I think there might be some truth to his sickness and he probably knows he would beat Frankie on most nights. He’s probably pretty confident that he’ll get the belt back.

He did look kind of pissed that he had to go back outside and go next door though.

yeah, bj definitely had make-up on.. but who cares about the sunglasses? it’s a preference i guess.. i think its dumb looking, but i don’t take that into account when judging character..
imo- bj has dealt with this loss better then ever.. he seems very relaxed and outgoing.. especially on fox news grappling with that dude..

And I’m sure UFC management knows it hence the rematch. I think penn will be scary in his next fight. For gods sake penn, take the guy down a couple times and use you jits, hate to say it but in a way he deserved to lose and now he got his wake up call.
He knows he can win that fight, probably very dissapointed in himself for letting it go down that way, no judges ever again if i was him, and no fighting sick (even if you dont want to dissapoint fans and UFC management at the most exotic location and think you can win sick or not) (if that is true about his sinus infect . . . . and if it is, he deserved to lose it, like shogun/forrest, come sick/injured and get worked, dont complain after, win and boast the night away.) BJ BJ BJ!!!

the fight was neither exciting or close
an uneventful stalemate that clearly had BJ winning 2 rounds and Serra 1. imo

BJ won the first two, and Serra was winning the last one. you knew it wasn’t going to be a 10-8, and BJ wasn’t in any danger of KO or Sub. predictable decision

This was pretty funny
I thought BJ lost the fight and one reason, his legendary (in his mind at least) ability to take punishment without showing the effects, was not working against Frankie. Both his eyes were blackened and obviously a weak later they still are.
Remember I think against GSP he bragged GSP went to the hospital while he went out partying? He wasn’t bragging that after this loss. I do think a rematch will be more interesting and probably see a more aggressive BJ Penn.
He’s definitely an egomaniac, but a lot of athletes/fighters are, it is good fun he dropped in on an old opponent. Matt Serra is overdue to fight again, he’s amusing on the mic, put him against Hardy that would get some good pull quotes.
