Our partners in crime over at BloodyElbow.com have once again published their divisional rankings for mixed martial arts in the nation’s largest daily newspaper, USA Today, for the month of February 2010.
For those of you unfamiliar with the process, here’s how it works:
"The rankings, which will offer a definitive perspective of top MMA fighters across all weight-classes, will be released monthly and published in the Sports section of USA TODAY, online at USATODAY.com and on SB Nation’s MMA commentary and community blog, BloodyElbow.com … The USA TODAY/SB Nation Consensus MMA Rankings are compiled each month by Nate Wilcox and Richard Wade of BloodyElbow.com. The rankings utilize each of the top MMA rankings from multiple unique sources. A weighted-formula is applied to normalize and distill the various rankings into one consensus ranking per weight class."

where everyone puts their top 10 and we come up with a point system (#1 ranking gets 10 points, #2 gets 9 and so on) so we can have mmamania consensus rankings…

I don’t know about the everyone idea…. there r a lot of crazy opinions n’ fans on here I wouldn’t count on to give an objective opinion…. but I think ur on the right track.
ya i think other than nog switching with cain there fairly accurate as well.
Lol and I went over them more carefully this time just to make sure I’m not missing something big. But I don’t see why this is the 1st list mania seems to refute.

Anderson has had two fights at LHW, and he’s ranked number 5… Cain just raped Nog, and Nog is ranked above hi,/
Look at those fights he had!
At LHW, he did to Forrest and Irvin what others couldn’t. Plus Dan and Rich who also fight at LHW. He should be ranked higher than Rashad or Rampage to be honest. If he went after the belt he could be the #1 LHW.

Alvarez should be #2. Florian is closer to #7.

Amazing...
There are plausible explanations for almost every ranking in every category until you get to HW. Most are arguable opinions that a strong case can be made either way but come down to opinion.
Somehow HW has logic flaws and discrepencies one after another. “the Brock Factor” I guess. He seems to throw rankers into a tailspin…like they are throwing darts.

Cain and Nog probably were because they may have done the rankings prior too? Just a possibility. But Costello, why should Alvarez be the Number 2 LW?

I'm gonna get hated on for this, but...
I still think Lesnar is over-rated.
Hear me out…Most ppl rank champs as number 1 because they’ve worked their way to that position by beating up all the competition, this is not the case with Lesnar. You can’t argue aginst the fact that Lesnar had 1 UFC win (against Heath Herring) when he got a title shot. Since his win against Randy, who is not even ranked, he beat up Mir. So, he’s beaten Randy and split wins with Mir (I’m not sure if you wanna count Herring as a contender).
Lesnar is a cashcow and that’s why Dana gave him the quick title-shot. Funny how a fighter is given a free title-shot, then is automatically ranked #1 on our rankings. I’m not sayin’ he sucks, but he hasn’t fought enough competition to prove he’s worth that #2 spot.

Dos Santos over Carwin????
They both have 11 fights under their belts, Carwin is 11-0 Dos Santos is 10-1. Carwin knocked Gonzaga out, Dos Santos’ next fight is Gonzaga… Carwin Should be ranked higher than Dos Santos.
