Agreed, props to Dana for doing this
I think everyone wanted to see the Guida and Schaub fights, so I am looking forward to this show. With all the upcoming PPVs, I’ll take all the free fights I can get!

Interesting....
….I understand that the UFC owns the rights to all their fights and can show them at will, but I wonder how it makes the people at Versus feel to have part of their show airing on Spike? Anyone with a little more business sense then me want to weigh in?
My guess is it is in the contract that Zuffa owns all the rights to the video, not Versus.
If so, Zuffa can show the fights wherever they want. I am also guessing that the contract with Spike for ‘UFC Unleashed’ has a "new fights’ clause that says thay cannot just reproduce all old footage, but add undercards or main card fights at their discretion.

I dont know how it works
But Versus didn’t even show the fights so they have no rights to the footage.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe that part of the contracts with networks and what not is that Zuffa handles all aspects of the production. They bring the camera crews, the audio crews, editors, all that. because of this, all of their shows keep the same format, the same effects, animations, and captions on screen. Also, when you watch their network shows the credits read: “Executive Producer – Lorenzo Fertitta, Frank Fertitta, UFC President Dana White.” They own and retain all rights to the footage because they shot it.
Usually in a situation like this, Versus would pay the UFC to show their fights, and therefore get sponsorship through commercials, and a large viewer base (1.24 million I believe). They don’t have rights for any of the fights, or any of the footage, only exclusivity on the original broadcast, and perhaps subsequent replays.
