The UFC still "protecting" Bisping???

I am new to the Fanpost section here at Mmamania.  So, bare with me on this, and if you are a Bisping fan you can stop reading now.  I just want to throw an idea out there and see what you guys think.  Rumors are swirling about that Bisping will fight Dan Miller at UFC 114 in Las Vegas.  I will state here that I hate everything about Michael Bisping and how he is marketed by the UFC.  He has had the "easiest" path of just about any UFC fighter.  I could go on and on and on.  So here is my idea!!!!

I think an abvious choice for Bisping's next fight would be against Nate Marquardt.  They both are coming off losses  and at nearly the same time.  Bisping has said again and again how he wants "top" MW's, but somehow he rarely faces them.  What do you guys thinks???

I am going to start a "TWEET" bomb in hopes that many, many more will follow.  I am going to "tweet" to @danawhite something along the lines of..... STILL "protecting" Bisping???  Obvious choice and the fight fans want also is Marquardt/Bisping.  So, open a Twitter account, if you dont already have one, and starting sending Dana White the message!!!!  Dana has stated that he does listen to the fans, so lets give him something to think about.  Dana's name at Twitter is @danawhite

I kind of wrote this up very quickly....

When I said “keep feeding him cans”…I mean NO disrespect to guys like Miller, or Wand or Kang.

What I really meant was the guys like Sinosec, Haynes, McCarthy, and those guys they(UFC) built up his career on.

My hatred for this guy make me do things without thinking them thru!!

So

That mitigates your whole point? Because thats who he’s fighting now?

by theworldismine on Mar 2, 2010 10:41 AM EST up reply actions

The problem is he hasn't broke top 10...

Bizzzping and Miller are both hovering between top16 to top 11. The difference is Dan Miller as of late has only lost to Sonnen(#3 ranked) and Maia(#5 ranked). Bizzpings lose at MW is Hendo. BIzzping is nowhere near being deservant of any fight against a top 10 till he fights another one or 2 competitors. I think Miller and then maybe the winner of Cote/Belcher and then maybe he can get sent to slaughter against Okami or BElfot! Lets be honest, unless some strange things happen in mma over the next few years, Bizzping will never be a belt holder in the UFC, I doubt will ever break the top 10(and if he does it won’t be for any real length of time) and at best will be a top 10 gate keeper for the rest of his UFC career.

Miller is far from a can. The best BJJ man in the UFC (quite possibly all of mma) and the 2nd best wrestler at MW could not finish Miller-I don’t see how Bizzping will win this fight. Miller is as legit as they come and I think will win this fight. Bizzpings pillow fists won’t hurt Miller and if and when the fight hits the ground Miller will have a sizeable advantage and I believe will have a good chance of subbing Bizzping! I hope and pray I get to see Bizzzping go to sleep!

I hope he guillotines the shit outta Bizz's neck!!!

I would love seeing that, only next to another highlight reel KOTY!!!!

by fightfan on Mar 2, 2010 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

Thats cuz

the best BJJ fighter in the mma chose to stand up against him… Oh and both those fighters who couldnt finish him… won. Im still sayin Bisping by tko

by theworldismine on Mar 2, 2010 6:21 PM EST up reply actions

bispings last 7 fights

hammill, evans, mcarthy, day, henderson, kang, silva, and, you could argue that he won 6 of those 7….so he hasn’t been fighting cans,

by freedomthrtyfve on Mar 1, 2010 7:22 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

And Miller’s gonna get the job done all the same anyhoo. Don’t hate Bisping too much. Briefly met him and he was nothing but nice, but doesn’t make me think he’s a ‘top’ MW. I think it’ll be way too one sided if he fought Nate. Miller fight could be somewhat interesting, might see the jits of Bisping. Miller via UD or sub

My dislike for Bisping makes me a little biased towards him

You can definitely argue that he has had one of the easiest schedules in the UFC. It is just the UFC always give him the most winnable fights, period. Maybe it is because I am biased, but I think Bisping has gotten such an easy path to fame and 100k/250k per fight, period

You look at the new guys today, even TUF fighters, they get faced agaisnt good competition immediately. Just think if Bisping got the Paulo Thiago treatment??

I am hoping that Dan guillotines him the first takedown that Bisping goes for. Maia striking was as good, if not better than Miller’s….so you know Bisping can outpoint him on the feet

You could also argue that aliens built the pyramids. It doesn’t make it true.

Have you ever seen Alien vs Predator? Actually don't both films are bloody awful

Seriously Bisping got an easy start into the UFC, as did other TUF winners like Forrest and Rashad to start with. After beating cans they got their opportunities against top competition, the difference was that Bisping was the British posterboy so when he fought substandard opposition his fights were promoted as co-main events of PPVs. Even worse he almost got KO’d by Elvis, submitted by Red and arguably lost a decision to Hamill yet he behaved as though he was a world class fighter already. That is where the criticism of his record comes from.

