I seen on the news back in the 60’s a simislar earthquake happened and caused the tsunami to get up to 35’ waves taht caused 50+ deaths and 500 buildings being damaged. Let’s hope history will prevent any deaths from happening this time.

I read a news thred that says waves, albeit small ones, will hit Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Can you imagine the power in that quake if ti can make a wave travel 5,000 MILES IN A DAY?

Don’t think of it like a 15 foot wave. Think of it as the sea being 15 feet deeper in an instant with the “normal” waves on top. Still not scary?
In other words, the people on the shore line would have to be 15 feet straight up from where they were to not get hit with this wave, not from where the waves normally crash.

My girlfriend is down in Argentina teaching a field-course and is getting rocked with aftershocks. She was supposed to flyout with a stop over in Chilli today and there isn’t an airport left.
