Josh Kocheck attempts to tweet his way into a grudge match against Tito Ortiz after "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" made fun of "The Hammer" for losing to Randy Couture at UFC 109: "Relentless" last Saturday night.
The AKA standout is on track to battle Paul "Semtex" Daley at UFC 113 to try and quell the British uprising in the 170-pound division but has no problem moving up two weight classes to deliver some Pennsylvania justice after Ortiz fights Chuck Liddell in June.
Anyone think "Kos" has a chance at the heavier weight?

Kos would win and it wouldn't even be close.
Tito could not take Koscheck down and Kos would pick him apart on the feet. Tito’s shot is so bad even if he has weight on Koscheck he can’t take him down. Tito wrestled 1 year in junior college and Kos is a 4x All American and a national champion. Say whatever you want about Tito’s wrestling, there is no substitute for competition on that level. And striking, it’s no comparrison. It’s not that Koscheck is that great of a striker, it’s just how bad Tito’s hands are. Kos hits harder too and he’s 2 weight classes lower than Tito. I really don’t even think it would be a fight.

Tito enters the cage at 225+. Kos enters at 180 MAX. He doesn’t cut much to make 170. So yeah, 40-50 pounds is a good estimate.

So Kos is bigger than GSP was for the Alves fight? Wrong. GSP was 185 against Alves, and GSP is way bigger than Kos. Kos could cut to 155, and he’s talked about doing that. He is 180, tops.

Just checked it out, and we’re kinda both right. In a conference call, Kos said he walks around at 190, and weighs like 182 in the cage.
Which is 48 pounds less than Tito weighed in the cage against Forrest (230). So my point stands. 50 pounds difference in the cage, 40 pounds if no cutting is involved for Kos. 40 pounds is a lot.

Well like I just said, Kos himself stated he walks around at 190, but that’s not what he weighs in the cage.
GSP was walking around at 188 before the Alves fight, and GSP is quite clearly bigger than Kos. So GSP must stay leaner between fights.

but think, he’s 182 when fighting at 170, if he walks around at 190 he wouldn’t cut, he’d put on 10 pounds gradually (over say 6 months. he’d be out weighed by 20-25 lbs tops. still big, but not 50
Well, look at it this way. Let’s say both guys cut the same amount of weight to make their respective divisions (even though I’m sure Tito cuts more). That’s still a 35 pound difference between them, and Kos isn’t going to put on 10 pounds of pure muscle in six months while maintaining cardio.
They are two full weight classes apart, and those weight classes exist for a reason. Just ask BJ. It’s way too much of a size difference for Kos to overcome, IMO.

Are you seriously comparing to JUCO titles..
to NCAAI wrestling titles? So you are comparing some jr college wrestling to Arizona, Purdue, or Michigan wrestling programs/national titles? There is no comparison! While some Jr colllege may have a good program or occasionally put out a good fighter, it is not the same thing as Div I at all. While he was at Cal State he had no achievments there. Koscehck was a 4 times Div I All American wrestler and 3 time wrestler of the year- At a Div I school! Huge difference. I think Koschecks wrestling would be enough for him to beat Tito. Tito has crap stand up and his wrestling wouldn;t hold up to Kos wrestling. I think Koscheck at 190# easily out wrestles a 220 pound Tito, IMO.

Not to be rude, but you really must not understand the diff in size. At fight time, there would be a 35lb diff in weight. These guys are both very strong for their own weight classes. Pound for pound, KOS may be stronger, maybe, but thats pound for pound. There is NO WAY that KOS hits harder than Tito. You can teach KOS how to punch better all you want, but you can’t teach SIZE. After spending time with both fighteres, I can tell you, there is a huge, noticeable diff in size between the 2. I like KOS a lot, but there are reasons for weight classes. Either one can take the other down in the right circumstance. But what happens if Tito is on top of KOS???? KOS can not work that good off his back, not against that big of a guy, no shot!!
I'd put $$$ on Kos as well.
Hughes gave tito a tough time in a grappling match and only lost by 1 pt, and they were both in their prime…. I’d say Kos will weigh about a solid 190, that should be enough.

When I lived in Oregon it was crazy good! I only get exotics, but not as good as that was! The shit I grew last year was some of the best I have ever had though!!! I’m all into organic food so when I grew I only used organic fertilizer. I think that helped……even though the clones I had were nice!

I was on a lot of things back then..
My roommate used to order drugs like he was orderin a pizza or somethin. Guy would come by with 1 lbs of weed, some coc, shrooms, ills; little bit of everything. He was the groundskeeper at the apt. complex so super super low rent. He was also on probation, so he couldn’t use any of the drugs; I would sample each one, and tell him what I thought of the quality then he’d figure what he was gonna charge.
He liked to show off; had a chinese SKS and an AK-47, as well as a little deranger in a drawer under the coffee table in front of him. Always slept on the couch; I was usually stoned/trippin balls 24/7. Anyway he shows off to everyone, “look at this weed I got, look at this AK, look at my chinese SKS”. Inevitably one of the guys he shows off to tells his Crip friend where to find us.
He comes to the door; I think nothing of it; open the door; he holds me up at gun point. Steals all my roommates shit and never touched mine LOL. Then the cops come about 2 hrs later; cause he’s an idiot and reports his guns stolen (as they were legal); they walk in see some paraphenilia; soon as they start askin questions and find the deranger and a 12 gauge in the closet in the back they pull a gun on us and cuff us both LOL. Robbed by a crip, then robbed by the cops; awesome day.

