"Sexy" fate potentially awaits the winner of Silva-Bisping clash at UFC 110?

Akiyama_medium

The winner of the impending clash between Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping at UFC 110 may face Yoshihiro "Sexyama" Akiyama in his next fight, according to Fighters Only Magazine.

Bisping recently emerged victorious over Denis Kang at UFC 105 to atone for his highlight-reel knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100. Should he dispatch both Silva and Akiyama, the British middleweight likely will position himself as one of the top contenders in the division.

On the other hand, a source in Las Vegas states that, should Silva triumph over Bisping, UFC would like to stage Silva-Akiyama in Japan. UFC's expansion into Japan has been relatively dormant because of the difficulty of entering the established market currently under the stranglehold of FEG-owned DREAM.

Nevertheless, Silva-Akiyama can potentially give UFC a much-needed jolt of momentum, given the level of recognition the two fighters enjoy in Japan.

Star-divide

Silva had earned a superstar status in Japan during his long reign of terror as the middleweight king in Pride FC. Akiyama, on the other hand, has established himself as an ultimate "heel" in Japan in the wake of greasing allegation in his fight against Kazushi Sakuraba in K-1 Hero's.

A fight between these former mainstays in Japanese MMA promises to seize the attention of Japanese MMA fans.

Let's sit back and see how the aftermath of Silva-Bisping and subsequent turn of events unfold.

Why not have the winner fight Belcher

since he is the one who really won their fight?

I agree

If Dana’s talk in the past of a Pride Event in japan this would be a great main-event for it. I’d rather see Belcher fight sexyana if he beats Cote. We all may say the this guy or that guy won but, ultimately we should respect the W’s and L’s until, we can reform the scoring system. I smell a scam though for Bisping stirring for his attempt at gaining the MW strap

Belcher did not win that fight.

Rogan strikes again. Sexyama had that fight 2 rounds to 1.

its because the fight was in Memphis, Belchers home town, and Rogan and Bravo needed to get hooked up

Yea I have no clue how you can say Belcher won

When he didn’t even get a TD; Akiyama had 3 passed guard to side mount 3 times; maintained a dominant position for a longer period of time and landed evenly on strikes. It makes no sense to give that fight to Belcher at all.

It was a close fight that could have gone either way

When I wathced it live I scored it for Belcher, but wasn’t upset by the decision, nor did I think it was a blatenly bad one. When I watched it again I scored it for Akiyama. After watching it a few more times it probibly should have been a draw with the first round being a 10-10, but one thing is for sure, Akiyama needs to improve his conditioning. He was gassed.

That just makes Belcher the official gatekeeper of the MW Div, LOL

Nah...

Sexyama won that fight with more crisper strikes. Don’t know why they could not find an opponent for him after his fight with Wand go shoved

Yeah! When's that fight ever gonna happen?!?

If(and only if) Wand loses to Bisping, this fight could possibly not happen at all! Sheeeet!

Sounds pretty likely to me?

“should Silva triumph over Bisping, UFC would like to stage Silva-Akiyama in Japan”

So if you have Silva over Bisping, then it would be Akiyama-Silva. Sounds pretty likely then?

also in Japan which would be huge...Sexy is a Japanese icon but Wandy is also HUGE there

Good match making, the Japanase fans would eat this fight up if it happened

Now the prospect of Wand winning is even more exciting; that’s the perfect fight to break in to Japan, I would love to see a UFC event take place in Saitama Super Arena that place is HUGE.

Honestly

The only reason this is happening is because it might allow Wandy to fight in Japan. Akiyama would be a step down for the winner of this fight, somebody like Demian Maia or Nate Marquardt is much more appropriate.
