UFC welterweight number one contender Dan Hardy responds to criticisms directed towards him from certain members of the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) that perhaps called into question the legitimacy of his shot at Georges St. Pierre's 170-pound title. "The Outlaw" has assembled four straight victories inside the Octagon since his debut in 2008 and while he may have gotten his title shot by default, he's one of the few remaining eligible fighters within the division that hasn't already gotten the GSP stamp of disapproval. Anyone out there think Koscheck should have gotten another shot -- ahead of Hardy?

It wasn’t for the title but they fought. Kos did alright at times but in the end, we all know GSP prevailed, to no surprise.

hardy probly gets smashed even worse then the other 2 guys
Its took fitch like 7 wins in a row or something like that to get a title shot, dan hardy won 2 split decisions, knocked out a fighter with a bad chin and beat on mike swick. He has a good enough reason to complain but I think hardy earned the shot because there weren’t many other fighters to pick from at the time.

It was the right move for the UFC to choose Hardy over Kos, as far as business and marketing is concerned.
Do I think Hardy deserves it? Not so much, but at the end of the day, he beat the right guy, in the right place, at the right time.
Koscheck should certainly be next though, if he beats Daley. The winner of that fight should definately get the next shot, although I wouldn’t be surpsised to see that winner fight Paulo for the shot either.

I don’t think he can beat GSP by any means, but I do think he has a better chance than anyone else at WW.
He put up a better fight and did more than both Fitch and Alves.

I think Alves is the one that fared the best against GSP
I was impressed by his cardio and strength. Alves is the clearcut number 1 contender. Fitch is a very close second (yes I know Fitch beat him). Alves is very strong and is no longer a rookie to say the least.

He hasn’t fought since he lost to GSP. He’s just BEEN the No.1 Contender.
He needs to work his way back into that position, and IMO a win over Fitch won’t be enough. He should fight Paulo if he beats Fitch, or the winner of Kos vs Daley.

had their boy Swick beaten Hardy. Sore losers. KOS has not put together enough wins in a row, with losses to both Thiago’s that have set him back a little. Hell, he is only 3-2 in his last 5 fights, not good enough to fight for the title. Fitch is very good, but still has not finished a guy since 2007. Shut up, win more fights (Kos) or finish opponents (Fitch), and then you can have a gripe

But you are right, Hardy has a punchers chance. I have no real issues with Hardy getting the shot, and AKA should not either. As a matter of fact, I don’t want to see AKA get the shot after Hardy either, although I do think KOS will beat Daley. I will be rooting for Daley big time. I would like to see either Daley or Paulo Thiago get the next shot

The #'s on KOS
He is 3-2 in his last five fights. He has not put together a three fight win streak since losing to GSP in 2007. He had a good win streak headed into that fight, but since his assention into the top tier of 170, he is 5-3. He does not have a single win over a legit top 5-7 fighter to his credit (as a matter of fact, he is 0-3 against top ranked competition in GSP and the two Thaigo’s). Kos has no gripe. even more if he can stuff the takedowns……..alot of competitors that fight gsp worry far too much about what gsp will do, and this negates from their own gameplan………which is completely justified, cos he is so dynamic and skilled, i still have gsp all the way though, as much as i like hardy………and agree that gsp is too much for everyone at 170…..

Anyone else concerned about the potential Ring Rust GSP may have?
GSP is my favourite fighter BY FAR but I’m always on the edge of my seat when he fights. I think it’s the “Serra Effect”. Time off hasn’t been favourable to most fighters and GSP’s coming in against Hardy, a guy who’s been reasonably active in the past 12 months.

I don't think a guy like GSP will suffer
He’s too disciplined and too damn good anyway. He could be 70% and still beat anyone in the division.
What I wondered though was if the unthinkable happened and he got beat off Hardy, would he move up to MW or would he hang around and try and win the belt back?

Time to put friendships aside...
It is becoming very, very close to the point where Koscheck and Fitch HAVE to fight each other. I honestly think it would be stupid for GSP to fight both Koscheck and Fitch again. The only logical solution, if both Koscheck and Fitch win their next fights, is to fight each other and establish a number one contender.
By teammates not finding each other, you have the stupid shit we have now with two or three number one contenders (all of whom refuse to fight each other).
Dana White needs to make it clear that if Fitch, Swick and Koscheck want to continue not fighting each other then they will not be given a title shot.

Dan hardy is a born fighter. Anyone seen him take a punch? It’s not just like BAM, and his head rocks and he gives a goofy smile (a la forrest griffin). He just looks dead ahead, and a look on his face like he loves that shit, no wobble, no chicken dance. Have you ever seen a bear or a lion right before they go after dinner? Same look, sort of hungry and blank, with a hint of “oooooh yeah gonna get me some!”
I’m not saying gsp is undone, but just wait people. If anything, what will happen is gsp WILL NOT like standing with Hardy, and we’ll see yet again what is commonly reffered to as “SAFE GSP MODE”. They should rename him GnP…

The champs should be fighting every 4 months like BJ Penn. Then we wouldn’t care who gets a title shot as the next fight would be months away. I know some will disagree but at the end of the day these guys are fighters and the UFC is a business. I know people are starting to lose interest because these cards are pretty weak and the superstars are fighting once or at the most twice a year. What will it take to incorporate a ranking system?
I will be the first to admit, MMA is not my life, I am just a fan. I used to rent almost every PPV but have started to go to a bar for the last three events. I thought 110 was decent but I’m glad I didn’t shell out money for it. If a belt is not on the line, the card won’t be rented.

The way I look at this is, would people have wanted to see Joe Stevenson v BJ Penn 2 if Joe had beaten Sotiropolous? No! They’d both have put together a few impressive wins, but I feel in cases where they’ve been demolished by the top guy (who themself has then gone undefeated in that time), it takes a string of impressive wins to get people interested in a rematch. Nate Marquardt was well on his way to doing this by ruining 3 (should’ve been 4) of the top guys in his division, where as Koscheck has lost to Alves and Thiago badly.

with Hardy, not that im a fan of his or anyhting; but he is right on this one. koscheck and Gitch have had their shots at GSP and have both got thier assess handed to them. What is Hardy supposed to say when offered the title shot. “Oh, no thank you, i pass.” ?
Wether Hardy deserves it or not, he got the opportunity and took it. Other fighters that are complaining about this that have had their shots should not complain.
I personally do not like rematches if you got beat convincingly, until other peopel have had their shot!!! I like seeing the champ fight new blood instead of people whe has already destroyed! Once GSP goes through Hardy, Daley and Paulo Thiago(AKA HUNTER) . If not, then i wouldnt mind seeing some rematches with Fitch, Kos and Thiago.
