and i don't think Cain hits hard enough to damage Nog or get near finishing him
He could have always got stronger but I see a NOG victory on the horizon. Hopefully this is a lot more than wishful thinking.
I bet against both Paulo Thiago and Mark Coleman:
- THiago impressed the sh1t out of me.
- Coleman you owe me $20 bucks.
Im hopin right there with you
I just dont see anyway Cain wins except for decision. I think nog is gonna box him up on the feet and if it eventually hits the ground NOG subs him. Nog by 3rd rnd submission. He has a lot more ways to win then Cain does
Going to church doesnt make you any more Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.
In a close fight always bet on the guy who has more ways to finish the fight
This is a hard one to call, but I’m picking Nog because I can see him winning on the feet or subbing Cain on the ground. I can only see Cain winning by decision.
"I like being punched... I like... punchin'" ~Gray Maynard
or
bet on the better wrestler since the judges are so into homo shows that they score more for some weak ass takedown which should score zero in reality if they scored it like real fights.
Matteo Serra is the mayn! Forza Italia.
But you know what?
I was taken down once in a fight before, and it hurts on the back man, no kiddin’! Good thing upkicks are very legal in streetfights even if the opponent is on his knees, so he ate the soles of my Chucks! LOL

damn..
i cant wait for this fight! It sucks though cuz i dont want to see wither one of them lose, unless this was a title fight. Thi is gonna be a war and i think Cain will pull it off.
i dont mind Cain losing in the slightest
I think he’ll finally be exposed as a B level fighter. Rothwell and Kongo were perfect for Cain’s style. Nog will be his first wrestling and, well, everything else test. He’s gonna get rolled.
GO NOG!

Let’s see what he thinks about Cain’s ground and pound…….Cain will win this fight by unanimous decision, but only because Nog is a tough bastard and is one of the few guys that can withstand having this guy pound on him for 3 rounds. It doesn’t matter how effective Cain’s submissions are, what is relevant is his ability to avoid submissions, and this is an area where Cain is extremely underrated. Nog is gonna take a healthy beating in this one……if i’m wrong, i’ll be the first one to come back and admit it, but i don’t think i’m wrong here.
Nog has submitted some of the best in his career...
It is one thing to be underated in sub defense, but who in his long illustrious career of 7 fights has he had to fight, who you would even vaguely call a submission specialist or true bjj fighter? It is on thing to avoid the submission in practice and training, it is a whole other thing to avoid getting subbed by Big Nog. Big Nog is the epitome of bjj in mma.

Umm weren’t you listening? He said Cain has a very underrated ground defense. Lol I sounded like Rogan saying that. I’m just spankin’ ya Monkey, I got no idea what this guy is talking about.
Oh! Most likely that time when Kongo was looking to tap him out from playing turtle, then rolling into a vicious armbar like we’re getting accustomed to from Kongo.

the reason i think his sub defense is underrated is exactly because he hasn’t had the opportunity to show it in a fight….it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it…….the guy has never had to show it because he’s never done anything but dominated the people he’s fought. Have you seen this guy train? If Cain loses this fight, i’ll be the first one to come back to this site, tip my cap and start eating crow…the question is, will you guys do the same if Cain ends up delivering a 3 round beating on NOG?? I doubt it, but i will give you the benefit of the doubt.
Trust me
these guys aren’t going anywhere.
Btw what do you mean by that…
the reason i think his sub defense is underrated is exactly because he hasn’t had the opportunity to show it
You think it’s good because you haven’t seen it? that seems a little odd.

I didn’t say i haven’t seen it…..i said he hasn’t had a chance to show it…..hence, most people have not seen it, making him underrated in this area…….make sense?

Sorry guys, i didn’t realize this one of those sites where’s you’re a dipshit and have no credibility if you don’t have at least 500+ posts? I don’t have time to spend 8 hours a day posting, so WTF do i know? I can see that Nog has a strong following of supporters, but i don’t think it’s going to save him on Feb 20th.
No.. It's not like that
it’s just that people here notice when you say something stupid or unsubstantiated in an attempt to present an argument.
Just admit that saying Cain has under rated subs D wasn’t the smartest thing to say…

In my vocabulary, if a guy hasn’t shown something, or had a chance to show something, it hasn’t existed, and is therefore underrated…..i guess “not rated” would be a more valid expression…….So if i were to rephrase, i would say that Cain is still going to win this fight, and he will show the world that he has a strong submission defense (as opposed to “underrated.”)
I feel like that's the closest I'll get to an admission
So I’ll take.

