I wouldn't be nervous either...

I’d be changing my own diaper every 10 minutes from crapping myself from utter fear. How in the hell do you beat a demi-god?

Doesn't matter...

If he is nervous or not. When that overhand right connects it’s night night whether or not he had nightmares about the big bad Fedor or didn’t.

there is absolutely no reason to be nervous when you already know the outcome.

Fedor wins.

I want to see him attack Werdum the same way he attacked Big Nog

keep him on his back and fire punches like looping cannon balls right at his face. Would be awesome!!!! Not for Werdum obv nor for the person that’d have to put his features back in place.

being realistic though

Fabricio has EXCELLENT grappling credentials.
ADCC 2009 99 kg+: 1st place
ADCC 2007 99 kg+: 1st place
ADCC 2005 99 kg+: 3rd place
ADCC 2003 Absolute: 3rd place 99 kg+: 2nd place
Not to mention all the Super-Pesado tournament wins
So I think if anything, of all the heavy weights, Fabricio is one of the few that poses a threat to Fedor on the ground. But the longer the fight goes on the more that chance diminishes. I see a (T)KO or a decision for Fedor. Assuming Fabricio doesn’t sub him early, but I just can’t imagine it.

I think that's probably one of the worst beatings I've seen dished out.

But I’m sure at some point in some way Fedor will be in trouble in this fight, as he so often is, and the he’ll do something spectacular to finish as he so often does.

Agreed SFK (SPK), just can't see The Emperor losing, ever!! Unless it's controversial.......

Thumbs up for Werdum??

nuh uh

I am rooting for Fabricio. Not my 1st choice for Fedor next opponent but I think he has a shot if he can get to the ground ASAP. Only because he is so good there that you could argue he has a chance to catch anybody on any night. Fedor is the fav though.. no disputing that.

If Fedor gets sweaty or bloody or both I don’t see how Werdum can catch him in the later rounds when both guys are slippery. His only hope is to commit to a submission and risk getting bombed on. I don’t see any other way he could win.

Congrats to everyone who picked Robbie over MM. He took an a$$ whoopin but played a "risky" game plan like a fiddle. H O L Y S H 1 T that was an insane finish - Melvin was completly waxed. 2/3 on the night. Crap.

Honestly

I just hope Fedor comes in top cardio shape.. I dont know but his past couple fights he has been looking way too tired too early. I would hate to see Fedor lose period. Thats the only way i see Werdum winning is by wearing Fedor down just like big foot… If Fedor doesnt get the KO this might be a harder fight for him then everyone is saying.

Fedor never gets tired man

If it looks like he does hes just playing possum

FREENOW

Last I checked Brock was the number 2 HW in the world. He would be the co-captain on your basketball team, unless basketball became an individual sport while I was asleep last night?

He has no reason to be nervous ....

because he’s not going to be fighting Fedo. Strikeforce is about to pull the rug out from underneath him. Lashley vs. Fredo on CBS in April, wait and see.

by SHORT_BUS on Feb 3, 2010 12:24 PM EST reply actions

what are your sources Short Bus?

There was a big interview in fighters only with Alistair Overeem this month, and he seemed to be under the impression he was fighting Fedor in April too…

I don't think they are going to make Lashley fight Fedor already

The commissions should make sure of it. That is as lopsided a fight as can be.

It would be as lopsided as Lashley vs. all the cans he’s fought, only the other way around.

by P-Dub on Feb 3, 2010 12:42 PM EST up reply actions

But if they did would it surprise you?

No, they are content to continue to throw Fedor 2nd tier fighters and continue to market him as the best mma fighter in the world. When truth be told; he has struggled against these 2nd tier guys. He has looked as beatable as ever his last few fights. And of course Werdum isn’t much of a challenge either. Not much of a mixed martial artist; great jits with a non-existent stand-up game. But then again other than Overeem Strikeforce has no heavyweights to speak of.

Standup Game isnt all that bad

he beat up GG with knees.

and yes id be surprised if they put lashley in there becasue they already said hes fighting Rogers

As for struggling in his past fights. 2 ko’s and a Sub in his last 3 fights and coming out with only a bloody nose to show for it?

Fedor played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.

by brendog on Feb 3, 2010 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

More than a bloody nose against rogers.

Bloody nose, cut and broken hand. And Rogers had his way with him in the first round, gave him a beating. As a former fighter I’m here to tell you that when you have a steady diet of tomatoe cans and then you step-up to fight someone with near or equal talent as you, you aren’t prepared for it. Heaven forbid if Strikeforce actually gets a few top 5 hw’s.

Brock has all the tools to beat Fedor. So does JDS and Shane Carwin.

