Roger Huerta vs Chad Hinton highlights Bellator lightweight tournament season two match ups

Roger_huerta_medium

CHICAGO, Ill. (March 19, 2010) – With its first Season 2 event now less than three weeks away, Bellator Fighting Championships today revealed the Round 1 matchups for its much-anticipated, nationally-televised lightweight (155 lbs.) tournament.

The four fights will take place during Bellator’s first three Season 2 events on April 8th, April 15th and April 22nd.

Fighter pairings for Bellator’s featherweight (145 lbs.) and welterweight (170 lbs.) tournaments have already been announced. Matchups for the middleweight (185 lbs.) tournament will be announced later this month.

The lightweight (155 lbs.) matchups are as follows:

Star-divide

  • April 8th (Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Hollywood, Fla.) Roger Huerta (20-3-1) vs. Chad Hinton (6-0) and Janne Tulirinta (12-3) vs. Carey Vanier (7-2)
  • April 15th (Chicago Theatre – Chicago, Ill.) Pat Curran (9-3) vs. Mike Ricci (5-0)
  • April 22nd (Mohegan Sun Resort – Uncasville, Conn.) Toby Imada (20-13) vs. Ferrid Kheder (16-5)

Each of the fights will be broadcast live in prime time on FOX Sports Net. Highlights will be shown the following Saturday night in special action-packed shows on NBC and Telemundo.

"As an MMA fan, I can’t wait to see these fights," said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. "There’s been great buzz about our 155 division and it’s definitely warranted. This is a very well-rounded field and each of these fighters is very dangerous."

I cant wait to See what sort of Shape Huerta's in.

And if he has been training MMA this whole time. Hop ering rust doesnt catch him as he is the favoirte to win the season.

Carey trains at the gym that i do.

Don’t know him personally but i’ve seen him roll and hitting pads. I know he wrestled at the same college as Huerta. He looks like he’s got some game but you never know these things. But keep an eye out for him.

I hope he eventually comes back.

I love the intensity in him, how he gets so angry when his opponent connects a shot.

I'm suprised they didn't bring Jorge Masvidal back

I’d say the finale pits Curran vs Huerta. Huerta/Alvarez would be crazy.

My breakout fighter for this coming year: Terry Etim

Chad Hinton

H Bomb owns a gym in Cincinnati…. Don’t sleep on this guy he has heavy hands. I think Huerta is faster and will win a unamious dec based on Huerta’s chin…just saying it will be a lot tougher than everyone is thinking.

no diss mmaforever.

but Huerta won’t win because of his chin. If you get hit clean right on the button by someone who knows how to punch you’re going down no matter who you are.

there's still something so unifying about sport in it's purest form, when athletes rise above themselves and touch greatness and in doing so remind us all that we also have greatness inside of us.

I'm ofc saying that he's going to win b/c he's a better fighter.

its a gimmie, not cos carey is n.g., but cos huerta is better....

huerta is a very dynamic fighter and has only lost to the best, but as ans said, will be interesting to see what shape he turns up in, if he feels he can walk through the competition without being 100% he is going to get his backside handed to him.
hungry guy v not 100% superstar = disaster…

Every night i would pray to God for a new bike, then i realized God does not work that way, so i stole one and asked him to forgive me

I didn't know that

If more fighters took time out and polished some aspects of there game i think they would improve a lot more
