The decisive point for Gabe is his cardio. We saw Dos Santos versus Cro Cop and he didn’t get tired. I can’t say the say for Gonzaga.

gabe looks like gives up after a while

the couture fight it happend, the werdum fight it happend

we will see about JDS. I think he makes Gabe quit and TKO’s him

I want Ricardo Arona to sign with the UFC and his first fight should be James Toney. This is a win win scenario for MMA

This is pre-fight posturing and mind games. GG will try to take it to the floor.

I like Gonzo but he gives up too easy when he’s not in the driver seat.
He messed up against Carwin a fight he could and probably should have won.

Gonzaga had that Carwin fight all wrapped up. I can’t believe he let Carwin throw that hail mary overhand to knock him out instead. Strange fight, that…

Dos Santos has a good chin and hits harder than anyone in the HW division I reckon. His hand speed is awesome as well as is his boxing technique.

Barring any bizarre circumstances (that headkick vs CroCop for example), theres no way Dos Santos loses this.

He said he's not scared to keep it standing

But that doesn’t mean that is his game plan. I’m sure Junior is no slouch on the ground. He trains with Nog and is a brown belt. But I hear Gonzaga’s jits it on another level. We shall see.

Do not. I repeat, do not, go to mma-core.com. I made the mistake of watching a couple UFC 108 bouts on there and I am still trying to get all the viruses of my computer. Ridiculous! You've been warned.

Even if his jitz is on another level, i’m sure Junior has enough ground game to avoid getting subbed.

Also, its going to be real hard for Gabriel to get the fight to the ground in the first place.

I agree RoB....it's just a mental thing for Gabe in the big fights

He absolutely CRUSHES lesser opponents but really has trouble in the big fights (not including CroCop). Granted in the Randy fight, he got manhandled and getting his nose broken on the take down probably took a lot of the fight out of him. Yes, he was doing well against Carwin but got a little sloppy and got caught with kind of a short punch right on the button. Can never explain why he did so bad against Werdum who stopped him standing when he’s known as a BJJ guy. Dos Santos had really good hands. I’d love to see Gabe use more kicks.

And thank you Gabe for learning our language and speaking it well.

Mistakeeeeeeeee!!!! Try take JDS down, stand and you’ll have to pick your head up from row Z after the fight

by irishlilpete on Mar 5, 2010 8:03 AM EST via mobile reply actions

He should be afraid

I just rewatched JDS vs Yvel and JDS hits incredibly fast, that counter left hook he dropped Yvel with was probably the fastest HW punch Ive ever seen.

Even in the slowmotion replay it looked fast.

Until I see a faster punch, everyone in the HW dv will lose against JDS if they trade punches.

Oh and he’s got an ironchin aswell.

nice vm

and that standup improvement was after 1 camp.imagine cain in another 2-3 fights.on this fight if gg cant get jds out of there early expect him to mentally implode!

It's good to not be afraid...

But I’m not sure if it’s the wisest move to get in a stand up war either. JDS has killer hands and Gabe has been KO’d or TKO’s a few times in the past couple of years. I find once that button gets pressed a few times, it becomes easier and easier to get knocked out moving forward.
Gabe has the kicks and BJJ advantage But JDS is no slouch with KO punches and a Brown Belt while training with Nogueira and Maia.
This should be a REALLY good fight. Until JDS shows some weaknesses (and because he’s on a tear with wins) I’m going with him in this one.

He's not afraid to stand with Dos santos, eh?

Well, he’s probably getting KO’ed then. Round 1, I’d say.

JDS is the man

Didn’t really think too much of him until he came into the UFC and has bltzed credible opponents. Although we have not seen his ground game, training with Nog, I doubt its too shabby. Gonzaga is unpredictable. He has great potential but hasn’t really stepped up in the big fights

by Apocacryptic on Mar 5, 2010 10:42 AM EST reply actions

War Gonzaga! I haven’t gave up on this guy yet. As much as I would love to watch these two bang it out on the feet, I think Gabe should take him down and beat him up there first and then maybe finish it off on the feet.

This is a huge fight for him for sure

I just think JDS is going to be to much for GG

Can't w8 for this fight! Sum1's going home in a body bag!

Both these guys have the power 2 end the fight in 1 shot so it can go either way. I think Gabe shud fight him the same way he fought cro cop, take him down & elbow the shit out of him. I luv jds attitude & style! Every fight he’s Like bring it the f#ck on =D huge fan of both these guys.

will there be a leg kick to the temple of jds? that is the only way he wins this one. (gonzaga)

he has to do it in the first round too. jds is just too aggressive and makes fighters make mistakes.

i'm not quite sure what you are saying. gonzaga uses a leg kick to the arm of jds?

or he uses his knee’s in a thai clinch and tries to hit junior dos santos chin? really does not matter. jds will win imo?

sigh

What’s a “leg kick to temple?” A leg kick is usually when you kick someone in the leg(s). Correct? How can a leg kick hit someone on the temple? I mean, if I were to kick someone in the head using my left leg I wouldn’t say it was a left high leg kick, would I? I was assuming you meant a kick being executed by a leg, but that would also be redundant anyway, as a kick is movement performed by the leg. I was just mockingly questioning by the typing of ‘knee or arm kick’—what other limb could a kick possibly be performed by other than a leg? Ya know? Just poking fun. No harm. However, the humor seemed to have gotten lost in translation.

Leg kick to the temple?????

You mean a head kick?
