Has anyone noticed that the UFC Co-main events have been consistently great lately?
On average I have been way more excited about Co Main events than main events. Thoughts?
definitely
I do not think that is even debatable.
I don't get how Vera/Jones can be ahead of this
Vera/Jones has ZERO relevance to the LHW title picture right now…and they’re not exactly legendary names. JDS is much closer to a title shot than either of those guys and a lot more people know Gonzo (from that legendary CroCop kick and his title shot) than know Vera or Bones. Winner of Vera/Jones still won’t even be TOP 5. It should be an interesting fight, but no way it should headline ahead of JDS/Gonzo.

Cigano vs Gonzaga should be the main event. The sensation versus the former number 1 contender. OK, Jones is a guy whom we expect so much but Vera hasn’t appeal in the light heavyweight division where the tougher ones are in.
"Once Flamengo, Flamengo until die"
easily PPV worthy
I also think this card is plenty good enough to qualify as a numbered PPV. I mean if Bisping/Leben can make it…
Agreed. I’m a lot more excited about Mir-Carwin than GSP-Hardy tbh.
Thats usually been the trend though in recent times.

definitely
Mir/Carwin is a real HEAVYweight fight.
YES to HW’s. YES to JDS.
familiar faces in unfamiliar places.
agreed
I have heard alot of people say that this should be the main event.. I myself am not sure about this. It is close but I think vera and jones is a pretty damm good main event. Especially in marketing the young and upcoming jones. I love this kid.
Your right, Jones is great.
Look back at recent events though. For example Koscheck-Johnson was co main and that had me way more excited than Forrest-Tito. Hardy-Swick was also more exciting than Vera-Couture. Marquardt-Sonnen was better than Couture-Coleman, and Daley-Hazellett was pretty close to Evans-Silva ( and produced a better finish. I guess my point is that recent UFC Main events have been questionable, but you can always count on the Co main event being solid.

JDS has gotta be one of the most exciting fighters in mma
He comes to destroy his opponent every fight and is relentless in doing it.
Potential Upset Here . . .
I can really see Gab pulling this off. Before he lost to Randy I thought he was going to be one of the most dominant heavyweights in a long while. I really hope he steps up and takes it to Dos Santos.
I'm really unsure about Gabe.
He is really inconsistent, when he first joined the UFC he went on a bit of a tear, but ever since the Randy fight, he’s been really hot and cold. win some, lose some etc. Plus even though his last fight was a win, you can’t really gather anything from it because before he beat the guy, he smashed his nuts into oblivion, in what seemed to be the most brutal, blatant (I don’t want to say intentional but…) groin shot I can remember. I just don’t have enough faith in Gabe right now to bet against somebody like JDS, (Brazilian HW kickboxing champ, trains with the Nogs+blackhouse coming in on a 5 fight win streak, all of which were stoppages and 4 of which were against really tough guys) My money is on JDS here!!!!

Better camp
The one thing that sticks out in this fight for me is better training camps. GG and JDS are well rounded fighters the only thing setting the two of them apart are the training camps. JDS trains with the best in the world on a daily base were GG dosen’t. I give the stand up edge to JDS and I will give GG the ground for the only reason being we have yet to see how JDS is on the ground. I know he want be no slouch on the ground as he trains with the nog brothers but until I see it I can’t give him the avantage there. All in all it going to be a hell of a fight that am looking forward to watching.

You know what would be the most funniest thing ever?
If JDS has a glass chin and Gonzaga barely slaps it once and the fight ends that would be classic, anyways JDS via Frank Mirs new favorite thing to do MURDER!
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
Have you seen jds fight
His chin has been tested, he just walks through punches like there nothing
Damage? What thrilled me the most was JDR capacity of absorb attacks.

I don't see this fight getting out of the 1st round!
I’m a big fan of both these guys! Gabe lost a couple fights but is always exciting & always dangerous. He was beating the shit out of carwin & werdum before they both caughtem. Dos Santos has looked awesome in all his fights! The winner shud fight Cain for the next title shot.

The winner (JDS) should fight cain for the title shot in a perfect world
There is plenty of time since brock isnt defending his belt for a while againt the mir/carwin winner.
I expect this fight to look similar
to Gabes fight with Carwin. Gabe is gonna give JDS more trouble than expected, then do something stupid and leave himself open for an uppercut and go to sleep.
I wonder if gonzaga is ever guna bust out his ground game
Ya he likes 2 stand but if he can get jds 2 the ground I think he has the advantage there. Do wut he did 2 cro cop take him down & rain Down sum elbows it cud be a different story. Even tho he has crazy power I think jds will ko him on the feet.

I hope it's a good fight
JDS has pretty much had an easy time of it. I hope Gabe can give him some comp. Gabe has looked like a world beater at times and then loses to Werdum (twice)…shaking my head as I just can’t understand that), Randy fight gets his nose broken and takes a great shot from Carwin. Hope he protects his chin a little better. He’s due for a big win against better comp.
I like both these guys as fighters, just hope it is a war.
For big man they are explosive and both obviously possess Knock out power. I think JDS could go all the way to the title, he is a beast, and after the way he just shrugged off Yvel, it is about time I started giving him the respect he deserves. Both these guys have the potential to fight anyone in the H/W division, the only difference imo is that JDS will probably one day wear the belt, just can’t see GG in that position. I also think JDS would beat Cain convincingly in the stand-up and would prob KO his ass, one thing is for sure if JDS connects then it is good-night Irene and if it ends up on the mat, training with the Nogs will have him well prepared for GG, even if GG is a former Mundial winner. I will be picking JDS in Mc’s pick ’em pool but it is by no means a lock.

After JDS wins..
They HAVE to set up JDS vs Cain, it not only makes sense for who gets the next titleshot after Mir/Carwin but it could potentially be a grudge match seeing how Cain destroyed JDS’ mentor/fatherfigure etc etc

I think UFC will do it to write the student revenge the master play.

They would be foolish not to. The UFC hype train will definitely be in full effect.
