I would have been happy having a couple more fights before getting my shot, but I was offered a spot as a late replacement against Mike Swick in a final eliminator in November, accepted, and beat him up. It's funny Swick is now moaning that I didn't deserve this shot. Swick should have kept his mind off me and on his last opponent, Paulo Thiago, and maybe he wouldn't have been beaten again…. I've won four UFC bouts to get here, not-so-great Nate had three, none of which were against world-beaters. I am very amused Josh Koscheck is still bitching his lungs out that he deserves a title shot, not me. British fans will know Koscheck as the Fraggle-haired guy who got sparked out in one round in London a year ago, only to take his loss out on an innocent chair backstage, scoring a split decision points win over the unsuspecting piece of furniture. If you've forgotten that fight (and if you blinked, you'd have missed it) you'll see something very similar in May when Paul Daley knocks him out. Koscheck says I have beaten nobodies but my latest win was over his supposed friend and teammate in Swick. How loyal. That's why Jon Fitch isn't improving, why Koscheck has so many one-sided losses on his record and why Swick will never fight for a title. They aren't really a team, they don't have each others' best interests at heart and clearly there's a lack of respect in that gym."

As I said, there is a lack of credible opponents. The only ones I find remotely interesting for him would be Paulo and Daley, but both would need to win at least 2-3 more before I would want to see them fight GSP.

I find it hard to believe that GSP will ever go to 185. I think he is more than happy sitting at 170 building his “legacy”. Going to 185 would be a big risk, and GSP doesn’t seem to take risks anymore.

I would have been happy having a couple more fights before getting my shot, but I was offered a spot as a late replacement against Mike Swick in a final eliminator in November, accepted, and beat him up.
He did know he wasn’t getting the shot because he mowed through every other contender. Dana called it a No. 1 contender fight, assuming Swick would win,but Hardy won and got the shot. Dana didn’t HAVE to give him the shot just because he won a No. 1 contender match (see: Henderson, Dan) but he did.
As for Daley and P. Thiago, it’s going to be hard for anyone at WW to win 4-5 fights in a row because the next 8 or so fighters behind GSP are all pretty close. Title shots should go to anyone they can justify giving a shot to, whether it’s truly earned or not. If Daley beats Kos, that would make him 3-0 in UFC. If Thiago wins his next fight he would be 4-1 in UFC with wins over 2 of the 3 AKA Butt Buddies. Either one would be justified in getting a shot with those marks.

The WW division is stacked with solid fighters. At any time a few of these guys can go on a run and string together 3-4 wins and should be offered the title shot. Otherwise we’re going to have GSP vs (insert name here) for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time. No one wants that. At least I don’t.
And for as much as I like GSP….I really do like Hardy. He cracks me up. He just says it like it is and you gotta respect that.

Fitch needs to improve upon his game. He should have better standup by now.

WW division in the UFC needs new blood. I’m tired of seeing the same old guys every time. I don’t even think most of the “top” ufc welterweights are that good. There are a lot of promising welterweight prospects outside the ufc such as Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren or Jake Shields that I’d like to see against GSP. I’d be really interested to see Askren vs GSP. That would probably be the only welterweight in the world with a wrestling advantage over GSP.

Hardy n Semtex are the future of the WW division. THey will be top 10 WW for years to come. Most people judge them on their past performances but these guys are always improving…Hardy works real hard. He trains with best boxing coach in the world in Freddie Roach, and his jits with Eddie Bravo..Sparring with Semtex is also invaluable for him….
Both have very entertaining personalities, and are equiped to stand with anyone in the world!

Dan and Paul are both superb fighters and are 2 of the most entertaining guys in the UFC. The other lads from Rough House are great prospects as well, in particular I’m looking forward to seeing Wallhead in Bellator. Exciting times for British MMA.

he already did all that 5-6 years ago when you were still watching WWE. Let’s be honest,he is 33 years old, has had more pro MMA fights than birthdays, as well as a life time of competing (and winning gold medals) in Judo and Sambo. Is Fedor the best HW in the world right now? I don’t know, probably not though. Is he the greatest HW ever? I would say so. No HW in the world of MMA has a career that even compares.
What all you UFC fanboys need to realise is that between 02 and 05 when Fedor really made his name. Pride was the better place to be for competition, obv there are exceptions to that, but for the most part it’s true. Never fighting in the UFC doesn’t mean shit because he made his name whilst the UFC was still growing into what it is now. He has nothing to prove to the likes of you.
GSP however is 5 years younger, hasn’t been fighting for as long and is still very much in his prime and I believe it sucks that he is only 28 and is already too concerned with his legacy to take risks.