McCarthy was a retarded fight for him, just because he was a fight or 2 removed from a SD loss to Rashad

and the fact that McCarthy hadn’t fought in forever. And Freedom— you forgot Leben, a fight that a lot of guys thought that Bisping would lose

I voted other, i said give him the winner of Cote/Belcher. Good fight waiting there, or even Kendall after his next fight. They could hype it as “TUF Season 3 winners square off”

Thats a pretty impressive list

I don’t like bisping much either but to say he never fights tough opponents is just stupid.

by mma guru on Mar 1, 2010 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

I am just saying comparitively

If you take a look at the UFC records of the guys Bisping beat and compare them to any other fighter, I’ll bet that Bisping’s opponents have just about the lowest stats. Every fighter that Bisping faced with WINNING UFC records…..he lost to(well except Hammil, and need I say more)

Just saying, at this point in his career…..Marquardt was the fight that should happen. BOTH haver similar UFC records. BOTH lost at nearly the same time. SO why not if Bisping IS a contender??? The UFC knows that Miller is not a good striker and knows that Marquardt would crush him, IMO.

Another decent opponent for Bisping, finally he's being put against good fighters

Dan Miller is a tough test for anyone however this is a winnable fight for Bisping, if he can keep it standing then he should have no problems with Dan. Dan has great grappling skills and will submit Bisping if he’s daft enough to take him down but his striking is very limited, if Maia could outbox Dan then Bisping shouldn’t have too much problems on the feet. I actually like this fight, both guys are coming off decision losses to top MWs and neither should be fighting cans or top talent like Marquardt at this point. No complaints from me about this fight at all, I’ve got Bisping by UD but it could be a close one.

Nate is the most logical pick

Cote is another on a list of possible fights?

Cote's fighting Belcher, otherwise either of them would be a good opponent for Bisping at this point

Them 3 as well as Miller are at the same level at this point.

EXACTLY....

If Silva would of lost his last fightt…..The UFC would have no problem facing A Silva/Marquardt.

I just see the OBVIOUS fight is Bisping vs Marquardt. BOTH have nearly the SAME UFC record. BOTH just lost at about the same time. SO why wouldnt they give Bisping Marquardt??? Answer is because the UFC still wants this guy to have the easiest path, period. It makes so much sense to make Bisping/Marquardt but the UFC knows Marquardt would make Bisping look silly(and the UFC still needs him to win)

by fightfan on Mar 2, 2010 12:24 PM EST up reply actions

Marquardt has been the top 2/3 fighter for nearly 3 years now...

Bizzping has yet to beat a top 20 fighter, let alone have the fast path to a title shot. I dont think he is being protected I just dont think they have the fights for him without making him completely irrelevant. He is in no mans land. Bizzping won’t beat any of the current top 10 let alone Nate. Okami, Belfort, or MAia are way more then he can handle.

Its funny

How some people even admit their bias makes them hate Bisping and say shit like this about him… Dan Miller just lost to a higher ranked MW than Bisping did, so is this really an unfair fight?

by theworldismine on Mar 2, 2010 10:43 AM EST reply actions

right,

To throw Bisping in there with Nate is just rediculous! Yes, he recently got beat bad by Sonnen, but I truely believe 9 times out of 10 Nate would of won that fight, and i still think he’s the no 2 MW in the world.

Why chuck Bisping into a fight he will definately lose?

This sport was build on pitting the best against the best, and throwing Bisping to Marquardt is the complete opposite.

So I say the Miller fight is spot on.

I am hoping that he does to Bisping what he did to Jake Rosholt!!!!

Or even better yet, the sickening neck crank/guillotine/trying to tear his head off that he had in the IFL. I forget who the poor guy was that nearly got his head tore off???

by fightfan on Mar 2, 2010 1:28 PM EST up reply actions

i'm as you say," a bisping nut hugger"

i really like the bloke, blah, blah, blah……..but i still want to see him face top competition, and i don’t think he would be fed to the lions if he fought nate, tough task, yes…impossible win..no. nobody, including me, gave sonnen a chance against nate,(yes i know some of you did, but i’m basing that on pure stupidity, lol…).as far as being protected, bisping has had his day, there is a huge crop of british fighters making their mark in the ufc now, hardy, semtex, etim, hathaway, so bisping is not the only star in the sky as far as the ufc brand in the uk is concerned…..and the fact he makes so much £$£$£$£$£$£$ may have something to do with the fact he won the ultimate fighter, and was then a coach……….how much do liddell, ortiz, randy and forrest get for promoting and making the ufc a household brand??

by freedomthrtyfve on Mar 2, 2010 12:43 PM EST reply actions

i agree that bisping makes big money for marketing the sport

thats marketing. just dont mention bisping’s name alongside liddell, ortiz, randy and forrest if we’re actually talking about fighting

I'm always thinking one step ahead. Like a carpenter . . . who makes stairs.

I dont Bisping deserves to fight Nate.

I would say give him anybody who wins their next fight out of, Almeida, Sakara, Quarry or Drwal.

by ShowMeYourJits on Mar 2, 2010 2:24 PM EST reply actions

Bisping is right where he belongs.

Beating dan miller isn’t going to be easy for bisping! Miller is real tough with the better ground skills.. His striking is improving enough to stand with bisping but i think miller wins this fight by taking him down and laying some GnP on bisping while looking for the sub..