look dude, i’m saying that Cain is gonna whoop his ass, and that his submission defense exists, contrary to the fact that he’s never had to show it. Have I seen him train? No. Have I spoken to people that have knowledge of his training? Yes. Like i said, i’m not going anywhere, and if Cain taps out, i’ll be here, and you can tell me i’m a stupid dipshit, and I’ll say “wow man, i really didn’t give NOG the respect he deserves.” Everyone has their bandwagons, and i happen to be on Cain’s. We will see in less than 2 weeks.
I have been here since the mania days...
and when I am wrong and made to feel stupid and bested, I am the first come out and say it…I have done it with my all time most hated fighter in Bisping(when he fought KAng, sigh it still pains me to this day), just did it with UFC 109 (thanks to Chael, disrupting my MW mental game plan, and will most certainly come out and eat my own words, if Cain delivers a 3 round beating of NOG. That being said, think about what you are saying….
…….the guy has never had to show it because he’s never done anything but dominated the people he’s fought.
The reason he has never had to show it because he has not fought one single person known for submissions. Secondly, he has yet to fight a ranked or decorated bjj specialist. Finally, you absolutely can not train for a fighter like Nog. There is very few fighters that can take a beating like Nog and still easily slap on a submission like an annaconda that has not eaten in months. Nog’s bjj is plays out like a superior chess match. He baits you into subs that are 3 and 4 transitions away. While you can train for scenarios, it is much different once you are in the cage with the best. Nog is leaps and bounds ahead of Cain in the stand up and his skill level off of his back imo, through experience and lack of Cains experience, leaves Nog in a better, all around, more favorable position. Cain is most certainly the better wrestler, but he has far less tools in his shed then Big Nog.
There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, "Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman".
I wasn't triyng to sound like an ass by saying....
I have been here since the mania days if that is the way that came out. Let me apologize ahead of time before I get flamed for the way that came out. I was just trying to say that since the mania days when I am more wrong or say something dumb, then I am more then happy to eat my words, like I am right now =)
Kg12 I posted before I realized you posted a response. Just so you know though most of the regulars on here are pretty cool and although little tiffs happen every once in a while most are pretty cool. Most of us have ben flamed at one point or another. The majority of the regulars are well educated, die hard mma enthusiasts and when you say something that just don’t jive you will get called out for it. It happens to everyone, at some point or another. You will see who is good to converse with, which people are completely out of their gord when posting, and when someone is just an outright asshole! Keep coming back because I will be expecting to see your post eating you Cain Train Words! =)
There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, "Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman".
I’ll tell you what Monkey, i’ll take it a step further…..Not only will i be back to individually eat crow in front of all of you if Nog wins……I will not say I told you so if Cain happens to win in an unimpressive fashion (A la Clay Guida). I will only say i told you so if Cain delivers a dominant, unanimous performance.
Wow I will say one thing you are truly...
behind Cain that much! Well I am glad in your confidence. I have my favorite fighters but when they stand/have stood before their biggest challenge I don’t think I have called for ultimate domination, like you are. Out of curiousity, do you think how much you like Cain maybe blinding you a bit in this fight or do you trully think he has the better skill set, that he will completely dominate a fighter who is hands down still one of the most fierce HW’s mma has ever seem? I have done that in the past a la BJ/GSP II! I really thought BJ was going to dominate, man I still hate watcing that fight… Anyway look foward to shooting the shit with you more…
There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, "Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman".
I think it’s a litte bit of both. I would consider myself a huge Cain fan, which i admit is certain to cloud my judgement a bit. I’m also feel that the guys with really strong wrestling pedigree have a big advantage, mainly due to the way the UFC judges score these bouts. Another factor here is that I feel that Big Nog is on the decline….it’s not that i dislike him, i just don’t like to see the older guys lose their game. I suspect that Cain is seriously on the rise, and that NOG is going downhill fast……and we’ll see if i’m way off base there.
should be a great fight
cain is undoubtedly the next big star in the HW division more so than even dos santos imo.. that being said i think he will get submitted in this fight if he takes the fight to the ground the whole fight esp in the later rounds like he usually does with his other opponents.
nog looked great against randy, and i really do think that injuries was the reason he lost to to mir and looked so slow.. his brother has been lookin good too lately they have a lot of experience and I don’t know how many good fights they have left in them.. a lot of wear and tear on their bodies from wars they have been in
good fight
that is a bad match up for cain. big nog is a good boxer and so is cain but nog is a submission specialist and can cain defened that i dont know but i cant wait to find out. Im still rooting for Cain
NOG has improved his striking and conditioning before he fought Randy and it showed
The old NOG relied so heavily on his Bjj, and in todays MMA with the training in defending being so much better than years past combined the strikes NOG has endured over the years I think he had too evolve his game to be a contender and by the last fight it looking good. NOG has the heart of a champion and looks to have the same desire with improved conditioning and striking I think we will see the best NOG ever. For those that think his chin is suspect based on one fight I think your wrong but even if you are right he won’t need the same chin he had from Pride with a much more well rounded game. I’m taking NOG in this one, Cain is no give me as he’s is a very relentless well conditioned fighter with a huge heart, but the weak striking ability and fact that he is facing probally the best JJ artist in the HW division that is in the best shape of his life, improved his striking, experience advantage and appears to have the desire again makes me believe Cain is going to be in trouble. A loss for Cain won’t be the end of the world he has many years left in MMA and either way I think this fight will be a positive for him.
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
as i’ve stated, i’m predicting Cain, but i totally agree with you regarding Nog’s chin. That Mir fight was an anomaly…..i’ve seen Nog take brutal shots and he never gets knocked out….i actually think Nog has one of the best chin’s in the division, and ultimately will rob Cain of another GNP ref stoppage. Cain may have to settle for a UD in this one because Nog is as tough as they come. Unfortunately, i think Nog’s age will show against Cain, but he’s still tough enough to hang.
no no
Nog has been a very good boxer for about 6-7 years now, he was back to almost normal again in his fight with Randy i’ve seen him be quite a bit better standing.
Nog has one of the best chins in the divison it’s hard to take a punch and stay standing when your legs are completely f’d up going into a fight.
Phenomenal Angel, Cain being faster standing is not going to be a factor in the fight or in any fight where the other guy is technically superior and hits harder because of that.
Matteo Serra is the mayn! Forza Italia.
cain is younger and faster
I don’t think cain is dumb enough to take nog down.
Therfore it will be a stand up fight, I think nog is more technical but cain is faster, took massive shots from kongo and nog doesn’t hit like that.
I’m not saying cain takes it, but he is hungry.
by Phenomenal Angel on Feb 9, 2010 9:43 PM EST via mobile reply actions
I think that is cain best way to win the fight,, I think he will take nog to the ground over and over and try to ground and pound the entire fight, i see him winning all three rounds by unimious deciosn. I think nog will try a few submision attempts but i see cain escaping
I think that is exactly what will happen. Nog will go for submissions, but Cain will power his way thru it……Cain is a goddamn beast on the ground, and i believe he’s fast enough and strong enough to stay out of those submissions. Also, i can practically guarantee that Cain’s been working his ass off on submission defense, and the guys at AKA do a great job of preparing their fighters. I’m really impressed with Cain’s GNP, he doesn’t just lay on top of guys, he’s looking to pound them thru the canvas. This is the biggest test in Cain’s young career, and I think he’s gonna have a great night.
I can just hear what people will be saying when he wins a decison , yes he won but he has no knockout power. Neither does st peirre, but he is considered one of the best ever.
One more thing….there’s more than 1 way to accomplish a knockout…….maybe Cain isn’t a one punch knockout artist, but that’s not his style……you can also knock a guy out after violating him on the ground for about 10 minutes, and then knocking him out with 7-8 uncontested hammerfists……i wonder what Rothwell thought of his “knockout power” when he was floating down Queer Street…
"i cant wait to tell everyone i told you so"
Don’t hold your breathe.
I’m definitely remembering KG12 and #1 piggy for after this fight. Thing is neither of you will come back after this fight.
On a sidenote plz don’t use GSP & Cain in the same sentence. Like Night and Day.

