UFC 112 post fight press conference video

Anderson_silva_maia_112_medium

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) put a ribbon on its first foray into the Middle East with its standard post-fight press conference.

However, there was nothing standard about what was said after UFC 112: "Invincible," which took place at the Concert Arena on Yaz Island in Abu Dhabi.

Company president Dana White was visibly upset about the performance of his middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, but tried to buoy his own spirits by reminding himself about the highlights of the night, including Frankie Edgar somehow prying the lightweight crown from BJ Penn's Kung Fu grip.

White, Edgar, Matt Hughes, Mark Munoz and even Silva all attended the UFC 112 press conference last night to talk about "Invincible" and much more.

I hope Dana punishes Silva

by nipping his “I don’t fight my friends” bullshit in the bud and make him fight Machida. This is the THIRD time in FOUR fights that Silva was booed down!

If this happens, please god let it be on the undercard. That would be the most boring fight ever.

Machida/AS would be napper for sure.

ANDERSON SHOULD BE PUNISHED

I don’t know what the answer is, maybe $10 or 1/2 price PPV next time? And/Or last chance to impress fight for Anderson, if next one sucks make him vacate title and move him up in weight?
He is such an amazing fighter….no I mean he a fighter with such amazing talent, too bad he’s such a childish idiot. What a BS comment about he was disrespected, that was pretty bloody mild fighter pre-fight talking, he has disrespected the sport, the fighters and the fans…ummm repeatedly.
Overall, the lamest UFC I have probably seen ever, and that would cover all of them.
I just hope Dana sticks to his after fight feelings and really does something significant.

Edgar vs Maynard II is on tap

bet your butt on it. Gray is the current top contender and the only guy to beat Frankie. Florian gets the winner of that fight while BJ is putting in his 2 buildup fights. Kenny may finally get to wear the belt afterall….till BJ comes and takes it back.

But maybe if we get enough people to become a fan of…Dana will give us something back for that waste of $50.

It's a good thought but if you really want Dana to take notice...

DO NOT BUY the next PPV featuring Anderson Silva.

It’s the only way to make a statement. When Anderson starts costing the UFC revenue, and they have to pay him on top of that, something will change.

by DJ(MMA) on Apr 11, 2010 12:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Done!

I won’t ever purchase another fight with Anderson Silva on the card. I’m so disgusted with that PPV fight I may not purchase another one for a very long time.

by Chris Lauer on Apr 11, 2010 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

good point

I don’t know what Anderson is trying to do. Is he trying to be the next Muhammad Ali? He has to finish guys or at least attack them after he taunts them. He comes off as a weird, confusing, disrespectful man. Anderson I don’t know what message your trying to get across, but it’s not working. Your a great fighter, please use that talent.

ITS NOT ANDERSON'S FAULT!!!!!

THE UFC LIMITS ITS COMPETITION BY EXCLUDING OUTSIDE CONTRACTS FROM COMING IN AND PRESENTING DECENT CHALLENGERS TO SILVA AND GSP. OF COURSE ANDERSON’S GONNA CLOWN, THAT’S WHAT TALENTED PEOPLE DO WHEN THEY’RE BORED. DANA’S JUST TRYING TO COVER HIS ASS BECAUSE HE SEES THAT THEIR “MOM & POP SHOP” PLAN MAY BE THE ONE THING THAT BRINGS THE UFC DOWN.

#1 Clownin Combat Sports History...

was Ali…And in all of his taunting and showing, he pushed the pace and attacked. So acting like an ass clown is his fault. Maia got the better of the striking in the 5th and since he pushed the action in the 4th, could have even gotten that round. Silva is a joke to the sport. He was my favorite fighter till Saturday. You don’t see the pattern. Thales got the same idiocy, Cote got 10 minutes of circling before he blew his knee, Forrest was getting some to (but since Forrest is about making a fight exciting he walked right into his BS game of shaking, dancining and complaining that he is not engaging while he does the exact same thing), and now Maia.

The other part that makes him an ass is that he was upset and insulted that Maia said he was going to take one of the Spiders legs! Umm, yeah of course that is his gameplan-He is a BJJ Master! What is insulting about that? It is no more insulting then Anderson saying he is going to KO Maia.

Dana just said Fedor is No. 1

He said, "People were shouting “Fedor is P4P no. 1” so they know what’s going on!"

by (shonuff) on Apr 11, 2010 10:29 AM EDT reply actions

Come on Shonuff, that doesn't mean that he believes that Fedor is #1

I’m not condoning Anderson’s behavior or performance but all he meant is that the fans were greatly displeased, nothing more. I was more upset with his taunting and disrespectful gestures (verbal and physical) than I was by his performance. He completely dominated Maia. Did you see Maia’s face after the fight? That wasn’t done by a guy who danced with him for 25 minutes. Anderson’s performances against Cote, Leites and Maia are just as much, if not more, the fault of the UFC. Those 3 guys, with all due respect, have a zero chance of beating Anderson. Give Anderson what he wants and needs. A legit challenger like Rampage/Evans winner, Thiago Silva or maybe even Brandon Vera.

by Adam T. on Apr 11, 2010 11:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Dana KNOWS Fedor is #1. He always has.

This is just the first time he’s been pissed off enough at Silva to confirm what he usually denies for business purposes.

by (shonuff) on Apr 11, 2010 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh, and one correction

Anderson doesn’t want legit challengers. He wants to be spoon fed and retire with the longest unbeaten streak in UFC history. He talks a lot of crap but then when he has a chance to fight top guys or guys that could be a real challenge for him, he tries to wiggle out of it.

by (shonuff) on Apr 11, 2010 12:36 PM EDT up reply actions

WTF is he dodging?