Kos is a way better fighter than Tito; but keep in mind that Kos is a smallish WW who’s talked about moving down to LW, and Pumpkinhead is an enormous LHW. Size matters, and in this case the size discrepancy would be ridiculous.
It’ll never happen, so speculation is kind of pointless (imagine that! Pointless speculation by the MMA media!), but with a 40+ pound weight advantage, I’d give Tito the W. Ugh. I feel dirty just typing that.

Sounds very realistic to me.

I would luv for Kos to ko Tito, but this something Machida failed to do. Tito has drive but does not have the requisite standup to compete with the new breed of fighter. In any case, all this calling out and Coleman grabbing the mic is starting to resemble fake wrestling. All these fighters trying to get the large PPV buys is diluting the integrity of the sport. Where there was once reverence for personal character, the sport, and your oponet there is now strippers and meatheads strutting around and doing low brow garbage. BJ Penn learned the hard way when he acted in this manner, it was this last fight that many embraced BJ’s maturity and true dedication to the sport. I think the UFC needs to take a step back and do the same. Seriously, this is all one big soap opera.

He hasn’t finished a fight in 10 years(except against Kenny). So statistically speaking Tito has a low percentage chance of stopping this fight inside the 15 minutes. Do you think Tito has a chance to hold Kos down for 15 minutes? Do you think Tito can stop Kos from taking him down and administering elbows? Don’t forget that Kos kept up with and put GSP on his back. I think Tito was a good wrestler back in the day, but he has been passed by many.

Randy's record is weak from fighting HW's
He’s only lost to Chuck at LHW and Vitor off a cut. Tito gets a lot more hate cause when he loses he talks injuries and spews all kinds of garbage. He’s also not won a fight since Ken Shamrock in October of 2006… Also go look at Tito’s rec, it’s not against great comp; it’s against MW’s. Vitor Belfort dropped to 185, Evan Tanner dropped to 185, Patrick Cote dropped to 185, Ken Shamrock 3 times (do I have to go into why this is not a quality win?); he got Forrest on a split decision that most people thought he lost and he fought Rashad Evans to a draw. You can say what you want; but Tito’s rec is really not that impressive.

One thing, I consider split decisions a tie. I know they count as a win or loss but basically it comes down to 1 of the three judges seeing 1 round a certain way. Too subjective to really decide. Besides, would samurais (which martial arts is based on) stop after 15 minutes and ask someone else who won. Anyway, that’s my opinion on split decisions.
Forrest 2- Loss. One judge somehow thought Tito won the third round. Joke. Clear cut win for Forrest even though it was a split. Judging error, not a close fight at all.
Lyoto- Loss. BTW, you don;t get to take credit for things you almost did Tito. You failed at the sub attempt
Rashad Draw – He admitted he was cheating. "if your not cheating…"

Metzger- A revenge win, always looks good. History proves he was a good not great MMAer in his prime. Get Over It.
Frank Shamrock – was a beast in his prime one of the best MMAers ever. The use of epic shows your stupidity. Frank was a forgotten name because of the dark ages of MMA
Wand – sure before Wand turned into the Pride Beast but still a legit win over a legend in the sport.
Kondo- Wasnt really talented. What history proves that and who are you (probably un-athletic) to judge his talent level.
Tanner- Legit at the time, was a great talent for the UFC at this time.
Sinosic- A fluke? Submissions are rarely flukes. Maybe try some MMA sometime. I have never fluke beat anyone by submission. Even KO’s arent flukes just well timed strikes sometimes. And Sinosic was another guy the UFC put in front of him and Tito beat him. Not his fault.
Matsusheynko (SP) – Is a legit MMA guy who has been through it all. Has found success and continues to do so til this day. Nothing Wrong There.
Ken 1, 2, 3- Without these fighst the UFC wouldnt be as near as big as it is today. Ken is a legend to our sport and while he was aged and out of his prime it was what everyone at the time wanted to watch. And we got it. It was ugly but we got it.
Cote – Cote is a tough SOB. Maybe not an elite guy but he a legit B level fighter who will beat guys at his level and struggle vs guys better then him. He is a good but not great fighter.
Randy- A Legend in MMA, and in that time Randy was a beast.
Chuck- No shame in losing to the best 205er of all time. Chuck during that span was almost unstoppable.
Vitor- Vitor has always been hit or miss. either he looks like a elite fighter or a slouch. Vitor at the time was still feared.
Forrest – Won the fight. Doesnt matter how “you” saw it.
rashad- Tito wins this fight if not for the point deduction as he was ahead on the score cards.
Lyoto- Still undefeated. Tito was coming off of back injuries and fought the most higly regarded UFC lhw since Chuck.
And for you to say Split decisions are like draws makes you an idiot. A win is a win whether a nobody like you thinks so or not. Try fighting, try training and you will wake up to MMA. i wish people like you stayed Boxing fans or stayed away from our sport. Fact: Tito hasn’t finished anybody not named Ken Shamrock since 2001, this time next year, it will be a decade of not finishing fights (except against Shamrock)
Fact: Take away the Shamrock padding (after all he has only one win that has stuck since 2001; against Kimo. His win against Clifton was overturned due to steroid use) and he is 12-7.
Sorry, these two facts alone show that Tito isn’t really that good.

