Vera has been a Huge Let Down
In my eyes anyways. I love the guys potential and upside. However he just doesnt have that killer fighter instinct.
Jones is a killer...Vera will be in for a very long but very short night imo

Dunno…. Vera is very technical. Jones striking is very dynamic but lacks technique. If the odds are right I’m putting a large sum on Vera

I see this as a great opportunity to make coin off of Jones. If he’s favorite it won’t be by much. And that’s awesome cause Vera is soooo over rated. This is the passing of the torch. Vera done and Jones begun.

they're very much the same fighter.
forget about the fancy throws, Vera is a more cleaned up striker with great kicks.
If anything he’s underrated at this point in his career.
familiar faces in unfamiliar places.
I got a feeling that no one bets on Vera. If the odds are right I will be throwing down for sure. Maybe parlay with JDS could be a huge payday.

My question is when does this ‘future’ become the present? The guy doesn’t do anything. Everyone hates Randy cause he wall n stalled but he had to face someone willing to allow it. I haven’t seen anything I found slightly promising from this kid since he beat a definitely not himself Mir.
Over rated. Because he ‘still has tons of potential’. Where is it? When is it coming?

i had this guy pegged as a future champ, but he’s not fulfilling. i still like the guy, he has talent, but i wanna see some killer instinct out of him. look at jones, became known after destructing Bonnar 1 year ago and look at him now…Vera? It’s been almost 3 and a half years since his win over Mir, in that time he’s gone 3-4 with wins over Andy Reese and Mike Patt???

If you want to keep winning in the UFC, i think at some point you need to be agressive, and Vera isn’t. He relies too much on counters, and waiting for the other guy to make a mistake. What happens when the other guy doesn’t make a mistake? You end up getting an extremely boring decision. I was a big Vera fan years ago, and I’ve been waiting for him to jump up and fulfill all of this “potential”, but it just doesn’t seem to happen, and i’m tired of waiting for it. Jones on the other hand is one of the brightest up and comers in the UFC. Matt Hammil is a very tough dude (albeit not the most gifted fighter) and Jones beat the living piss out of Hammil. The only way Vera wins this fight is if he gets DQ’d again.

Vera seems hesitant to let it go lately whereas Jones lets that shit fly. That being said, I think it comes down to who comes out with the mental aspect on point.

Vera couldn’t finish a 46 year old (47?) Randy Couture in the stand-up. What makes anyone think he’s going to be able to do any damage to a younger, faster more explosive guy?

I had high hopes for him. But the excuses just keep piling up. I was pissed when he lost to Timmie, and then said he broke his hand. He only got an ovation cuz it was against Timmy, who everyone hates. Then he loses to Werdum and complains about the early stoppage, which I thought was fair. You cant expect the ref to think “ok well, the round is almost over, i’ll let u ride it out” – how is that fair to Werdum, who earned that position. Whether there’s 20 seconds or 3 minutes left, the ref should call the fight the same.
He just doesnt have that killer in his striking. He should’ve finished Sozynski.

When this fight was 1st announced there were an alarming amount of ppl still siding with Vera. Either ppl are starting to come around, or they haven’t got hold of this thread yet. But so far, so good.

who the hell has jones beat the vera couldnt
jones threw bonner all over the place and thats how he won that fight…but as we all saw from the randy fight vera’s greco background isnt gonna allow jones to do that shit to vera…jones isnt just gonna throw vera into backflips all over the cage…
my dream fight would have to be Brock Lesnar vs Jake Shields...and before the fight theres a video of jake slapping brock's wife...then id like to see shields try to gay porn a win over brock using his butt sex merry-go-round tactics...the massacre that would take place would be the greatest thing ever televised...every limb jake has would look like corey hill's leg...god i hate jake shields