I’ll be here bro……i have strong opinions, and by no means am i correct 100% of the time. I happen to feel that Cain is on the rise, NOG is on the decline, and these guys are catching each other at a time that benefits both of these paths. I will be back to comment regardless of the outcome. Anybody that claims 100
% accuracy is full of shit…
lol im far from 100%
I just think there’s easier fights to call a W for then Cain over Nog. I can see CC/Ben going either way, and bader/Jardine as well. Neither would surprise me. Hell I’m the guy who won’t be surprised if Wandy loses decision (even though I’m picking Wandy by KO). I’m simply saying those fights have a better chance of getting the upsets then Cain does of upsetting Nog.
All the power to ya if you come back for the ‘I told ya so’, most of us that have been here a long while have had to feel it at one point of another.

I’m usually pretty good about avoided the UFC wagon…i just happen to be a huge Nightmare fan, and my judgement can get a bit cloudy when he fights. As a result, i no longer post predictions on his fights, i only post words of support. I’ve always hated BJ Penn, and that has clouded my judgement in the past, but i won’t let that happen again. As much as it pains me to say it, that dude is the best LW in the world, i have no doubt.
Looking forward to this one.
Tough one to pick. If NOG shows up in shape like he did for Randy, he’s got a good shot. He does have a lot of mileage on him which can kinda negate his tremendous experience level. Looking forward to Cain having a tough fight. Should tell us a lot about him after this fight. He’s pretty much had his way with everybody thus far. NOG ain’t no Rothwell!!
Can't wait to watch...
I hope Cain gets destroyed. He is a good fighter, but he is overhyped. I think they need to give him some more fights before a title shot. I personally feel they are giving him exposure to anchor the Mexican market(heavyweight division) in the UFC. I say WAR NOG!
