Fast-rising lightweight prospect Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm is rumored to face Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro while Roger Gracie is expected to make his promotion debut opposite Kevin "The Monster" Randleman.
It’s going to be a great night of fights. If you live in the St. Louis area be sure to snag your tickets as quickly as possible.

events in back-to-back months?! Unheard of
Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.
So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.
So is the loser
Of his last fight getting first crack at the champion. That’s just how crazy SF is. They’re changing how shit is done now to avoid going the same path as Affliction and EliteXC I suppose
My dream match-up to see
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz!!!!! Would only be unreal
Just stop it.
Did you feel the same way when R. Couture fought T. Silva for the belt after getting KTFO by Chuck Liddell?
Not really no
That was Randy Couture. Already a named and worthy opponent who moved up in weight in take on Sylvia. Rogers is in the same division still as Fedor
My dream match-up to see
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz!!!!! Would only be unreal
Good point.
But looking at Randy’s record, I’m not sure if he’s worthy of being called a “legend”. Compare Randy to Matt Hughes. Somehow Randy is still relevent and Hughes is seen as washed up.
I see your point
imo Randy was fighting at a weight above his natural weight. He was too small but got the job done still against the (at the time) relevant fighters in Tim and GG. Even his losses against Brock and Nog, he didn’t look old or ‘washed up’. Okay, his fight against Vera wasn’t spectactular but still
However, Hughes last win against Serra is similiar the Vera/Couture fight. But Hughes’s standup is terrible for someone considering another run for the title. He’s not evolving and he openly avoids fights with any of the top fighters such as them AKA boys.
All said, I don’t see either being a legit contender against the current respective champions but Randy can (and is trying to) hold his own against some of the big names while Hughes isn’t
My dream match-up to see
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz!!!!! Would only be unreal

haha yep
Exactly what I said when this was rumored a while back. It would just help solidify Strike Force as what Dana calls Strike Farce. You cannot give a guy who just got KFOed a title shot. I would have been like giving Bisping a crack at Anderson after Hendo decapitated him. (I understand there is also a skill discrepancy between Anderson and Over(ated)eem.

Been Mixed Reports
Last I heard it was a title fight. But cant wait to see if Rogers has improved from the Fedor fight. He really impressed me in defeat.

I hope he comes back strong
But I wanna see Overeem win so we can see him fight Fedor. Don’t wanna see Rodgers fight Fedor so soon after the KO, even though he did look impressive.
The Overeem fight (with Fedor) would be good to see with Overeem’s size and striking ability. I think he’s better than Rodgers striking wise so I wanna see that fight
My dream match-up to see
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz!!!!! Would only be unreal
Why isn't it Fedor vs. Overeem???
Oh…that’s right…it’s cause Overeem has pics of Coker with another man. Only excuse I can think of.
That's like giving the loser of Mir/Carwin a shot.
That makes no sense. What are they doing? Overroids should be stripped and the winner of this should fight the winner of Fedor/Werdum for the title. That makes sense.
Coker has no Control over the HW situation right Now.
by AintNoSunshine on Mar 19, 2010 3:07 PM EDT up reply actions
He never did in the begining
Cause of the whole Overeem farce. I said it before, I don’t blame Overeem for not defending his belt. I blame Coker for not making him defend it or stripping him of it
My dream match-up to see
BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz!!!!! Would only be unreal
MArch April and May are looking good
Hendo is enough for me but add in the heavy hitter Rogers facing no show Overeem!! I’m pumped
"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth - Mike Tyson
Hendo will crush Shields
That fight is as rediculous as Fedor vs. Rogers
thank you puck
Think that’s the 1st positive comment this whole thread?
Delldog he knows there on separate dates that’s why he mentioned 3 months in the heading of his post.

