The interviever is right...
Just like I have been saying Roy is very risky to put in with JDS. My money would be on Nelson (JDS would be favorite I assume) and its too dangerous for the UFC to let Roy smash their golden boy from Blackhouse.
I would love to see a match with Mir. They could hype up the whole grappling tournament and Roy would be an easy target for Mir’s hype(trash) talk. My money would be on Roy in that also.
Lesnar > [Carwin] ---> Lesnar > [Velasquez] ---> Lesnar > [JDS]
Overeem will NOT show up on May 15th! Mark my words. Sig stays til then.
wow freenow!
Nelson over JDS and Mir? I likey, I likey! I thought I’d be the first guy to say something so “stupid” like that and get torn up. Lol well I’m with ya, so bring on the shitstorm!
Mir sucks, FreeNow82 was right!

JDS is a bad match up... remember how well AA did.. same style more or less
Very technical Crisp boxing with power and reach is not good for stubby Roy.
Frank Mir on the other hand would be very interesting. I like the match up. What I would like more is running the loss into Mir’s face. He’s dead set on getting back to Brock but if a guy like Roy derailed him that would be absolutley devasting to the guy.
Joe Silva you have our permission. Hook it up.

Arlofski was seasoned BZ
We just saw what happens when a 22 year old steps in with Roy. JDS is a great boxer but Roy would have no respect for him and it could easily be lights out for Junior. Plus Roy can always go for the take down.
Regardless, we know Dana would never risk that, so BRING ON MIR!

Junior would run him over standing. He KO'd struve because Struve sucks horribly at striking.
No sense of distance, no kick, no TDs, no jab, This fight proves nothing about Nelson’s legitness because he’s done this to everyone he KOs – faint and overhand left or right. He has power which we know, he’s a legit black belt under renzo which we knew, no reason for him not to have run over struve.
Anyways match him against JDS or Mir, probly JDS which i don’t think he’ll do good against. He stands a much better chance against Mir though coz he’d have nothing to worry about. The mat isn’t a big danger zone and standing he’s got better hands than mir added to the fact that Mir calls it a wrap once he gets caught with one good shot flush.

he really does
i went back and watched tape of prev fights.. then watched Carwin trounce him
I guess he doesn’t want to ruin his broadcast career when the fight game is over.
who knows. But your right. He is a one hit – quit kind of fighter

i dunno nnr
We STILL haven’t seen JDS on the ground really. Nelson has a lot of capability to catch JDS with even a decent enough strike to be able to then haul him down, and from there your guess is (almost) as good mine.

JDS is HARD to take down
He is training TDD w/ the Nogs ALL the time.
Look how well Gabe did… it’s easier said than done.
I forget who said it but … JDS/Cain/Brock/Carwin are the fantastic 4 in HW.

I think Roy nelson could pretty easily deal with Cain.
Only way Cain wins is by decision, Roy can take it every way he wants to.
I think Carwin and Brock are the big 2 (also literally). Everyone else is on the outside looking in.
And I put Roy on the same level as JDS as Cain.

Against both roy would have to strike...
his takedowns are off the clinch and usually that outside trip TD. He doesn’t shoot from distance. Both of these guys have athleticism and technique to easily avoid that. Also in the clinch is also the biggest danger zone against Cain and JDS. Striking wise, he’s good but not as good as either of them. Both of their hands are far superior technically to his at this point. Add their speed and power and it doesn’t look too good for him. Probly a TKO late into the first.

Against JDS maybe.
Cain doesn’t have any power in his hands, him dropping Noguiera is not a big deal. He couldn’t do shit to Kongo and even Rothwell was still getting up after getting punched like 20 times.
I don’t know where people are getting the idea that Cain has power in his strikes, I still consider his hands precise pillows.
I pick Roy over Cain by TKO second round, against JDS different story, but my money would be on Nelson as an underdog.

you know how finicky mma fans can be…a fighter wins and theyre a world beater, they lose, theyre garbage…I agree…people think cain has power because he ko’d nog…4 years ago that would’ve been incredible..but nog has slowed considerably and just cant take the punishment he used to…he is still a legend, but just cant hang with these hungry young guns
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
the problem is
what would roy do about cain’s wrestling? i think cain would take him to the ground and smother him. i don’t see roy doing well against cain or jds, but i could be wrong. i’d like to see him against mir or someone else first.
I agree Big Z,i think he should be fighting Mir next or possibly Gonzaga
Mir would make for a great storyline but either would be great matches.
Gonzaga would definitely be a great next fight.
Step up for Roy if he wins. Back on track for Gonzaga if he wins. Either scenario the UFC wins.

They might think Roy could be more marketable
and potentially get a bigger following than JDS ever could, and as we know its all about the money with the UFC. Imagaine all the cash they could rake in from the fast food chains. I also think they would prefer not to have champions who they need a translators for. They could use Roy to take JDS out of title contention.

Actually Mir vs Roy...
isn’t a bad idea. Though Roy may have to fight one or two more cans before that fight.
no more cans.
he already beat 5 cans in a row (including in the house i mean).

On paper they don't.
But the fights did happen and he dominated 5 in a row.

he didn’t dominate Justin Wren. In fact he won a controversial decision.
If I'm driving I'll have to drink, because I'm very self-conscious about my driving--Peter Griffin
true he didnt dominate that one (although I still gave it to Roy easily)...
My point is 5 wins against cans in a row entitles him (especially with the TUF fanbase behind him) to fight someone legit: Kongo and Mir would make sense.

gotta love big country
representing us beer bellied folk WAR Roy

You guys
Are sick, to even think roy nelson would have a chance with JDS. JDS would knock him out in the first 2 or 3 minutes. Infact roy nelson was getting destroyed by kimbo slice in the stand up on TUF which is why the fight went to the ground. JDS striking is way better then bimbo slice. ANd i dont think nelson will dominate JDS on the ground either. NO ones seen JDS ground game but im willing to bet its way better then Bimbos
i wholeheartedly agree with that
kimbo was beating roy on the stand up and caught him a couple of times hence why it went to the ground as you say, JDS is unproven on the ground so itd be wrong to say roy would dominate him or not, lets wait and see ey!

Keyboard Warrior???
Oooohhhh, I’m going to write somethng nasty about him now.
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful
I picked Struve to choke him out from his back last night!!!
lol, guess I was wrong. I dont think anyone can under estimate Roy. I have never really seen him get beat up to badly besides AA so would love to see him in there against Cain or JDS. See how he does against one of these guys, IMO he wouldnt fair to well against either of these guys, but how often has Roy surprized you??
He surprises me everytime he moves.
Someone carrying so much extra weight amazes me with his perceived athleticism, Roy is taking the HW division by storm and I’m loving every minute of it.

Nelson vs Mir
They’ve got history and interestingly clashing styles. Make it happen.
After a minor genealogical search, I have determined that Cain Velasquez's great-grandfather was a truck.
And Mirko Cro Cop is a direct descendant of a wrecking ball. But I think you already knew that.
