Current Strikeforce middleweight champion and undeafeted since 2004, Jake Shields comes off thirteen victories in a row and now has the hardest match of his career versus Dan Henderson on April 17. Shields has been training jiu-jitsu with friends Nick and Nate Diaz and experienced a six-week camp with Robert Drysdale in Las Vegas recently where also had the opportunity of helping Chuck Liddell as BJJ coach for the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Jake is going to do the last fight of the current contract and after that will talk to both Strikeforce and UFC to decide what organization he will fight for. Is Shields a good name for UFC? Laughable. As for this fight Dan has the better striking and wrestling but he can get carried away looking for the KO with his overhand right and I’m hoping that Shields can use this to his advantage and wear out Dan as he looks for the KO. Dan’s been taken down before by inferior wrestlers because he got reckless so there is a chance that it could happen again and if Jake sees an opening then he can choke out Dan quickly. Jake’s not going to fight like a moron in this one anyway, he won’t run into Hendo’s overhand right like Bisping did and he’s got better takedowns than Palhares. I’m not saying that he’ll win but don’t sleep on Jake, he’s on the roll of his career and like it or not has beaten some top competition lately at both WW and MW. He won’t be an easy fight for anyone.

I had to go back and watch a couple of Shields' fights. He isn't a LnP fighter, but he has fought some atrocious competition.

He's also fought some top guys
Semtex, Lawler and Mayhem were his last 3 opponents, none of them are atrocious by any means. He’s also beaten Mach, Okami and Condit in the past as well. You don’t go on a 13 fight win streak and win titles in 2 different weight classes without having skills. I’m looking forward to seeing Jake prove a lot of people wrong in this fight by giving Hendo a tough time win or lose.

Like I said Hendo's one big weakness is Shields biggest strength.
I think Hendo is going to win this in the first two rounds but if the fight gets into the third and past Shields will have a big advantage as Hendo’s one big weakness is his endurance and Shiels motot is endless.3-5th rounds Hendo will be at 80 to 60% were Shields will be at 99%

Hendo has only one major weakness and it happens to be Shields strength
And thats endurance. If Hendo can’t finish the fight in the first two rounds he’s in trouble. I’m a huge Hendo fan and he can take out shields in the first two rounds because I don’t think Shields will be able to take down a fully charged Hendo or even be close in the 1st and second, but if Shiels is able to wear on Hendo and get this fight into the 3rd round and past the fight leans toward Shield in my opinion. It’s a tough call because Dan is so dangerous and Shields has a endless motor.

He’s already said the same thing his last contract was up with Elite XC…that he wants to fight the best yada yada yada…then signs with Elite XC and says it made the most sense with him.
Jake will probably never sign on with the UFC cause he likes being the big fish in a small pond and likes to be able to call out GSP from a safe distance cause he knows it’ll never happen as long as he is with SF.

His style isn’t exciting enough for most fans and if he’s coming off a loss I don’t think Dana will really care to have him, and it certainly won’t be a bidding war. BUT, it was shown on ShowTime and probably had like 325,000 viewers. Millions will watch on CBS.

I, for one, have no problem with anyone questioning GSP. It’s not that serious. I do however have a slight issue with the unreasonably large amount of cats on here that bend over ass-backwards to diss the guy. It’s hating, pure and simple. I just don't see how he can beat...
…he can’t outwrestle him or outstrike him, and I don’t think his jiu jitsu is good enough to sub Hendo. I expect him to lose to Henderson, but probably still get a deal with the UFC where he’ll drop back to WW.
If Dan beats Jake
then SF would not mind losing him at all. Lets face, Jake is not one of their big draws at all. I bet Coker reads this and thinks to himself “So what”. You know everyone in SF is now rooting for Dan big time. Jake better beat Dan, because if he loses he has not real chips to play with. The UFC won’t want to pay a guy who just lost to Hendo tons of money, and SF won’t want to pay all that much to a guy who is not a fan favorite, not a champion, and won’t fight @ 170 against Diaz . Jake is putting a lot of pressure on himself, and he does not match up well with Dan for all the reasons Ulf said earlier. In the long run, this fight is worth a whole lot of money in bargaining chips for Jake, he might want to keep his mouth shut and focus on Hendo.

I give him a ton of respect for fighting Hendo when he is really a true WW. Even if by some Serra (Miracle) he wins, I still say he goes to the UFC and fights in the WW division. I would love to see how he does against the GSP, AKA boys, Serra, Daley again…

no the site blacked out and a warning was posted on my computer screen
and i had to it ok i understand then it let me back on the site. Now i have seen a ton that you guys have done. It actually makes a lot of sense for Jake to compete in the UFC. He’s definitely better than a lot of the fighters in WW and an interesting matchup with George.
I used to like Bisping till he kept running his mouth leading up to the Hendo fight, my favourite knockout of the year. Haven’t got a problem with Jake Shields, except he looks like he should still be at school, Hendo again by BIG knockout, heres praying

I actually think Jake, Diaz, Melendez, Fedor, etc etc….should all stay in Strikeforce. Without them Strikeforce would have no one…then no Strikeforce…without strikeforce no comp…to have other stars in other prgs are great…
