he’s the first guy in a while who truely doesn’t look afraid of Anderson and it seems genuine. There were people like Pat Cote and Dan Henderson who said they weren’t intimidated, but you could tell by the way they carried themselves that they were intimidated by the aura surrounding Anderson. Chael is definatley not afraid and I look forward to seeing the fight.

he’s just not caught up in the hype the way the other guys were. For the record Hendo is a way better fighter than Sonnen and I’m picking Silva in this fight, but I really don’t think he falls into the aura surrounding Anderson the way the other guys in the UFC have. Not sayin he’s gonna win, just that I want to see the fight. Chael poses problems for Anderson and he knows it. In the end though Anderson is just going to be too quick for Sonnen, but you never know. I just want to see it happen.

he admitted it. Nothing wrong with that. You get tagged a few times and say that it hurts after you win is much more honorable than getting KTFO, waking up and saying you just got tagged and it wasn’t the “real you” out there.
Nate landed one good elbow that opened that cut, and he had that guillotine. Chael gave Nate a lot of credit for those, but he and everyone watching could see that Chael took him apart for 15 minutes. Chael is a tough guy, and he won’t quit. I think Andy wins, but he gives Andy all he can handle.

Sonnen is the most intelligent and interesting MMA fighter out there. You know you’re going to get something every time he’s interviewed, and it’s not to just dumb Tito trash talk. His “trash talking” is really logical and stems from real facts.

Sonnen is very genuine. Like if you watched the post-fight presser he insulted Strikeforce and Dana laughed and agreed but Sonnen didn’t look up and laugh and try to kiss ass. He says what’s on his mind, and doesn’t try to cowtow to Dana White and Co. Nor did he try to lie and say that the Marquardt fight was easy like lesser people would. He’s actually quite humble in victory, but people are too blinded by hate to see him as he truly is.

For someone to question intelligence maybe, TJ, you should figure out basic grammar. And exactly what did he say that wasn’t relevant? He made an fair assessment of the fight in front of him. If you honestly feel that fight with Nate was a dry-humping or lay-and-pray, you are delusional. It may not have been flashy, but it was every bit as aggressive, brutal, and offensive as most any fight that takes place on the feet or ground. He has a tough task in front of him but if he can come in with a similar approach that he did against Nate, I can definitely see him winning.

…..Sonnen war wagon since he got back in the UFC…and he has fought some impressive guys and had some gr8 outcomes……maia got him but maia can do that to anyone…and he is a grinder…….grinders usually get a dec win most of the time…he does have a chance against anderson just like he had a chance with nate(which i won 8 bets on) his losses in the past 3 years have only come to top level bjj guys and one was questionable….but anyways imo he needs to work on his cardio hard for this fight because it will go all 5…dont see Anderson finishing him in this fight and if Sonnen can keep him on his back and just stay busy he can get the W…….ill pull for Sonnen in this fight just like I did in the Nate fight

in case you nuthuggers havn’t figured it out yet, anderson says all the fighters who might be able to beat him don’t deserve a shot, but mdemian mia???? soares and anderson kept their mouths shut on that one.
i think cahale does have a shot. i saw this same thing happen with roy jones. he lost his mojo awhile ago, but still reigned supreme as champoin because guys stepped into the ring scared and showing waaay to much respect.
in steps antonio tarver(far from the next big thing) and he whips the dog shit out of roy. he won because he didn’t have respect for his opponent. anderson is just a man. a man that can be taken down and out of his game just like any other. i think chale has a decent shot. depending on the odds i might just bet on it. he certainly deserved the next shot. dana should have pushed anderson back a ppv or two so they could fight. too bad soares and anderson have dana by the balls and wouldn’t let that happen.

