fairly one-sided.
formerly JB, trying to figure out this whole new SB deal. oh, and another thing; i'm not impressed by your performance.
