Jamie Varner in talks to join WEC 48 PPV against Kamal Shalorus on April 24

Former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner is in talks to join the star-studded WEC 48 pay-per-view event against Kamal Shalorus on April 24 from the Arco Arena, in Sacramento, Calif., according to MMAWeekly.
Varner was perfect in four fights under the WEC banner, including a hard-fought technical decision over nemesis Donald Cerrone back in January 2009. After recovering from injuries suffered in his fight against "Cowboy," "C-4" imploded under the relentless assault of Ben Henderson to cough up the title at WEC 46 just last month.
His road back to the WEC 155-pound championship begins with Kamal Shalorus.
The "Prince of Persia" is 2-0 for the WEC (6-0-1 overall) and like Varner, appeared at the Versus TV event back on January 10. Shalorus outworked Dave Jansen en route to a unanimous decision victory to earn what is undoubtedly a major step up in competition.
WEC 48: "Aldo vs. Faber" features a featherweight championship bout between the local fan favorite "The California Kid" Urijah Faber and unstoppable 145-pound champion Jose Aldo.
Also announced for the main card is a lightweight championship brouhaha between champion Ben "Smooth" Henderson and challenger Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. Former featherweight champion Mike Brown will also take part in the event when he enters the cage opposite Manny Gamburyan.

I like this fight
In this fight Varner will be at a wrestling disadvantage, somthing we haven’t seen in the WEC. Varner is the way more technical striker, but Kamal throws with a lot of power. Should be a close fight, but I hope Varner gets beaten down.

Glad to see Kamal getting a step up in comp. I’m glad to see Varner getting back out there too. I’m one of the few who is still a Varner fan I think.

cerrone is going to beat henderson then the ufc will come calling.
i was at the cerrone/ratcliff fight and he is incredibly popular with the fans. he had 90% of the pearl at the palms crowd in his favor. he is the forrest griffin of the wec. after he beats henderson i expect him to goto the ufc and kick some azz. i just enjoy his style. he can dish out punishment and also take it. btw manny g. has no chance vs mike brown.
