Rua-machida_medium

It's official.

Tickets for UFC 113: "Machida vs. Shogun 2," which is slated for The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 8, 2010, will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010.

UFC Fight Club members and UFC Newsletter subscribers, naturally, will be able to scoop up tickets prior to them being available for public consumption.

UFC 113 will be headlined by a rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The Brazilians met previously at UFC 104 in a title bout and Machida defended the belt via controversial unanimous decision victory.

Here's what UFC President Dana White had to say about the rematch:

"The first fight between Machida and Shogun was very controversial, I think fans are very excited to see them fight again and find out who the best light heavyweight in the world is."

The card's co-main event is also expected to feature an exciting welterweight match up between perennial top contender, Josh Koscheck, and the explosive Paul Daley. Kimbo Slice is also expected to make his pay-per-view (PPV) debut against fellow TUF 10 cast member, Matt Mitrione.

Here is the UFC 113 tickets sales schedule (all times ET):

but machida is gonna win the second fight…. hell be well prepared.

I think so too but damn was i wrong about the first fight.

I keep trying to tell myself that fighting is a technical sport so the result should still be machida but i can safely say this is one of the few fights that i am not sure about my pick.

Machida has to come up with a way to counter those powerful leg kicks. I am confident that he will.

I wouldn't be

I haven’t seen Machida do anything different then what he tried against Shogun. I think he’s one of those fighters that has his style and once he gets beat at that by someone better it’s over for him. He won’t land a lucky shot and will be outstruck once again.

come on maaayn.

"I haven’t seen Machida do anything different then what he tried against Shogun."?

You mean in any/all of his fights after the Shogun fight? Or have you been observing/stalking the Black House gym and comparing this training camp to his last camp leading to the Shogun fight? Please explain.

You seriously think that he wont find a way to either nullify or counter the legkicks?

And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, lucky about him or in his strikes. He times, he feints, he counters. He’s as methodical and calculated as you can be in the cage without being predictable!

by Zlatan, My Hero on Feb 12, 2010 8:36 AM EST up reply actions

his training camp? so he's gonna become a new fighter after one training camp?

Machida came in and fought the same way he’s always fought and Shogun simply outdid him, he can try to stop Shogun’s kicks all he wants but what is he gonna bring offensively this time around? his left hand counter is pretty predictable and Shogun could see it coming every time he threw it.

the way i see it is, Shogun’s a better striker and his style matches up perfectly with Machida’s, you cannot change that just like that.

come on maaayn.

by RoBerto. on Feb 12, 2010 9:15 AM EST up reply actions

He's the undefeated (like it or not) champion

he doesnt need to “become a new fighter”. What he needs to do is come up with a gameplan that involves either checking/nullyfing or countering the legkicks. Yes, that can be done in 1 camp, if your a skilled fighter/striker in general like Machida and have good camp!

Im not a big Machida fan, i actually enjoy watching Shogun much more, but saying Shoguns a better striker in general like its clearcut or the general opinion is just dumb. Just dont like biased and disrespetful comments like that. It was a really close fight (could’ve gone either way in opionion) BECAUSE of the legkicks. That was the thing that played in his favour, without them we would have had a clear winner in Machida.

“I think he’s one of those fighters that has his style and once he gets beat at that by someone better it’s over for him.” Pffff…

Machida can't find a way to check leg kicks

But Shogun will find a way to stop a counter left with no problems?

I would take RoB’s analysis of this fight a tad more seriously if, prior to the Evans/Machida tilt, he hadn’t vehemently insisted thet Rashad was a better striker than Machida, and that “Machida’s hands suck”.

Keep on swinging away, RoBerto old boy. Sooner or later you might hit something.

lol Rashad being the better striker (comparing to Machida) is just crazy-talk

Me and RoBerto (Robert, i think?) are both from Sweden so we should see eye to eye on something, but i guess not.

Regardless of who won the first fight i see Machida winning decisively this time around wither by TKO or decision. Annnnnd…

He’s a Tito-fan and i’ve had a mancruch on Chuck since day 1.
He thinks takedowns and topcontrol shouldnt count when judging in MMA (if no damage is inflicted, to be fair), wrestling is not a real sport and that GSP is boring nowaday.
I think its a big part of the game and dictating where the fight takes place goes under “Octogon Control” and i frickin love seeing GSP put on a wrestling and GnP-clinic.

RoBerto: we’re all good btw. Like discussing with you anyways.
Ps. Phil Davis vs Alexander Gustafsson. Vad tror du? Har han nån chans?