How many does Strikeforce have on it roster???
A dozen or so???? Probably NO more than 12 relevant names anyhow. Strikeforce is kind of a joke, let me explain…..
They have a HW “champ” that has NOT defended his title in 2 and 1/2 years(while take 7 or 8 fights in between for OTHER organziations).
They have a TOP HW who signs a 3 fight contract…..then decides the contract is NOT good enough, so he is NOT fighting until “a little tweaking” is done.
They have a WW title holder that will not stop smoking pot, and is therefore not reliable.
They have a MW title holdwer that IS NOT a MW and will be going the the UFC after next fight anyhow.
Cung Le isnt an MMA fighter, and too focused on movies anyhow. Good striker. But if you knock a guy down 4 or 5 times and cant fnish him……you better stick with acting
No matter how much sharing and borrowing from other organizations……Strikeforce SIMPLY can not make good matches CONSISTANTLY. Prime example, A guy is fighting for the title who just lost his last fight??
Sorry Strikeforce fans……the FEW good fighters NEED to go to the UFC. I think that guys like Diaz and Mousasi would rather be a big fish in a bowl of minnows, instead of going to the shark tank of the UFC.
me too

I will watch, but I still think UFC is lightyears better than SF
One of my friends said it best…SF is the poor man’s UFC
Just wondering....
Did you go on a similar tirade when R. Couture held out for nearly a year as the champion or when he got his title shot after a ko loss in a lower weight class. BJ, GSP, and the Spider are men among boys in their division yet you praise everyone else in those division as “top notch” competition. Quit hyping all of the UFC fighters like they’re in a class of their on (maybe some of their champions but not all).
I remember a few years ago, everyone was hyping Gabe Gonzaga. Now look at him. They even mention Kongo when debating the depth of the UFC HW division, now look at him. The UFC HW division on consist of Brock, Cain, Mir, and Dos Santos. Everyone else is somewhat over-rated or well marketed.
thats exactly what i attempted to say above.
Think yours just added and drove the point home delldog. Well done.

Agreed except the Diaz and Mousasi part...
Mousasi will be there soon and I think even Dana said Diaz should be in the UFC. I believe that will happen soon as well.
I think Nate will be in SF before Nick's in UFC

They shud just trade them!
I want 2 see Nick go head up with the WW in the UFC. Especialy GSP I think that wud ne asick ass fight.

Mcarthur is right there
And this will raise eyebrows, but I feel there’s so much better fights for bk Penn outside ufc I just wish he’d make a run across the other leagues and test and solidify himself as the best ever. If he went to sf/dream/bellator and ran through em all we’d see some fuckin beautiful match ups and he would undoubtedly be a pioneer for doing such and the pound for pound best fighter on earth ever.
And I don’t even particularly like the guy, so that speaks volumes. I know he’d never leave ufc but that would be fantastic to watch, and be a part of, even though it’d kill me a lil, cause I’m so pro GSP, and my best bud is so pro Penn. Lol

However....
By the end of the year the SF champs will likely be:
HW: Fedor – unfuckwittable
LHW: Moussasi – very legit
MW: Hendo – Extremely legit
WW: Diaz – Still tore up Gomi, I say very underrated (not GSP good but still a legit champ)
LW: Aoki (better than any LW in the UFC except Penn)
Very legit potential champs in SF, they will fill in from the top down.
Also, look at some of the UFC BS:
UFC: Lesnar gets a “title” shot after getting by Herring (and losing to Mir) against a man who have VACATED the title while there was already a second interim title fight being promoted as a title fight for an entire season of TUF…what a gigantic crock of terds.
Replace Rampage for Cung Le in your argument.
Rampage isnt an MMA fighter, and too focused on movies anyhow. Good striker.
UFC: Tito is so out of the title picture yet he consistently gets fights. The point of sports is to try to fight for a championship. He is WINLESS in his last 4 fights and the UFC is making him coach of TUF and headlining a UFC event. He is done…he will never fight for a title, yet he is still geven a chance to fight. Give that money to someone who can still “compete” and his space to someone who deserves it.
UFC: Kimbo….do I really need to say anything about his chump? If he claims to want to become a MMA fighter why does he have no, and I mean NO ground game in the 1+ YEAR that he has be fighting professionally? How about signing up for a M–W–F night course in BJJ at your local McDojo Kimbo?
UFC: Dan Henderson, not re-signed because his personality is considered too boring to promote. This guy is a legend and I believe the first guy to simultaneously hold title in two divisions of a MAJOR promotion. I don;t want to talk to the fighters, I want to see Hendo and Anderson rematch. He took a round from Anderson (the only guy to have I believe)….that’s what I want. Not some butthole with a crazy haircut talking smack and having an attitude.
UFC: Junie Browning’s brother added to the next season of TUF…" Dana White, “yeah, let’s add that guys brother to our next amateur tournament….that would be great”
Say all you want, but SF is just as legit and is more of threat to the UFC then, Affliction, Elite XC, or IFL ever was. they have a network backing them and will have a very legoit set of champs by the end of the year. Sorry dude, love on the UFC all you want. SF is going to be bigger and bigger