Remotely accurate?
…like pummeling Forrest? For two rounds no less? Tito pummeled him in the first half of the first round of their first fight, after that lost that fight. That judges’ decision was questionable. He did almost nothing in the second fight outside of a few takedowns between getting punched in the face continuously. The fact that that second fight was scored a split decision is just one of many examples of a terrible scoring system that puts too much emphasis of takedowns.

He punched Tito in the face a lot. Weak unanswered punches should count for just as much as a takedown that isn’t used for anything.

Please. Kos would not stand and chance agianst Tito. If Chuck can’t KO being a LHW then Kos has no chance either. Kos won’t be able to take him down. Tito is way too big for Kos. About 30lbs and 6 inches too big. Tito would push/smash him all over the octagon. Kos needs to mind his own business and know his role. He should be betting 100k that he could beat Paulo Thiago in a rematch since Paulo just got done beating that AKA ass. Until Kos holds a world title I think he should learn to be more modest and watch his mouth.

Tito wouldn’t stand much of a chance despite his size advantage because IMO speed trumps size for the most part. Kos is a strong, skilled fighter who could easily stay away from Tito’s shots and clinch a la Machida. Tito would be absolutely idiotic to take this fight without a huge pay because he has very little to gain being the way bigger fighter.

IF Kos cuts from 190 couldnt this fight tecnically be at 195 or 200? Kos would be bloated for sure but if he trained for this weight then he could still carry his athleticism

Tito is not well rounded enough , and Kos who is well rounded would destroy Tito. Just watch Tito’s fights and watch as he stands right in front of the fighter , no lateral movement and no head movement. Tito is what you call a cover up fighter , all he does is cover up his face and throws slow weak punches until he gasses. Tito was brought into the UFC because he brings drama everywhere he goes with his big mouth and that gets people excited and sells tickets , unfortunately this hinders the legitimacy of MMA and belongs more in entertainment wrestling “NOT” MMA. Tito is no threat to any belt in the UFC and will retire after this contract.

But we are talking wrestling. I think Cain would give Fedor some trouble as would Lesnar. Two guys with amazing wrestling bases. One fast and lean, one strong and hulking.
CC, AA werent wrestlers. Hunt was skilled to an extent, Timmy was a good MMA boxer, and Schilt never translated that well into MMA

The man is tough to take down and even when he gets taken down he’s got a very aggressive sub game; Cain gets overzealous throwing strikes that wear on you but he’s not TKOing guys in a couple hits. I gotta think with the volume of strikes Cain puts out on the ground that Fedor would eventually take an arm home.

But Randleman slammed him with authority and Cain is a better wrestler and if Cain did that I think he would have gained superior position. However I know thats just speculation. Lindland had mild success with the wrestling and Cain is far superior then that as well.

But because I can take down 125 and 135ers that wrestled and won state titles and I havent competed in wrestling at all. Size matters. With proper technique size is a huge factor. Wrestling 4x All American doesnt mean everything as GSP has shown us. Sure Kos is decorated in Wrestling but he isnt top 3 wrestlers in MMA. MMA Wrestling is not the same as Amateur wrestling although it is a very good base to start MMA.

its not too bad arounf here BOW? hit and miss but mostly hit...a lot of it is indoor which smells bad and is hard on the throat but again, its everywhere. The fall is when the good stuff is equally available and the good times roll.

What ??? GSP has amazing freestyle wrestling , good enough to train and compete at olympic level , and was training for the Canadian olympic team , which he could have made if he wasn’t committed to the UFC where he is making a ton of money. GSP is just a better more rounded athlete than KOS.

Kos is the beter credentialed Wrestler. So your argument isnt going anywhere. Jake Rosholt couldnt take down either Kos or GSP.

What I am saying is college credentials dont mean a whole lot in MMA. Tito might not be heavy decorated but he is still a good mma wrestler who at one time had one of the best double legs around. and yes KOS is also another very good wrestler however Tito weighs 35 pounds more then this guy and a bloated Kos may not be as athletic and explosive
