James McSweeney one of four unlockable characters for UFC Undisputed 2010

Video game retailer GameStop has announced that TUF 10 veteran James McSweeney will be one of the four bonus characters that fans will have access to for the sophmore edition of UFC Undisputed, set to be released on May 25.
The remaining three fighters that are to be available for video game and UFC junkies alike should they pre-order UFC Undisputed 2010 at GameStop, will be announced one per day on March 2, March 9, and March 16.
GameStop featured the same type of promotion with UFC Undisputed 2009 as Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero were made as downloadable characters free of charge in the first three months following the game's release.

may be an asshole. But the guy is a legit beast striking. If not for BJJ and Wrestling he would be highly successful. I have seen him go toe to toe with the best strikers Jacksons has to offer. And Win.

I just didn't see it. He seemed to tire quickly(a tuf problem on most seasons).
If you say he is better on the feet than Jon Jones(am I imagining he trains there?) and Rashad I believe you, but I just don’t see it.

He also has a loss by Submission (Smother). First time I have seen that on a fighter’s record. Watch the fight its on youtube.

But Jay to Answer You. His Gas Can Wasnt Good on TUF which was disappointing to watch because Jacksons does alot of cardio work and James go ton because it was part of Rashads aggrement when he said yes to TUF. He was allowed to bring In James and Brendan. And honestly the buzz in the gym had more hype around James then Brendan. I always though Schaub was much better and marketable though.
James does have a better gas can then he has shown. I am not sure if its jitters or what but I have seen him absolutely destroy people in training. Jon Jones does train there sometimes but he is mostly up at Tri-Star with GSP or in Denver with Nate. But thats why I said he was one of the best strikers not “the” best.

All of the guys listed have fought in the big shows, how many guys train there just for the exercise(so to speak)?
That’s one of the things I have wondered about the big camps. Could anyone just walk in off the street and sign up? Could I move to Montreal and be sparring with GSP after only paying membership fees?

Tri-Star is different.
Jacksons is also a city wide thing where they do offer the public classes like weekly and stuff. Regulars there are guys like Cub Swanson, Melvin Guillard, Donald Cerrone, Keith Jardine and Rashad. Guys like GSP, Donald L., and Jon Jones train mostly at Tri-Star bu tspend weeks leading up over in Albuquerque to game-plan and finish and peak the training. Nate also trains there but has his own gym in Denver. Alot of the UFC guys like Joe, Schaub, Carwin spend alot of time there. Also Jacksons is affliated with Renzo Gracies gyms so alot of guys go up there for BJJ and alot of Renzos guys come work with Coach Winklejohn.
It just depends. Greg is the father (may sound corny) and he treats everyone willing to listen and learn like his own family. Guys like Guida have come in not just to refine skills but because in the MMA world Greg is respected in a philosophical way as well. He has circles where he teaches about the psyche, talks and encourages hard work leading to success, etc.
Its a great atmosphere.

I love the spiritual teaching that he gives to his guys, being mentally prepared is a huge part of fighting and nobody can calm and relax a fighter in training or in between rounds better than Jackson.

Its My Career, however I Do work a part time job. Fighting doesnt pay extremely well. And money wise its not a flat rate for everyone. Well unless you take public classes its more like what we make in our fights that we train there for. Does that make sense? However not everyones situation is the same. So dont assume thats always the case.

One thing I get but don’t really understand as much as I would like to is the weight cutting. Can you explain the process and how long it takes for a fighter to get back to full strength? Forgive me for my ignorance.

Weight Cutting Is Dangerous, And Should Only Done With Someone With Experience
Its draining, literally its dehydration. Each persons body adapts differently to a weight cut. Some people (Thiago Alves, G. Tibau, Mike Thomas Brown) have mastered the art and there are others who struggle. When you hear about walk around weight thats hardly what they cut from. For Example. someone that fights at 170 might walk around at 195. When he is informed of a fight not only will thr training begin but so will the diet. He will lose weight naturally from the training and diet change. Then depending on the person and camp the real cut happens 1-3 weeks before the fight. Mine personally is the monday of the fight. I eat less, eat lighter monday and tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday my food consumption is minimal at best and I drink alot I mean alot of fluids. Its easy to lose water weight so those two days and also half day friday I sweat it out, through workouts and sauna.
But back to strength… it depends on the cut and the readiness os the cutter. I usually am drained during and after weigh ins. But a good breakfast and good nights rest usually makes me feel great the fight day and night.

I wouldn't say that Alves and Tibau have mastered it
They’ve both been overweight a bunch of times and have looked very drained in some of their fights. MTB is a beast at 145 though and hasn’t had any problems as far as I know. Always interesting to read about weight cutting though and it helps to separate good fighters from champions.

Andy is the perfect weight cutter
I’m amazed that some of his critics cough Shonuff cough have actually tried to use this as a reason to dislike him. Just shows how exceptional an athlete he is to me.
Tibau and Alves are good calls for biggest cutters in weight but like Rumble they’ve had too many screw-ups in weight cutting for me to credit them as great weight cutters. I personally think that all 3 of them would be better suited at fighting at a higher weight class.
