I want to talk about fedor seen as it’s a ‘free speech’ thread. Been watching MMA for a long time, and I’ve always been captivated by the Russian mystery. From what I’ve seen, and read, I think he is as unbeatable as anyone in MMA. He has earned that reputation, anyone who says he hasn’t fought any real greats can kiss my ass. Though I do worry that with the image he has rightfully earned for himself, do you think his management are trying to protect him because, either.
1. He is getting on a bit, and slowing down (I don’t think so, think he is the smartest fighter out there)
2. As with Cro-cop, Tito, Chuck, Hughes etc MMA moved on and they didn’t?

Fedor Hasnt Fought Any Greats.
Lately. M-1 and Fedor have deliberately avoided fighting the toughest guys out there. Since his entity M-1 Owns his right if they truly wanted to fight the top guys they would find rankings and realize who the top guys are. Overeem is that guy outside of the UFC. Lesnar, Mir, Carwin and Velasquez are those guys in the UFC. And he isnt unbeatable. Nobody is. With 4oz Gloves and his paper thin skin all it takes is a BJ Penn-like Kick on Diego to end Fedors night. But so far his brilliant strategies in his fights have saved him from that scenario

That’s what I worry about, Fedor did fight the best in the world, when they were the best in the world, but MMA has moved on, and I don’t see him fighting the top HW, who are all in UFC. Is it bullshit profit making image shit by his management (don’t fuck with Russian ‘businessmen’) or do you think he honestly believes he might get fucked over. Because from all I see of Fedor, and he is my favourite MMA fighter, he is not scared of anything. I know a lot about psychology, and he shows less fear than anyone I’ve ever seen. It’s who he is, like a Honey Badger!!!

Skill Wise I Dont Even Consider Him Elite.
His stand up has been effective but many have pointed out he strikes flat footed. His same ol predictable looping left is very old yet it still works. So mechanic wise he is flawed. Even his guard jumping is a bit reckless yet it works. I stopped considering him elite when he fought HMC. But it all works for him so I cant nit pick it.
M-1 has ruined him. If he had a better team behind him I totally can see him in the UFC where his marketability would sky rocket and I think he could beat those guys too. But not in years has he fought tough guys consistently.

I'm not sure about brilliant strategies
I have only really seen his more recent fights, but he didn’t seem to have a great strategy fighting AA or Rogers. He just one punch KOd them both; it is hard to argue with the results, but they were both outworking him before lights out. In the few old clips I have seen for him, he seems to just have a toughness to take a beating and an ability to finish fights. But he doesn’t seem like a great game planner, imo.
He Outstruck a Prime Cro Cop.
He won a ground battle with a prime Big Nog. I would say his gameplanning is sick. Vs AA he weathered an early storm waiting for an opening and blasted AA. Vs Rogers Im still not too sure of his gameplan.
