I'm with you bud

I like him and the UFC could use more guys with that kind of energy and heart. Yeah he might lay on people from time to time but for the most part he brings it and has been involved in some of the most exciting fights win or lose. His fight with Huerta was awesome despite his loss. I don’t get a lot of the hatered for this guy but to each his own.

Im a huggie fan

his only bad (if you can call it that) was his win over Diaz. I thought that bout was less than entertaining but aside – always exciting. Plus he takes a wicked kick to the face and keeps coming.

I want Ricardo Arona to sign with the UFC and his first fight should be James Toney. This is a win win scenario for MMA

I dont think Huggie is that exciting

Yeah, it takes two to make a fight, but the guys he fights have won multiple fight of the night awards (Huerta, Diego, Tyson, Nate). Its the guys who Huggie fights that make the fight exciting.

wow good job guys!

The 1st 3 posts were in support of Clay? And from separate posters? Nice. I was expecting the regular slaughtering of his name by the same ol’ hockey fight fans on here.

Go Clay! Ill have your Iron Maiden knock off silverstar shirt hanging from the ceiling for this one. Good guy, and good sense of humor. Take em to school Clay!

How about his fight with Danzig?

Or many others. I like guys with intensity and heart also but also like them to have talent, not stall tactics.

I just wish he would improve a little. He needs a boxing coach more than any other fighter I can think of

bs! plz dont ever lose the hair

That’s like Chuck without a mohawk or BK Penn with his Mr. Burns style when he’s not in the cage, or GSP w/hockey hair! Don’t do it guys!

You wanna see what happens when they switch it up? Plz see Arlovski since he cleaned his image more. The Pitbull with the wolverine like hair and chest hair etc was wicked, then he shaved it all, and it was like they took his cape!

Go clay!

I like clay guida. I pull for him almost every fight.

Clay barley ever gets break. I think he was robbed against Tyson griffin! Hope he gets the W! He always brings it.

Love a guida fight, don’t care if he loses, guaranteed good show.

Someone should tie him up and make him stand still for a second. His retarded entrances are extremely annoying to watch, relax ffs.

This fight is guaranteed to be a snorefest

Clay’s going to take Gugerty down at will and hold him as usual, the only exciting Guida fights I’ve seen are the ones where he’s getting beaten up because he has no offense other than takedowns and holding onto position.

just because I dont like a guy doesn't mean I'm a hater.

And I’m not making anything up or hating when I say that Guida just stalls and doesn’t try to do anything besides takedown and half-guard at best.

He sets a fast relentless pace and his wrestlign and scrambles are good

But he doesnt pose much of a threat wtih his hands. He throws quick and crisp combos that mainly distract so he can get a TD.(lots of fighters do this). This bugs me about wrestlers in MMA like guida and sherk and diego to an extent. They dont develop Solid striking games they develop striking for wrestlers.

Please don't lump Sherk or Diego in with this idiot

Sherk has good boxing (just doesn’t have the physique with the t-rex arms to benefit) and when he takes people down he attacks, including passing the guard and in general going on offense (not locking his hands around someone and grimacing for two minutes) and Diego, when has he come close to the lay and pray that Guida does time and again.

by Mayhem chimpanzee on Mar 16, 2010 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah. I am pretty sure that my previous post did not contain Diego or Sherk. Reading comprehension is a valuable skill, my friend.

I think hes talking about me

I wasnt saying sherk stalls, I was just reffering to my personal annoyance w/ wrestlers who develop that kind of striking game, where they throw quick combos with no power behind them just as a distraction to get the TD. this is why wrestler v wrestler is the worst possible matchup in mma becasue theyll just dance around throwing combos with nothing on them

Out of all of his UFC fights I've only seen him do any real offense against Tyson

In all of his other fights he just takes guys down and controls them, avoiding submissions from on top. Sure he sets a fast tempo but that’s it, he did nothing offensively against Diego, Danzig, Diaz or Kenny and even against Huerta he was controlling him rather than hurting him. His striking is virtually non-existent and he just uses his BJJ skills to defend submissions instead of applying them.

I don’t find the guy fun to watch and for someone with a mediocre record he isn’t half full of himself, I was very unimpressed with his whining about the Diaz decision not being unanimous and he’s made dumb comments about Brock as well just for the sake of it.

"I'm gonna make him real, real uncomfortable"

Well, I guess that sums up his gameplan and it hasn’t changed. You ever greet a friend and a “bro hug” lasts like too seconds and it is awkward because it seems like it went on too long. Now imagine 15 minutes of that……“real, real uncomfortable.”
