UFC 111 medical suspensions and injuries for 'St. Pierre vs Hardy'

The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (NJSACB) has provided MMAmania.com with its list of medical suspensions for the fighters competing at UFC 111: "St. Pierre vs. Hardy," which took place on Saturday, March 27, 2010, from the Prudential Center in Newark.
With several of the bouts ending early (and violently), there were a handful of fighters who were flagged follow up visits with their doctors. And one fighter will be riding the bench for not releasing a submission on time.
Rousimar Palhares slapped on a heel hook early in the first round to submit Tomasz Drwal, though he failed to break the hold when the "Gorilla" tapped -- or when referee Kevin Mulhall instructed him to upon calling the fight.
The NJSACB wasn't impressed with his post-fight apology and hit him with a 90-day supension.
Joining him on the sidelines is Matt Riddle, who was awarded a disqualification victory over Greg Soto after getting plunked in the face with an illegal upkick. The former TUF contestant will be out indefinitely pending the results of a CAT Scan.
But that's not all.
Here is the complete list of UFC 111 injuries and their medical instructions:
Frank Mir: Suspended 30 days for precautionary reasons
Mark Bocek: Suspended 30 days for scalp laceration
Rory Markham: Suspended 30 days for facial laceration
Rousimar Palhares: Suspended 90 days for failing to release submission
Tomasz Drwal: Suspended indefinitely pending X-ray of left knee and ankle
Jared Hamman: Suspended indefinitely pending X-rays of right foot (minimum 60 days due to foot lacerations)
Matthew Riddle: Suspended indefinitely pending CAT Scan (minimum 30 days)
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

Would love to see some1 break that stumpy wee bastard palhares' leg!
that was worse than the punches to mir while unconscious – mir will be fine but a broken leg can end ur career!

There was nothing wrong with the punches to Unconscious Mir, at least not from Carwin’s standpoint. He punched until the ref stepped in and didn’t hit him afterward.
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful
oh yea nothing against carwin in the least - all DANS fault
… i just mean palhares leg lock was way more dangerous than those blows to mir!

Yeah
I was really unimpressed with that, he acted like he didn’t know, but how many mma competitions has he been in where tapping means the fights over? I think a big fines appropriate; the funny thing is though, that this guy is way to muscular to beat most people in his division.

One suspension missing:
Dan Miragliotta: Suspended indefinitely for demonstrably having no brain.

Glad Palhares got suspended
I think he should lose some of his pay too. That was BS.
WELL....
Guys, Palhares had his back to him and figured he was pushing off not tapping? Right?
I watched it and it seemed a hair long but nothing like what Sokoju does.
I actually like Palhares so I am gonna probably be painted as biased. I did hear a blurb on his excuse and I buy it.
I think referees should be able to do the yellow card thing though that gives them a bit of extra RESPECT…

If anyone cares,
the post-fight x-rays results appear to show no serious damage, but he’s having an MRI done tomorrow. (according to a couple of Polish MMA sites)
I hope karma catches up to Palhares – he might have had the right to crank as hard as he wanted to until the ref stopped him, but doing so still makes him a douchebag – and he’s got no excuse for continuing once the ref got there.
MRI will show all the damage to ligaments, tendons, etc. Fray won’t.

Yeah, I realize that.
Just saying, that’s what they know so far.
Wow...
This medical report NEVER comes out this fast.
