How come we aren't seeing much about GSP lately?

I’ve seen plenty of Dan Hardy talking smack about everyone but GSP, but haven’t seen much here or anywhere else about the upcoming fight….

Bj Will Win

But more then likely I see a submission. I think Frankie is a tough kid and will get rocked and BJ will show us his world class BJJ once again.

by AintNoSunshine on Mar 5, 2010 3:23 PM EST reply actions

In 21 fights...

against much bigger strikers and heavier handed opponents, BJ has never been truly rocked. He has the TKO loss to Hughes, but that was gnp and the gnp from GSP. Edgar doesn’t have the hands to ko BJ. Edgar is the future but he is just not there yet!

Hence the word "miracle".

Ya I know how tough penn is. The closest he came to being rocked was with gsp. Gsp said while he was GNP’ing him his eyes rolled back in his head. EVERYONE has a lights out button, even penn or anderson silva, the extreme problem is finding it.

by nathang on Mar 6, 2010 2:00 PM EST up reply actions

yeh its a fight anyone can win. it would not be the first or last huge upset

But its just not going to happen in this fight :)

GSP said that?

I never read that. I wold love to have seen that. I am a huge BJ fan and I was wondering how he was taking that abuse not going out. I was for sure he was going to be out at somepoint and then the bell rang and he got up. A little slow, but got up. Then they stopped it in the corner. That was such a horribley one sided beating. +1.

But I don’t want a one-sided five round beating like he gave Diego either.

+2 End this one quickly BJ. Don't play with your food.

Edgars stand up is much better than Diegos...

his cardio is also just as good, he’s never been knocked out either so his chin may also be as good, so it may not end up being as one sided as the Diego fight. If BJ has taken him lightly then it may end up being more interesting than people think. If Edgar wins at all, it will be a points win just because of the speed and quickness that he has shown in his last few fights. I think it will be a good match.

bj’s not a one punch killa…but damn if he doesn’t just batter guys into next year.

Gatti. Dekkers. Pele. Aoki. Kang. Vanderlei. Basillio. Harry Greb.

Frankie couldn't have beaten BJ back when he wasn't training.

I really hope the UAE commission steps in and cancels this fight due to uncompetitive combatants.

BJ recruits sparing partners usually 3 weeks out right?

Didn’t he recruit some sparring partners in his last camp and the camp before that? I don’t find any problems with training conditioning with your boys and bringing in talent to train with for sparing. Is it yes men or family?

by Pack Leader on Mar 5, 2010 10:13 PM EST reply actions

See this going like the Sherk fight

Hard to see Frankie even trying to take Bj down. Especially since Diego & Kenny couldn’t. I see Frankie trying to stay away from Bj and trying to come in with a late flurry at the end of the round with the intention of stealing it.

by kden808 on Mar 6, 2010 1:40 PM EST reply actions

I don't think Frankie will touch BJ...

It never gets mentioned, but BJ has a lot of reach on guys like Edgar and Sherk. I don’t see Frankie stepping into the range without getting lit up by jabs and/or tied up and taken down. I see this fight being even less competitive than the Diego fight. I just hope they don’t feed him Maynard afterwards. Its time for BJ to move up a weight class the right way and fight at 170 again. I doubt he’ll ever hold that belt again, but I’d rather see him retire as the greatest 155er of all time than watch him sit back and polish his legacy by taking easy fights the rest of his career a la GSP.
