UFC 115: Ben Rothwell vs Gilbert Yvel likely for June 12 in Vancouver
Now that Pat Barry has taken a step up in competition to face Mirko Filipovic, Gilbert Yvel will get the Croat's original opponent when Ben Rothwell joins "The Hurricane" at UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver according to MMAWeekly.
"Big" Ben was supposed to face "Cro Cop" at UFC 110 earlier this month before calling in sick. And you can bet he must have really been ill considering how anxious he is to erase the memories of his last fight.
The former International Fight League (IFL) standout contested the timing of his TKO stoppage loss against Cain Velasquez in the co-main event at UFC 104: "Machida vs. Shogun" back on Oct. 24.
The Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS) product was on the receiving end of a one-sided beatdown that consisted of Velasquez taking him down, controlling him on the ground and punching him in the face en route to a second round loss. Rothwell contends that he was finally back to his feet and ready to turn things around until referee Steve Mazzagatti robbed him of his chance to pull off what would have been nothing short of a miraculous comeback.
Like Rothwell, Yvel would like to leave MMA fans with a different memory after being stopped with a crushing left hook courtesy of Junior dos Santos at UFC 108 in his UFC debut earlier this year. Before succumbing to the explosive hands of Dos Santos, Yvel had won eight of his prior nine bouts, with his last win coming against Pedro Rizzo last summer.
He could conceivably get right back into the thick of things if he's able to finish Rothwell -- or he may be updating his resume if "Big" Ben prevails.
UFC 115 is expected to feature the third (and hopefully final ) dance between former light heavyweight champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, fresh off their coaching gigs at The Ultimate Fighter 11.
Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for future updates on this still-developing fight card.

Bas Rutten: He has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Stephen Quadros: Yes, well many of the fighters have a black belt.
Bas Rutten: Yes, but in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you cant buy your belt like in say, Tae Kwon Do.
Stephen Quadros: Do you have any belts?
Bas Rutten: I have a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do.

dunno cruz. hard to call
If Ben was smart and takes it to the ground were Yvel is a fish out of water, then he would win…I know he is a striker, but wrestling had to rub off with all those meatheads at the Miletich camp for all those years. Problem is that Ben will want to go toe to toe, and I dont think his kickboxing can hang with Yvel’-s crisper, faster Muy Tai. Gilbert can be technical, but if he gets wild, which he does…Ben can put him in trouble.
Both tough guys, Should be a bang!
Yvel has some of the worst boxing ever.
Maybe not the worst but he’s pushing his chin up in the air as much as he can and he’s swinging wild. Ben should be able to catch him with some punches and put him down, his reach advantage will help him do that.
Yvel is just like CC a LHW fighting at HW.
familiar faces in unfamiliar places.
yeah but this is mma and if you have no guard or feeling for the hands, you're simply gonna get rocked!
boxing is the best and most important standup quality to have.
familiar faces in unfamiliar places.
I like this fight, i guess they’re trying to put on some slug fest for Vancouver. Both looked like crap in their first fights, i expect both to leave it all on the line in this one, maybe put on fotn!?!
yvel with a UD

Holy shit!
Didn’t know CC was fighting Pat Barry! Pumped for that…
Also this should be an action packed fight!
what was ben sick with..any word on that...
i just hope that CC shows us his old self in this next fight..i firmly believe he held back on the guy that stepped up to take ben’s place..that’s why he looked so crappy.
This card
is looking nice right now. Pat Barry is one of my favs, he’s from my home state and the dude is violent. NOLA baby!
Hadoken!!
Yeah Mazzagati robbed Ben of coming back in the Cain fight
No Ben, he spared you more punishment. Way to defend the takedown.