Is it his fault Belfort withdrew?
Who has he been spoon fed shonuff? He has destroyed everybody put in front of him. He needs to fight the best in the higher weight classes, it’s pretty evident. Maia has no business in the same octagon.

by Adam T. on Apr 11, 2010 4:52 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I don't know if he has refused any fights . . .

but he has certainly questioned whether certain fighters (i.e. Dan Henderson) deserve to fight him. And there’s much speculation that that incident contributed to Henderson getting passed over for the title shot, even after he was told he would get one with a win over Bisping.

Henderson had a title shot, and lost.

by mythbuster on Apr 11, 2010 7:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but after he lost he beat Rich Franklin and coached TUF 9, after him and Bisping fought the winner was promised a title shot. Hendo won, but Dana gave the shot to Vitor (after his win to Franklin) instead. After that Dan Hen dropped UFC and went to Strikeforce, so he never got the title shot he was promised. If Silva and Hendo had match 2 for the title and Silva disgraced himself like he did against Maia, Dan would of knocked his ass out.

Sorry I dont get this?

What did Maia say about Anderson that made him feel disrespected? Honestly what a bunch of BS! The sad thing about this is who in the world could we feed him to that would tool Silva? Just really disapointed about last night.

Did you happen to purchase the fight via PPV? @BigDickChainey

Cuz I did and it was the biggest waste of money. Regardless of him winning the way ‘he wanted to,’ it was pathetic and an embarrassment for the sport. Honestly who can’t dance around for 25 minutes, hide behind Margliotta, and land a strike once a round? I was so excited to see him fight since he hasnt in a year, what a huge let down. He also didn’t help his reputation in the post fight press conference. He was such a smug, arrogant, prick. I wish Dana White came interrupted the press conference to rear naked choke silva out. That would have made the ppv worth while.

come on come on i heard him say in English. Even if he did i still support Silva he just totally made him crumble mentally a fear every little movement from Silva. He humiliated im and i really hope he does the same to James Toney then the boxing fans will see what MMA is all about. The best fighter ever he is imo

I was a fool to think Bisping had any chance against the Axe Murderer, and even more foolish to bet agaisnt the great Puck Head.

i really hope that dana can sign fedor

and fuck the fedor/brock match…put fedor/silva right away. fuck it. we know fedor wont dance around the outside afraid to engage. and if he lands a bomb it could be long night for asshole silva

by Newfie3 on Apr 11, 2010 10:58 AM EDT reply actions

Silva is bad for the sport.

He is the only one who has this problem. Any other fighter who is that much better than his opponent would finish them quickly. I will not buy another silva fight. 3hat was disgraceful.

i was thinking that

i think he is the only pro athlete with this problem lol well the ones who talk alot of smack

jordan talked more trash that anyone. but he was the best and backed it up. silva didnt do anything to impress yesterday just dancin around taunting like an asshole

by Newfie3 on Apr 11, 2010 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions

in my opinion

Silva needs competition. He needs to fight guys like rampage or even mir, bigger guys that are going to come forward. I have a problem with his antics, but look at Maia’s face. If he hadn’t stopped throwing punches in the 4th and 5th it wouldn’t have been as bad!

by kevjack115 on Apr 11, 2010 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

Maias face was battered.

But that’s kind of the point isn’t it? I just don’t understand why he didn’t finish him.

by Fedor numero uno on Apr 11, 2010 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Anderson is still #1

If he can stand out there in front of his “top” opponents and stick his chin out with his hands at his knees and the guy doesnt attack him? He did the same with Forrest and he attacked and look what happened to him. Mia Wanted him down and he couldnt do it and knew he couldnt out strike him. He did move to much once that i saw and Dan warned him.

by Sam Maggard on Apr 11, 2010 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

For anyone who doubts the validity of Chael Sonnen saying that Anderson understands english, just watch Silva’s reaction to the question to his manager regarding having to answer questions like this directed at his client. He looks irritated as hell without any translation.

BJ

BJ didn’t even look like BJ! What the heck was up with that? Edgar is not a better fighter! I don’t care what anyone says. It seemed like BJ wasn’t there tonight!

by Brotherwolf on Apr 11, 2010 4:12 PM EDT reply actions

Anderson vs. Wanderlei

If anderson is going to fight at 185 I think he should go against The Axe Murder, Anderson felt disrespected by mild remarks from Maia, well wanderlei is a way bigger shit-talker plus he’s not scared to brawl. I know some people might not think wanderlei deserves a shot at the belt but atleast if anderson starts dancing and taunting wanderlei will start throwing bombs and rushing at him cause he’s not scared to get hit it would be better than Machida. Idk what to think of Anderson anymore, at one point when Maia started throwing I was hoping he would knockout silva. Oh yeah and my boy Frankie E., that’s what real heart is I told EVERYONE he can and will win vs BJ and they all said no. So thanks Frankie not only did you inspire me, but you also won me $700!

by Underdog1 on Apr 11, 2010 5:40 PM EDT reply actions

Simple Solution......

Put someone in there who Silva cant dance around for 25 minutes with…. Seems like hes being disrespected by being matched against people who obviously have no business being in the ring against him….
Maybe if Dana White would stop being a dick and let him embarrass Roy Jones Jr. like he wants to….

by Smokey4009 on Apr 12, 2010 1:29 AM EDT reply actions

As nice as that sounds, it just cannot happen.

It would bring attention to boxing as well as MMA and the UFC does not want to promote boxing.

It would be like Burger King selling Big Macs for some one-time-only reason. And there would never be a good enough reason for these competitors to do that.