I think Silva is by far the worlds best fighter
but see Sonnen giving him his toughest fight yet and has a big chance of winning. Hendo stood with him if i remember corectly? Sonnen is planning on doing what he did to Marquardt so could get tagged on the feet or subbed. Can’t wait to see this

Fact is he has beat LHW and he beat the second to sixth best HW in the world with ease for the msot part. Wins and loss’s don’t tell the entire story as we all know the HW division was very weak 5 years ago and Fedor has only beat two fighter in the top five his entire career CC and NOG both who went the distance with him. To be the best you must beat the best and right now the best heavy weights in the world are in the UFC besides Fedor. Beating 8th ranked to unranked fighters in the past three years proves nothing yes AA and Tim are decent but truely not top calibure fighters as the spider has faced.

In the past the best were Fedor, NOG, CC and Barnett and from there the talent dropped big time Sylvia was just lucky the UFC was thin in talent. I do think Sonnen has a chance, but I’m afraid we’ll see the same outcome as the Hendo fight. Is anyone really giving Maia a chance at all? I’m predicting a pretty boring fight..

Silva/GSP/Penn had to beat the previous champ to become champ, therefore he can do the same and beat the current champ?
This is a truism and not a real logical argument (although it might help him mentally to prepare for such a fight).
The current champs are of a different generation of fighters than the previous champs, now they are very fit, very well rounded and just the right natural physical attributes (being taller than their opponents etc.). When a sport matures it is usually impossible to compete at the highest level without having the right genetic material. Sonnen? Fit but certainly no freak of nature.
Also there are quite a few late starters and amateurs still in MMA, I don’t know how early in life Sonnen started his MMA training, but he’s doing real estate and politics on the side, while otheres are 100% committed to their training and fighting.

OK, he fought well but was only recognized for taking Paulo Filho’s WEC belt and The Bullet was already fighting personal problems. This is not an excuse. He deserved that no matter what Filho was going through. But I’m trying to show you that he hasn’t done much to become a shit talker. Remember what Demian Maia did against him? I wish Anderson cuts his head off when they line up.

He was the guy who beat Okami
Everybody was calling for Anderson to fight Yushin and he is the first person to go out and dominate Okami when noone else could beat him. Okay, he didn’t finish Okami and didn’t finish Nate but who else is even beating those guys. He dominated them. And these guys are good wrestlers which was probably their saving grace. Let’s be honest. I don’t hear many people thinking Chael is better than Hendo. But I honestly think he has a better chance than Hendo. Sonnen is far more aggresive on the ground. Hendo has dynamite in his hands and was happy swinging that right-handed hammer and not using his greatest advantage, his superior wrestling. Sonnen isn’t so disillusioned in his gameplan.

Finishing a fight does not necessarly mean that the win was better. I think it all depends on the quality of how you won… For example, when Frank Mir “finished” Brock Lesnar or when Serra “finished” GSP… Or even when Nate KO’d Maia. Would you call those quality wins?
Although, Chael didnt “finish” Nate, he did destroy him… He destroyed Okami… He destroyed Dan Miller… Those were all quality wins that prove that Chael showed he can straight lay a beat down against top fighters, and I’m gonna also point out that Nate and Okami are bigger and stronger than Chael, especially Okami…
And if you don’t think that those guys are legitamite contenders, let me ask you this: How many legitimate contenders did Anderson Silva have to beat before he got his title shot against Franklin? Go ahead and Sherdog that and get back to me…

Dan Miller's never been finished in his career
Noone has been able to stop Miller and very few have beat him so give him a little credit. In fact, his only losses in the UFC come to two guys who will be the next two guys that are fighting for the MW title. Maia (while the legitimacy of his title shot can be argued) has long been considered a top MW even though he is still largely one-dimensional. And when he fights Bisping, you can judge him on the merits of that fight. Maybe Miller loses and is labeled a gatekeeper who is good but just can’t beat the top guys. But even in hind sight, that still means Sonnen beat him, passed through the gate, and is top guy. It doesn’t discredit Chael.

i think sonnen will fair okay early on against silva. hendo got anderson down and sonnen seems like a bigger framed guy than Hendo from what i can tell. but, sonnen’s suspect bjj defense worries me over a 5 round fight even if he does get anderson down.