although that sounded a lil malicious in manner
…it really wasn’t, and is just a big shock for most ppl to take in and accept.
I however applaud 90% or more of your post and think your points are the same I and some others share, and are very true. There isn’t many that do agree with us (or fear the consequences of saying so), but its really the reality of things and again, I’m glad you share the same view as I.

Good post
I think UFC is great and all but at the same time think competition is good for the sport. It gives fighters more opportunities, leads to more fights for the fans, and in general will help the sport grow through diversification (similar to how the breaking up of monopolies and encouragement of competitive markets leads to more and higher quality products for consumers).
Strikeforce is definitely moving in the right direction by partnering with M-1 to expose the uneducated masses to top talent from overseas and by putting on the Challengers series to bring up young talented guys as well. It is going to take some time for their talent pool to get as deep as the UFC but it’s hard to argue with that lineup of potential champs Dave mentioned.
Don’t get me wrong the UFC is awesome but if you’re a real MMA fan it should come down to wanting to see great fights, and there are some great SF cards coming up. For the life of me I will never understand why an MMA fan would be opposed to competition because ultimately it will create more great fights and encourage more up and coming talent to develop and make sure the sport keeps growing and evolving.

Definitely a great time to be a "casual mma" fan
Hardcore fans are always complaining about something.
THEY ARE DOING THE BEST THEY CAN
is strikeforce the UFC, no. they are a local show that has had some success and is now trying to capitalize from their recent growth in the marketplace. they’re prime goal now is to make money and survive competing against the ufc. they gotta put on the best fights they can. ive got no problem with this fight even if it is a title fight. fedor was probably offered the fight and turned it down. the ufc used to do some iffy things in their begining too.

Im from a hr south of st.louis, I went last year and tickets were cheap 30 bucks for not so bad of seats. I ll be going this year too I guess
That is cheap

Rogers knocks this chumps head off.. then will we consider Rogers Legit?
Wayne Gretsky, Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Muhammed Ali, FEDOR EMELIANKO
YES!!
that will definatley help hiz credibilty and relevance.. but then he needz to fight in the UFC…
"If I told you I was good, you would think I am boasting. If I told you I was not good, you would know I am lying" Bruce Lee
yeah,
then when he goes to the UFC and wipes out half the Heavyweight contenders maybe people will consider Fedor legit too – because for some reason there are millions of Brock nuthuggers who think he’s the best ever for beating Couture (ancient and feeble), Herring (whoopee) and Mir x 2 (bleh) – yet say Fedor is nothing because he’s not in the UFC despite beating many legends of the sport and never (realistically) losing a fight.
well he's not a chump...
But I don’t see him as this great champ – top 10 maybe, but he’d be schooled by many in their prime.
i consider Mir at least in the Top 5... ..

But not every fighter need to be proven in the UFC. Some weight classes are just as good. HW being very close. UFC whore! lol
