This was ripped from a UG'er UFC 102 more badass poster that he based on old school boxing posters

Better
I like the folds and the high contrast photography (mimics the printing process of the day). Also like that they used an old pic of Randy. Very cool.

I saw that also,
but based on how it looks, I’m not that sure if it’s really “official”, since that’s also the image used in photoshop " how to make a retro boxing poster " tutorials..
Maybe things got lost in translation or something?
Really?
I think this is the best poster in awhile. Its got a very America goes to the Middle East nostalgic feeling, which it should.

you think?
Really? Looks like retro style printing. Nothing to do with the middle east.

yeah, maybe...
they confused the middle east with the south west, by which i mean the old west. but i do like the poster.
Really?
You think this looks like an old west poster? They couldn’t print photographic images on posters until after the turn of the century. This looks like a 1930-40’s classic boxing poster to me. Either from the eat coast or northern Europe.
Nice job on the designer, even though it was a photoshop tutorial. A lot of graphic design is putting the message in a cool context.

lol @ "WAR"
Should change that poster to “ONE SIDED SLAUGHTER”.
agreed.
Maia isn’t much of a warrior he’s pretty much worthless unless his opponent goes into a grappling session with him.
come on maaayn.
You took the word outta my mouth roberto
Worthless.
Maia is a joke and probably the easiest can Silva will ever fight.

lol
So many fails.
Amos was saying that Roberto wasn’t getting you ‘subtlety’ telling him that Maia won his last fight via strikes.
Shogun lost a close decision! Everyone get crazy!
no worries ;)
The whole thing was giving me the brain pains.
Shogun lost a close decision! Everyone get crazy!
I dont get what you're saying.
LOL.
My bad. Since he was replying to Roberto, I thought that he thought that I didnt get it.
Get my thinking there?

what's fun is your the biggest failure here.
for thinking i didn’t get what Felix was saying, i got it right away but stuck to what i was saying since beating Miller standing holds no weight at all, it was a terrible fight between two “losers” standing.
come on maaayn.
Isn't it UAE...
not the UEA. Although I am actually a MSA Arabic translator by trade, it doesn’t take one to know the acronym order.
Methinks that this probably isn’t an official poster, lol.
The doors dont open until 10pm. that seems kind of late for a fight,
Maybe it is to accomodate us so that we dont have to watch too early in the mornign. Also is that american dollars they r talking about. Is this poster just being shown here in the states,?
i seriously doubt..
Seriously.. “War in Arabia”? I think that’s almost offensive and belittles the fact that there’s a real war in the region of Arabia.
It is offensive
People from الإمارات العربية المتحدة would certainly be offended by that.
Not because...
…there are real wars going on there. Because the province of أبو ظبي is referred to as “Arabia”
Do you mean....
Do you mean that the people of UAE (United ARAB Emirates) would be offended by being referred to as “Arabs”? Whatever Paul.
Go pull your head out of your العربية المتحد.

Im gonna throw a "ZING" in here before someone else does.
I'm always thinking one step ahead. Like a carpenter . . . who makes stairs.

I was just going by what the site said
Maybe you should start a poll to see if I should delete it or not.

This is in no way the official poster from the UFC
nice try though
maybe it’s the official poster of Maia’s website
There is no way Maia would talk himself up as the best grappler in MMA
See post below. Dude isn’t that cocky.

Whatever fan made this needs to say Best Grappler in the UFC and watch more MMA worldwide
Maia is about the 5th or 6th best grappler in MMA that competes on more than a once off basis. Not including Marcelinho and Robert Drysdale who have only fought once and not including Roger Gracie, (who is this generations Rickson, making sure he protects his zero by taking no risks and ducking out of fights), and INCLUDING Braulio Estima who just signed a multi-fight deal with Shine fights – Maia is a notch above grappling whizkid Gunnar Nelson and Jeff Monson in No-Gi/MMA grappling. (For the record I can’t wait till Gunnar Nelson signs with Strikeforce or the UFC. Expect that late this year or next is my guess.) This short list also doesn’t account for improvement by guys like Urijah Faber who competed in Abu Dhabi as a blue belt in 2005 after having trained in Jiu Jitsu for under 18 months. 5 years later he straight murders black belts on the ground. (Though, to be fair his skillset and training is distinctly geared to No-Gi/MMA. In a Gi Urijah would likely get abused by the top notch guys.).
Including Estima who just signed a multi-fight deal and not including ability to strike on the ground (which doesn’t help Maia anyway)
AT THIS POINT IN TIME —
- Jacare
- Estima
- Galvao
- Xande
- Arona/Maia/Yahya
— Everybody else
(And before somebody noobishly shouts “Maia beat Jacare!”)
Yes we know in the match on youtube Maia won. Youtube doesn’t record every moment in history and sadly there is no full video currently available of the 2 times that Jacare beat Maia, by decision at ADCC 2005 with Maia playing defense, running and stalling the entire match. (There is vid of Jacare throwing him several times en route to the decision on some Jacare HL’s). Sadly no video is available of him apparently ROFLstomping Maia the other time they fought in Gi (I believe it was semi-finals of Copa Del Mundo) on even terms.
When Maia DID win in Gi he won an advantage decision 0-0 after Jacare had fought 3 times that day as he was competing at both his natural weight and absolute. He went through a hell of a lineup to get to that fight too. Without checking I believe it was Xande and Gonzaga at absolute and Telles at his natural weight. After that they Maia and Jacare went at it. Maia didn’t score a point but controlled the flow of the fight, (who would think the fresher man could do that?), and took a nothing nothing decision that drew a mixed reaction from the crowd. Listen to the jeers on the vid.
Gimme 1 round!
"Best Grappler in the World"
“Best Grappler in the World” – Is a quote from Dana White, I believe, to promote the fight.
I have two words for this fight: Thales Leites.
Ya, that was a great fight the last time Anderson went up an almost pure grappler. Goods times.

Ahh was not aware.
Now that I think about the absoluteness of the comment I should have figured it came from Dana’s mouth.

nice poster still a waste of time
Silva can breathe easy now though. He will probably not have to face Belfort again ever.
