Mark Munoz: 'I got no quit in me'

Quoteworthy:
"I just want to improve every time I step into the cage. I wanted to put on a dominant performance and I'm happy with my performance but I did get caught with an uppercut but it's all good because I got no quit in me. That's my goal -- every time I step into the cage I get better. Whatever the UFC gives me [next] I'll be happy to take."
Up-and-coming middleweight Mark Munoz talks to the media following his come-from-behind victory over Kendall Grove at UFC 112 last Saturday from the Concert Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. "The Philippine Wrecking Machine" almost got wrecked by "Da Spyder" after getting dropped with a perfectly-timed uppercut that sent the former light heavyweight crashing to the floor and clinging to Grove's legs for dear life. He eventually recovered and survived multiple submission attempts before unloading his feared ground and pound and forcing the stoppage. Any thoughts on who his next fight should be?

Mark really impressed me
I thought he was done after the first round. He showed a ton of guts coming back and pounding out Grove. Maybe Jorge Rivera next? He looked on point against Nate Quarry and hits hard enough that he would have ended the fight if he hit him flush like Grove did.
Props to Mark
I thought he was going out 3 times plus he got caught once, there is no quit in him. That was some serious heart on display there!!!!
This guy is getting REALLY good... BUT
I cant’t stop thinking about how he got head kick KO’d by Matt Hammil lol
how is that even possible?

He almost got KTFO by Grove so why wouldnt it be possible?
Dont get why this guy gets any praise, he looked terrible last night and was so extremely close to getting knocked out and was dominated 10-8 in the first round but was lucky and survived

Luck?
Mark showed that he can survive even when he’s hurt.. It’s Kendall’s fault not being able to finish him.. Knew that once Mark got it to the ground it would be GnP paradise..
Conan : You are known as a striker. Is that correct? Tell me what that means.
Chuck : Well I like to punch people, or kick them.
I certainly hope its not...
He did well and ended up burning himself out, but definitely not worthy to be cut.
Lesnar > [Carwin] ---> Lesnar > [Velasquez] ---> Lesnar > [JDS]
Overeem will NOT show up on May 15th! Mark my words. Sig stays til then.
grove is an entertaining fighter who always brings it.

Grove is definitely a fun fighter to watch. I feel he has a true fighters heart.
I just wish he could put it all together.
But going into the fight I had Munoz being the favored fighter, but wanted Grove to win because I felt as if he were to lose he’d be cut.

He won't be cut.
He won TUF and wasn’t even on a losing streak. Plus, he hasn’t been in any boring fights, there’s no reason to think he’ll be cut.

Im not a huge Grove fan, but...
how could this be cut worthy. some of you should need to pass a simple apitude (mma) test to post. Just because you’re not a fan doesn’t mean you have to hate! Perfect example, I’m not a GSP fan, at all, but he’s unreal and almost not human! you are allowed to tell the truth and not be a fan!
I'm sorry it bothers you I am not a Kendall Grove fan.
I don’t hate the guy – the only thing I know about him is that he is a mediocre MW in the UFC, who does way too much pre/post fight showboating (gravedigging, etc) for a fighter of his talent. I would not be sorry if he were let go and would not ever miss him in the octagon.
the grave digger is one of main reasons I dislike him
but if I recall, he didn’t do it after last win (correct me if I’m wrong). I agree he’s mediocre/average, but he’s better than half the mw’s out there. his use of elbows in the stand up is good too. It doesn’t bother me you’re not a fan, just that you guys (some of you) want a guy to get cut based on 1 fight or your dislike of him. also if you don’t like his antics, you must want Anderson Silva cut too!?
That's why I threw in the "talent" component. Anderson is a fighter of another dimension who is not immune to the same judgement, but garners more tolerance.
But even he only gets so much slack. If the crap continues, he will chase away fans as well. I bet it’s already happened.
agreed
and as a side note, from what I’m hearing, Maia started the shit talking by saying “you’re a black belt, come down here and prove it.”
I'd like to see Munoz fight either Cote or Belcher.
I think it would be a good contrast of styles and would really force Munoz to work on his striking. I think that either the winner or loser of their fight would be a step up in competition for Munoz and a good challenge for them.

A little sloppy but plenty of heart
Munoz is doing the right thing by training with Black House but I’m still surprised at how sloppy he was in the first three minutes of the fight. He doesn’t have Anderson Silva quickness so he needs to be more evasive and technical. I think he has a bright future with his wrestling base but he needs to understand his limitations and keep them from becoming liabilities in the cage.
It amazes me that Grove had two near submissions after all the rolling Munoz has done with the Nogs.
I think training with them is the only thing that kept him from getting submitted.
I was surprised that he kept putting himself in a position where Kendall could catch him, but I was impressed that he was able to stay calm and work out of the submission attempts.