First off...
Av never watched the WWE in my life…a not american and couldnt give a shit about wrestling..but a suppose because am not a fedor “fanboy” a must love Brock and must have got into MMA because of him being in WWE!
And the best fighters Fedors every fought are cro cop and Nog who have had they asses stomped in the UFC…and dont say he beat them when they were in their prime bullshit because they joined the UFC soon after their "prime’ so they couldnt have declined that fast…the bottom line is they are fighting the best fighters they ever have but Fedor wont do that coz he doesnt want to take a risk to keep his perfect record. Fedor is only 34 and hasnt fought any1 fot the last 5-6 years so for you to say it sucks GSP is only 28 and wont take risks is contradictory becuse Fedor was around that age. At the time he fought CC Mirko was on a 7 fight win streak and the form of his life.
At the time he fought Coleman, Mark had just come off of a TKO victory over Shogun Rua
At the time he fought Hunt, Mark had won 5 of his last 6 including wins over Wandy and CC
At the time he fought Tim, Tim had only just lost the UFC belt less than a year ago and his last fight before Fedor was a UFC title shot
AA is still ranked in most peoples top 10 and at the time he fought Fedor was on a 5 fight win streak.
Brett Rogers is an extremely dangerous fighter, currently ranked 5th by sherdog, and at the time he fought Fedor was undefeated, having won all of his fights by (T)KO. If fighting a really dangerous guy with a 30lb weight advantage but no real name isn’t a risk then I don’t know what is.
My origional point was that GSP doesn’t take risks, which he doesn’t, Since the Serra loss he has played it safe. Are you disputing that? Or are you just bitching because Dana told you not to like Fedor?

As long as he keeps backing it up, I will continue to love his shit talking. That said, he isn’t the guy that will beat GSP. Nothing against Hardy, he’s done great and his handling of Swick really speaks for his talent, but even with his 4 wins he has only finished Markham. He struggled against Gono and Davis… does anyone really think this guy is going to be able to grind out 5 rounds with GSP. No Way! He has a punchers chance, just like anyone and anything could happen…. but this guy isn’t a showing he is a finisher and GSP I don’t think GSP will EVER lose a 5 round fight in his career.

I don’t mind his talk. He’s really confident in his abilities, but he’s also very honest about them. He says he knows he’s gonna be taken down by GSP, no way around it. Hardy’s training his but—skoot and cagewalk, not his take-down defence so much.

When it got to LW, it’s hard to tell what Hansen or Aoki would look like against say Gray Maynard. I think that surgery helped Diaz and Wand. Hopefully it continues to work for them.

I think Hardy is great, but unfortunately GSP will NEVER take a lesser opponent lightly again thanks to Serra. Whilst he did a great job of winding up Marcus Davis and also blew his Irish myth to shreds, he doesn’t really shit talk imo. He’s just a very intelligent guy who knows how to build a fight and really expose some of the comments and fighters that make them. I can’t actually recall a time he’s actually initiated any shit talking….Fraggle comment included!
Sonnen is a different kettle of fish because he manipulates his words for exposure but none the less he’s clever with it too. We’re all talking about the guy now and tbh he’s nothing but a boring wrestler in reality.

it might be true about the 15 minutes, but this kid isn’t going anywhere. He’s well above average, and anyone that is in the Top 10 in the UFC WW division and ISN’T fighting out of AKA will be around for awhile. The UFC needs solid fighters to match up against the 3 amigos from AKA since they won’t have them fight each other. I’m with most other people on this site in that i actually like Hardy. I enjoy him as a fighter, and his shit-talking is pretty refreshing, but he is simply the next lamb headed to the slaughter. GSP is that good…….he knows it, everyone else knows it, and hopefully he can give a respectable effort before getting knocked or tapping out.

I think Matt Serra erased any chance of Hardy winning with a “puncher’s chance.” GSP is too smart of a fighter, and has way too many tools to avoid Hardy’s power. Anyone can get knocked out by the right punch, unfortunately for Hardy, GSP has already learned his lesson, and used his mulligan.

If fighters prepare for the takedowns and work on better punching angles, I have to believe that someone else will exploit his chin. I can’t believe only Matt Serra knows this.
What would be scary is if GSP learns some real professional boxing skills, then he would be unbeatable but as it is someone out there has stuff those takedowns much like GSP did to Hughes back in the day and make him pay on the feet. So hard when I saw this yesterday. Hardy is by far the funniest mma fighter; the Koscheck split decision win over an innocent chair thing hahaha!! And how isn’t he deserving of the title? This division is so close other than GSP, and Hardy fought in a title shot fight because he was a replacement, what do you expect him to do? Plus, he’s by far the most marketable fighter, as some have pointed out.

From a British standpoint, I’d have to say I feel considerably more comfortable with Hardy and Daley representing us than Bisping. GSP is extremely disciplined. He will mix-up the stand-up and take-downs for sure, that’s his specialty. I don’t find his strategy boring at all. Anyone who says he lays ’n prays is an idiot.

Most of his fights he tries to beat his opponent at their strength. Just so that there is no doubt who the better fighter is.
If he takes Hardy down and grinds him out, people will say “GSP would have lost if it stayed on the feet”. He likes to avoid that scenerio, I could totally see this fight being on the feet for 80% of it.

For sure, I can feel it in my bones.
GSP is predictable, just like all the haters are saying on here. But he is predictably awesome. He beat Fitch, Hughes, Kos on the ground. He showed he could outclass Alves and Penn on the feet and on the ground. He took Serra to the ground where he is best at. He always beats guys at their best strength, that way a rematch is stupid.

I don’t think he’s going to win, and I don’t think he’s necessarily even top 5.
But you have to admire a guy who makes hay while the sun shines. Hardy knows win or lose, this shot is his window to make himself a star. And he can lose badly to GSP and still make himself a player by being outspoken and charismatic.
