Poll: Who's Next for Bones?

127_medium

via mmaggregate.files.wordpress.com

There it is!  Another notch on the Bones belt.  Jones dispatches Vera in the first via a viscious elbow that most likely broke his orbital.  This is was supposed to be Jones' toughest test, and he made quick work of him.  At 22 yrs old, and near the top of the division, this kid's got a long bright future in this sport.

So, who's next for Jones?

Star-divide

As for Vera, I think the UFC will match him agsinst Matt Hamill.  Feel free to leave your match-up predictions.

yeah

bones would kill tito

Tito could beat 2 Jones' at once if he wanted to

Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.

So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.

wow... really?

at this point in their respective careers? i just cant envision tito being able to do any sort of damage, bones is just so explosive. i think tito would be in for a bad night, a real bad night. tito would win the war of words but i think that’s about it.

by panthro on Mar 22, 2010 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions

tito would win...

a war of words??? Tito can barely form a complete sentence and Jones speaks like a young sage.

Darn right I hate Tito, but that's not why...well not entirely

I would love to watch Tito get stylistically euthanized by Bones. But that aside, it’s a big name that would hype up Bones to the casual fan and give us a look at how effective his crazy takedowns are against a bigger guy with seasoned grappling and a solid chin. I think it would be a big-money fight and great publicity and experience for Bones. Dispite Tito’s total verbal idiocy and constant bitching and moaning, inside the cage, Tito is mentally and physically tough as nails. I think Bones would have a tough time finishing him. (Machida and Rashad couldn’t) and that 3 rounds would give Johnny some much needed real-time experience against a seasoned vet before he steps up to take on the TOP-5.

I think Thiago Silva will fight Bader

They both ko’d Jardine.

Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"

by Two_Words on Mar 22, 2010 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Thiago would get thrown around like a rag doll and get the snot beat out of him lying on his back

Rashad threw Thiago around in their fight, Jones would do even worse, plus I think Jones has better stand up than Rashad. bad match up for Thiago… Bader would be a more competitive fight, Bader’s stand up isn’t pretty, but if he connects, he can put most guys on the floor. Plus his wrestling would make it more evenly matched with takedowns, and we may even get to see Bones fighting off of his back.

Never before, have I so clearly heard the sound of a face breaking...

by Spinning Fat Kick on Mar 22, 2010 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions

bader would get boned too..

i think that fight would look a lot like the hamill fight

winner of Nogueira vs Nogueira, only chance Forrest has is if Nog beats himself.

+2

Also agree with Two Words that Thiago should fight Bader. Jones v Nog for the # 1 contender

by domino effect on Mar 22, 2010 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions

beating vera, hammil, and bonnar doesnt give you the shot at a noguiera

he will get bader, silva, keith jardine, or the winner between page/shad before he gets that big of a fight nog would sub him in 30 seconds take nothing away from him but lil nog will be top2 if not 1 by the end of the year

Randy Murders

It is not simply that he beat Hammil, Bonnar and Vera, it is how he beat them. Nobody has simply ran through those guys the way Jones has, which indicates Jones is ready for a top 5 fighter. Nog does not have the star power that Shad or Page has, and only Page is an option. If Page wins he will probably get a title shot since it will be 3 straight wins. I am thinking of who will have # 1 contender status, which will probably be Nog if he beats Forrest.

by domino effect on Mar 22, 2010 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Jones would be the one to take him down.

what’s your issue btw jay?

by RoBerto. on Mar 22, 2010 1:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I hope not.

that would be a terrible move by the UFC, what does Jones have to gain from beating T.Silva?
Thiago is a popular LHW who has had 2 losses in 3 fights and even though he looked good against Evans he should get some time to rebuild. It’s time to give Jones someone closer to the title.

The only people i don’t see he beating is Machida, page, shogun

by MikeAllen on Mar 22, 2010 2:42 AM EDT reply actions

page is going to lose to evans and it will be easy.

what did we learn tonight. guys like irvin who have had long layoffs get beat. plus rampage weighs in around 245 250.he is unmotivated even though he says he is. even dana white knows this. why do you think they gave him the car. it’s a going away present.

I think Jones would just take Thiago down and pound him out. Sky is the limit. Wanted Vera to win that fight but Jones gets all the respect in the world, he’s dangerous.

by RyanHobbs on Mar 22, 2010 2:46 AM EDT reply actions

it won't be ryan bader either. the ufc is bringing him along at just the right pace.

Not really imo. Bader is undefeated, a great wrestler, 3-0 in the UFC I think.

Lil Nog vs Jones would be a good watch.....

Lil Nog for the W.

by Eduardo Cruz on Mar 22, 2010 9:18 AM EDT reply actions

I think it's gonna be Griffin or Nogeuira

either winner or loser. It’ll be a step up for sure.

Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"

by Two_Words on Mar 22, 2010 9:20 AM EDT reply actions

problem is....

If Forrest loses, as I expect, then either Lil’ Nog has to take a step backwards to fight Jones, or Dana takes a huge risk of Forrest getting humiliated again, and losing 4 of 5, which would put him in jeopardy. I think if Forrest loses to Lil Nog, Dana will give him an easier fight to get him back in the win column cause he doesn’t want to cut him loose.

by (shonuff) on Mar 24, 2010 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

It's great watching the rise of Bones.

I would like to see him fight all the dudes on this list. I went with the loser of Griffin/Nog.

I picked the winner of Griffin/Nog

but after some thought, I would have to agree with you, loser of Griffin/Nog.

As impressive as Jones has been, I can’t see him deserving the winner of Griffin/Nog just yet.

Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"

Maybe it's Thiago Silve vs. Bader

Was Vera a name to put Jones on high consideration? I don’t doubt he is good but the hype after yesterday was so much in my opinion.

Yes Vera Was.

IF you paid attention to Jones you would have known he would walk right through Vera. Before the fight started there was never a single doubt in my mind. Bring on the next challenger.

This kid Jones is;

This kid is young, talented, powerful and athletic. He ragdolls everyone he fights. I think Bader would be an interesting match up.
