that is a sweet scarf...I'm thinkin that might be the new fashion for Spring McArthur

Fedor invented a language that incorporates Sambo and Kimuras.

So next time FEDOR is kicking your ass, don't be offended or hurt, he may be just trying to tell you he likes your hat.

Throw on a ruffled shirt, some corduroy pants, a driving cap and some fingerless gloves (not the kind with padded knuckles) and you’ll look groovy, baby, yeah!

Dont Count on That

No offense but I have never seen Nate so hungry and so dedicated to his camp as this. He wants the title. And also Chael wont get a shot. In my opinion if Chael wins the UFC will hope Anderson wins. Push Anderson to another 205 fight and hope someone else emerges at 185. It also depends on the outcome of the his Vitor fight. If its close then maybe a rematch before Chael gets a shot

Wrestling is the best base for MMA. Coleman proves that, Couture Proves that, recently Brock and even Lashley have proved that. King Mo as well. Guys that train MMA for years can lose to a wrestler who hasnt really trained MMA

by AintNoSunshine on Feb 4, 2010 6:05 PM EST up reply actions

True to a point, and yet BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Fedor, Machida and Shogun don’t have a wrestling base, and can defeat any wrestler in their respective weight class. Even GSP doesn’t have a wrestling “base” per se, since he picked it up later and never wrestled in college. GSP was a striker first.

You’re fight in that wrestling will get less experienced guys victories over good to very good fighters, but the truly great strikers who can keep a fight standing (or at least fight well off their backs with BJJ a la Anderson) are superior to any wrestling-first fighter, IMO. GSP may be the one exception to this, since his TDs are damn nigh unstoppable… but one of the main reasons they are so unstoppable is because he sets them up so well with his fast and accurate striking.

I should also add that as far as longevity and fighting past your physical prime goes, wrestlers will be able to compete at high level for longer (Couture, Coleman, Hendo) because the speed and razor-sharp refelexes so crucial to being a great striker are among the first physical attributes to fade… while physical strength and stamina are among the last.