I myself was completely surprised to at how the 1st fight played out. I just thought Lyoto would just dissect Shogun like a surgeon.

Seems that Muay Thai is more than a formidable match for Shotokan Karate.

Shogun wins no doubt about it!!

He literally outclassed him standing and it’s going to happen again, you can gameplan and strategize for a million years, it’s still going to impossible when you don’t match up to your opponents qualities.

You seem to be the only one in the world who saw Shogun win that fight definitively.

Two of the best fighters in the world!!

I know a lot are on the Shogun wagon with his last performance but to be honest I don’t think Machida was prepared as normal for the Shogun that showed up when they fought and really Iwasn’t either. I’m not 100% confident with my prediction either as these two guys are two of the best fighters in the world period and in my mind top three at LHW if you throw Anderson in the mix no matter what way you slice it.

your opinion isn't truth

please realise.

I score that fight Machida every time I watch it. But I wouldn’t have been surprised if Shogun won or if it was scored a draw. People just need to realise that it was brutaly close fight and machidas’s the champ, so le’ts await the rematch.

Nobody can predict this fight after the last fight :) Best fight of 2010, no doubt though.

well, fact is you do lose when you receive more hard clean shots than you give, no matter how anyone sees it. I could see Shogun winning all 5 rounds in that fight but to be fair to Lyoto he may have gotten 1 round. His counter punches were blocked the whole time and he threw them with pretty bad technique he didn’t turn into them so there wasn’t any real power behind them either like there was in Mauricio’s kicks, Lyoto’s best shots were the 2 knees to the body of Shogun.

come on maaayn.

Every1 saying machida will be ready this time, he’s guna be well prepared. What do u think shogun is guna be doing? He is guna be just as ready as machida is & u can bet yur ass he’s guna bring it! Never in my life have I ever went against shogun & unless he fights Wand I never will. Always been 1 of my fav’s

I'm going with Machida again.

Hopefully it will be decisive this time.

If Machida loses decisively, I’ll tip my hat and give it to Shogun as the better fighter, but if Machida wins, are you Shogun ’warwagon’ers going to finally shut up?

Shogun lost a close decision! Everyone get crazy!

I know

Shogun is a beast and will go down in mma history as one of the best, but it will not be at the expense of machida, unless lyoto vacates and goes after lesnar.

This is an old argument...but

That fight was not even close. Shogun did win Decisively. Landed over double the shots = decisive in quantity. Nearly crippled Machida, bruised up his face, wrecked his torso, and looked unmarked himself = decisive in quality. The first 1 was not even close, and I’d say hopefully Shogun dominates this time, but apparently that isn’t good enough. So…hopefully a stoppage perhaps?

by Amos14 on Feb 12, 2010 12:23 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah because the first fight wasnt close at all! (sarcasm)

For someone who watched the fight 10 times you should know it could go either way. I’m picking shogun.

by Kayo on Feb 12, 2010 12:26 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

Also....

just forgot to mention, Shogun outlanded Machida in every round. I know outlanding doesn’t equate automatically with winning the round, but don’t give me that bullshit about how Machida hit him harder. Cause damage was extremely one sided as well.

by Amos14 on Feb 12, 2010 12:26 AM EST reply actions

Actually I believe compustat...

had Machida to the head and body ahead by 8 or 10 punches, something like that. It was the 60 or so leg kicks that made the difference in landed shots for Shogun. Which then brings in the argument of whether or not a championship belt should change hands on leg kicks? When Forrest beat Rampage with leg kicks most people cried that it was ridiculous for the title to change on leg kicks. Then, when Machida retained the belt under the same circumstances it was Shogun got robbed, he outstruck Machida.

Physical damage(cuts and bruises)doesn’t mean everything. Chael Sonnen looked a 100 times worse then Nate at the end of the fight, but you wouldn’t say Nate won that fight would you?

It’s funny. The fans think the rematch will go on the same way with Shogun kicking Lyoto’s leg all the way. Heck, it’s gonna be quite different. I expect a great show with either of them fighting aggressively after one or two rounds of study. This time I want one of them knocked out at the end of the match-up.

Ed I agree...

They are both going to come in with different game plans. While skill sets may not change, they will both be working on how to win convincingly, if they don’t we are going to end up with the same exact fight, and most likely the same kind of result. Someone needs to dominate this fight, in “Championship Fashion”.

However, I think this fight will not go to a decision because both guys will no be comfortable letting the judges decide their faith, again.