Emelianenko

At least Werdum defeated Fedor’s brother Aleksander, so maybe that’s where he’s getting his confidence from.

People have this dumbass perception because Werdum isn’t in the UFC he’s a bum or something and has no chance to beat Fedor. Of course the odds are in Fedor’s favor. That doesn’t mean Werdum is some can. The guy is a seasoned vet with alot of skills. Just like they said Arlovski was a bum or something… the guy won his last 3 fights in the UFC before he left. And Werdum… so what if he got KO’d by JDS? There are alot of people that think JDS is the future champ of the UFC. He stopped both Vera and GG and what that means nothing? No stand up whatsoever yeah right lol…. And of course he’s not scared! He’s a fighter. If you are scared to fight someone you shouldn’t be fighting. That being said Fedor is faster on the feet and has way more KO power. I’d say Fedor will respect his grappling credentials but i doubt it lol. Fedor seems to fight people where they are best and still win. Interesting fight to say the least. But even Fedor fighting Zulu was interesting at the time. Rant over

oh boy

Its sad to see Fedor fight guys like this. Im a HUGE fedor fan, but when will he and his dumbass management realize that he is fighting and defeating UFC heavyweight castoffs that couldnt cut it anymore and fighters that wouldnt cut it in the UFC?. Last five fights, Lindland, Choi, Sylvia, Arlovski and Rogers and now WERDUM??? come on now!!! You are the #1 Heavyweight on the planet!!! Those fights, other than the Arlovski one, which i wanted to see, you could be fighting top tier guys. Randy, Brock, Carwin, Mir, Velasquez,Junior Dos Santos and even Gonzaga and Kongo….that would cement your legacy even more!!! Those guys i just listed would destroy Fedors last 5 opponents in a heartbeat! So sad to see the best fighter in the world, fight lesser competition… sad. sad. sad.

Ummm Werdum TKO’d Gonzaga…twice get your shit straight

this argument has been had a number of times

I will open with:

Fedor is the consensus best HW right now, why should he be the one to have to fight those guys to prove himself. Those fighters you listed should have to go and fight Fedor to prove themselves, not the other way around.

And tehse are just opinions but I’d like to think they are fairly accurate:

Rogers and AA and maybe even Werdum are just as good if not better than Cain, Shane, Gonzaga, Kongo, and even JDS (yeah i said it)

Fedor played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.

Exactly why should Fedor come to them? Since when does the champ have to call people out?

More and more fans are calling him out bbbb

In the end the fans pay to see these fights and of coarse there are going to be fans that call him out as they want to see him face the best, and I agree he isn’t fighting the best and hasn’t for sometime. Is that his fault, M1’s or the UFC’s? This is were the blame is getting thrown around on who’s fault is it and by what I have seen and read it’s M1’s.

But is M1 doing what s best for Fedor financially in the long term like it or not, not only did M1 get the co promotion they wanted Fedor gets paid well and GAURANTEED money. In the UFC he would of made top dollar only if he would win(NO GUARANTEE) and M1 would not not get their co promotion. Financially M1 made the best business decision and to top it off Fedor doesn’t have to face the best.

So please lets stop talking about Fedor being in the UFC, at least until his contract is done with SF . Werdum is at least near top ten status so it should be a decent fight. The UFC is stacked and exciting now anyway without Fedor, SF would be pretty boring HW division without him, so as a fan I’m actually kind of happy he’s there. As far as who the best is we can all argue and have reasons why but in the end the best HW in the world is disputed and thats something we will just have to live with becuase there is no way of proving anything unless the best face the best. What was done five years ago proves nothing now.

I agree with everything you said till the last sentence. Our past is was defines us. Does it make him relavant in the HW division right now? No. Beating Arlovski and Rogers does. He beat legit top ten HW’s in the past year. Bringing up his fights with Nog back in pride has nothing to do with right now other than cementing his legacy.

If you make an ass out of yourself, there will always be someone to ride you

by bigbadbunbun on Feb 3, 2010 5:07 PM EST up reply actions

With out a doubt he is still one of the best

What I’m saying is five years ago he beat fighters thought of as the best in most fans opinions. AA is a good fighter he’s just not elite and Rogers has only one big win against AA? I like rogers and think he is the most exciting fighter in the SF HW division besides Fedor and would honestly like to see him get on more chance with a win over a another top SF opponent not Lashley LOL. No matter what Fedor does he is currently the greatest HW ever!! But he is not proving he is the best today. I think most of would agree we would prefer to see him face Brock, JDS, Mir, machida and Anderson over any fighter in SF right now. There would be no arguement who the best was if Fedor was in the UFC I think we can agree.
