If any love-blind gsp fans don’t see what dan is doing here i think that’ll speak for itself.
Every fighter releases reels and reels of video, showing them beating up their training parteners, submitting everyone, practicing their counters to the next opponent. Usually mixed in with super hardcore workouts (see nate marquart, bj penn etc).
This is the gentlest, easiest going workout i’ve ever seen. Dan hardy is a beast at 175. You think this is REALLY all his best workouts and techniques? He’s a smart, smart fighter. This video is like a distraction. You watch it and go, is that it? Look at this guy goofing around, barely sweating, skipping about a car park. Thats what we SEE. Then we underestimate. If you were preparing to fight the biggest fight of your life, would you release a video that shows your opponent your plan? Or one that might make him mentally relax a little?

how do you know?
If you suddenly became a fighter would you stop using the internet? Why wouldnt he watch it? Doesn’t GSP have a computer? That came off of Dan’s own blog, not just this site. Smart fighters research their opponents.
Even if he didn’t watch it, it’s the job of someone on his team to watch Dan Hardy’s every move in the run up to the fight, somewhere along the line, info gets passed down.

There is a difference though
And that difference is Hardy is not proclaiming to have a “legacy” and fight for it. Hardy isn’t appointed the “best fighter evar!!!11” That’s GSP—and yet he just wrestles, lays in people’s guard/half guard (unless vaso’ed up, of course), plays it incredibility safe in the cage, and plays a points game with him always coming out on top due to his great takedowns. His best way to end a fight was in his striking. That was until he became scared to death of taking a punch after Serra slapped him around.

GSP has only been rocked once, by Matt Serra and that was by a punch that caught him directly behind the ear. Was it a lucky shot? No, I dont believe in lucky shots. I’m sure Serra trained his ass off for the fight and good things come to those who put in the work. That in no way means I dont think Hardy is putting in the time, but if you think he is “scared” to stand with him I think you are solely mistaken.
And if by “scared” you mean he will dominate the fight on the ground because he is clearly superior there, then yes, he is “scared”.
Am I the only one giving Hardy a chance?
I think he’s much better than a +500 underdog like the books have him.

Hardy’s had more fights, he’s clearly better on the feet also.
Hopefully he hasnt bothered with takedown defense. He WILL get taken down. What he should have been working on is getting up to the feet and scrambling.

Hardy is a big welterweight.
I think GSP’s gonna have to work harder for the takedowns. I know Alves was big too but Hardy is built a little differently. Who knows how he’ll comeback off that injury too.
