UFC 114: Chris Leben vs Aaron Simpson possibly set for May 29
Hard-hitting Chris Leben (19-6) and undefeated Aaron Simpson (7-0) have agreed to throw leather in a middleweight bout at UFC 114 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 29, according to Hector Castro of the Ground and Pound, in conjunction with Rear Naked Choke Radio.
"The Crippler" is coming off a a unanimous decision victory over Jay Silva at UFC Fight 20 in Fairfax, Virginia. Prior to that bout, Leben had lost consecutive fights to Jake Rosholt at UFC 102 and Michael Bisping at UFC 89. The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 alum was forced to take a long leave of absence from the game after he tested positive for steroids following his contest with Bisping.
Arizona Combat Sports product Aaron Simpson has reeled off three wins in a row since coming over to the UFC early last year. His most recent fight ended in controversy after he was awarded a split decision victory over Tom Lawlor at UFC Fight Night 20.
Both fighters are hovering in the middle of the pack in the middleweight division, but with a win at UFC 114, one man will make the proverbial step up in the weight class.
UFC 114 will be centered around the UFC's second fan expo over Memorial Day Weekend, featuring a main event between TUF 10 coaches Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and "Suga" Rashad Evans. UFC 114, which has yet to be officially announced, will likely showcase a battle of light heavyweights between Forrest Griffin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

And that will be the end of Leben
After he loses to Simpson maybe he gets another chance; but I won’t be surprised if it’s time for him to get cut.

MAYBE!,
Just maybe!, if he actually trains right and gets his head right.
But i’ll still take Simpson on this.
Tom Lawlor should get that Jay Silva guy that Leben beat, And destroy him.
Simpson is going to work Leben
Maybe if Chris can land his huge telegraphed left hand but Simpson’s fast, he’s got a lot of heart and he’s twice the athlete that Chris Leben is.

yeah because he looked so good against lawlor!!
he was garbage imo especially after someone on here was saying he was the next best thing! lawlor deserved at least a draw
He took a beating then came back to land TD's and win the fight; guy has a crap load of heart
and more well rounded skills than Leben; and once Leben gets desperate he just starts flailing that left arm out there and telegraphing it like nobodies business. He’s got one tool; one weapon, his left hand, that’s it.

not at all
Lawlor one the first half of the fight but Simpson was in a lot better shape at the end.
Lawlor punched himself out and ran out of gas. You get the UD by usually finishing the fight in the drivers seat which Simpson was. But Lawlor looked really impressive – made a fan here.
Should have been a draw, but the judges are too safe with their scoring and don't give enough 10-8s
Simpson should win this easily if he uses his wrestling, if he doesn’t then as predictable as his striking has become Leben will still be too much for A-Train on the feet. It always frustrates me when world class wrestlers try to win by boxing and they ignore their strengths. Hopefully Simpson has learnt his lesson after being found out by Lawlor and will mix up his wrestling and striking to takedown Leben and get the win.

I will tell you what, if Simpson shows the stand up "defense" he did against Lawlor...you better get his ass a pillow. Otherwise, I see Simpson winning by decision via GnP.

True
But Lebens boxing is no where close to as clean/good as Toms.
So i’m not too sure about that.
I'm not too sure what fight you saw. Tom's boxing was not crisp or stunning, Simpson had terrible footwork and no upper body movement. All it takes is 1 or 2 good shots to the dome.

Leben is a brawler not a boxer
because he gets hit and technique goes out the window.
Once a hot head always a hot head and like everyone says a gameplan is only in effect until you get hit…
You mean when he was blocking Lawlor's punches with his head? LOL.
He will not survive those shots from Leben. Hope Chris can connect.

if leben works hard, and becomes the guy who he was when he fought cote, he could do well, possibly win.

I like Leben anyway, have done since tuf.
He just grew on me for some reason, don’t know why but I always seem to root for him.

He seems ok, maybe because i hate Kos so much...
That makes me like Leben, Leben got the shitty end of the stick in the tuf house.

ugh..that is about the only thing that has not happend in a tuf house..
don’t worry i get the expression, but after all the pranks..lol
i like leben cause he's real
He reacts how I think I would in a lot of situations. I like how he does that cheesy finger point to the camera when he wins, he knows its cheesy and that’s why he does it. I liked when he was the bigger man and slept on the lawn to avoid drama and those bitches came after him and he settled that quickly by turning into T1 punching his way into the locked house like Michael Meyers through the glass to unlock it? Then the original Rampage door smash!? I was pumped the fuck up.
Funny guy, but has that hidden temper and he does try and give the fans a show. Doesn’t always work but the effort is there.
Leben!

The finger point and foot stomps are classic Leben.
But I truly became a fan when he was called out for pissing on that nerd’s bed on TUF and he justified it as only a “spritz”. Good call Chris!

Simpson won't be undefeated after this fight
The crippler by devastating ko.
yeah i got leban knocking dude the fuck out
no way simpson will be able to mak it out the first round if the fight stays standing, this is a good fight for the crippler i think. an up n comer in simpson being undefeated if leban stops him it will look good for chris.
this will be my first time not rooting for leben
i’ll always be a chris leben fan but i gotta go for my boy, a-train.
Is it just me or
easy win for Simpson? I’ll happy to see Leben to pull it off, but I think Simpson’s wrestling will be to much for Leben.
both of these guys think they r much better than they are. lawlor exposed aaron, and exposure is good. too many contenders get to skip fighting a top 10 opponent before fighting for a title. I wanna see the winner of this fight take on 2 of these top guys like chael maia vitor and nate to get to silva. otherwise vitor and nate should alternate fighting for the title and let gsp get a chance also.
